I'm
the
chairman
of
an
organization
called
corporate
culture,
and
I'm
going
to
take
you
through
a
bunch
of
ideas
that
I
think
might
help
you
in
your
deliberations
in
the
climate
assembly.

If
you
look,
for
example,
at
water,
water
is
fundamental
in
generating
energy
and
in
growing
food
and
supplying
and
delivering
it.
So
without
water.
You
don't
have
food,
you
don't
have
energy,
you
don't
have
heat
and
light
and
you
don't
have
an
economy.
So
things
are
not
just
isolated,
they're
all
connected
and
recall
water,
for
example,
not
just
the
responsibility
of
the
water
company,
not
just
about
turning
on
your
tap
everyone's
responsibility
years.
Government
businesses,
it's
a
shared
remit.
A
We
like
options,
so
I
recommend
you
define
and
draw
up
a
range
of
the
potential
strategies
that
can
be
used.
There's
lots
of
them
from
infrastructure
products.
Use
of
technology,
don't
overlook
the
arts.
This
is
an
example
of
scientists,
nobel
prize
winning.
Scientists
tend
to
also
tap
into
their
artistic
side.
Don't
overlook
the
creative
sector.
It's
got
fabulous
possibilities
to
engage
here,
businesses,
critical
role;
they
don't
always
rise
to
the
challenge,
but
they
do
have
a
critical
role:
local
physical
design
solutions.
Here's
an
example
from
barcelona.

The
plan
takes
nine
blocks
and
forms
one
big
superblock,
which
are
closed
off
from
through
traffic.
Only
cars
that
need
access
are
allowed
in
and
the
speed
limit
is
reduced
to
10
kilometers
per
hour.
Parked
cars
go
underground,
so,
instead
of
busy
junctions,
you
have
parks
and
picnic
benches
and
play
areas
so
far.
Barcelona
has
built
six
of
these,
and
the
plan
is
to
extend
it
to
over
500.

So
action
on
climate
change
isn't
necessarily
all
downside.
This
is
an
opportunity
to
combine
it
with
rediscovering
our
humanity
and
our
sense
of
connection
with
other
people,
great
idea
to
make
lists
of
ideas.
You
can
draw
on
ideas
from
huge
numbers
of
existing
sources.
This
is
one
the
existing

from
the
global

You
can
pause
on
this
at
any
point,
so
you
can
check
on
the
detail.
Remember
success
follows
the
evidence.
So,
as
you
see
information
like
this,
for
example,
you
should
draw
on
the
evidence
to
imagine
solutions
that
potentially
have
the
biggest
impact,
for
example,
impacts
in
food
and
mobility
and
travel
have
a
bigger
impact
than
some
others.

Remember,
there's
vast
amounts
of
data
that
already
exist,
don't
feel
frightened
to
ask
for
them.
Remember
that
people
can
have
a
big
impact.
There
was
some
european
research
last
year
called
hope
that
identified
the
potential
ways
in
which
individual
behaviors
could
have
an
impact
and
the
extent
of
them
so
that
information
is
available.
So
you
can
get
granular,
which
is
brilliant,
but
remember
people
are
only
willing
to
act
so
far,
the
more
difficult
issues,
the
higher
the
impact,
the
more
they
require
action
by
governments
and
regulators.

That's
one
of
the
conclusions
of
this
european
study,
however,
remember
that
governments
may
not
act
so
the
bottom
line
is
there
may
be
a
gap
between
what
is
needed
and
what
will
actually
happen,
but
you
can
leverage
and
influence
government
priorities
and
government
change.
A
Remember
that
this
isn't
just
about
individual
action.
People
are
social
animals,
as
we've
discovered
through
the
pandemic
and
therefore
tap
into
our
social
nature,
as
well
as
our
individual
nature.
Difference
in
debate
is
good.
Go
for
it
knock
ideas
around,
don't
be
scared
of
emotions.
This
isn't
just
about
reasoned
argument.
This
is
also
and
it's
okay.

If
there
are
emotional
effects
both
on
you,
the
people
you're
working
with
and
the
people
you're
trying
to
target
or
influence
our
biggest
challenges
happen
at
key
points
in
our
lives
and
therefore
these
are
also
the
areas
where
we
are
most
able
to
influence
real
change
so
check
this
out
and
consider
this
in
terms
of
your
life
and
the
journey
that
each
of
us
goes
on
behavior
change.
If
it
is
one
of
the
strategies
you
recommend
is
complicated.
A
There
are
a
lot
of
relevant
factors
to
be
taken
into
account,
lots
of
potential
motivators
and
remember
in
behavior
change.
We
think
one
behavior
one
audience
one
motive
at
a
time,
but
what
we've
found
is
that
the
single
most
powerful
motivator
is
to
make
things
easy
to
act,
the
easier
to
act,
the
less
resistance,
the
more
likely
it
is
to
achieve
change
at
scale.
A
Start
not
on
natural
impact,
but
all
on
human
nature
and
things
that
are
important
to
you
in
your
life
and
the
lives
of
others
that
those
things
are
dependent
on
nature
and
the
natural
environment.
So
if
we
start
there,
we
are
more
likely
to
be
able
to
persuade
others
to
engage
with
us.
It's
okay.
If
there
are
areas
of
uncertainty
there
always
will
be
there
always
are.
A
There
will
also
be
trade-offs,
so,
for
example,
this
is
a
scheme
in
leave,
insulin
and
south
manchester,
so
making
your
local
street
more
human,
more
oriented
around
kids
and
people
and
contact
will
also
have
an
impact
on
car
use,
and
drivers
won't
be
too
happy.
So
remember,
there
are
different
constituents.

Different
groups
of
people
interested
in
different
ways.
Also
individual
behaviors
will
require
a
trade-off
of
your
values,
so
changing
and
encouraging
others
to
change
the
number
of
holidays.
They
have
how
far
they
travel
to
work
or
to
have
a
break
is
a
challenge
to
other
values
like
their
freedom,
their
contact
with
friends
and
that's
okay.
To
acknowledge
that
everyone
will
want
to
be
involved.
We
are
pushing
at
open
doors
here.
Businesses
are
actively
engaged
and
have
been
for
a
long
time.
It's
easy
to
identify.
A
Those
who
want
to
join
in
and
communities
are
fully
not
fully.
Not
yet
that's
part
of
the
remit,
I
think,
but
volunteers
are
up
for
the
task.
You
are
more
powerful
than
you
think
you
can
request
and
seek
and
demand
the
kind
of
powers
that
you
need
to
leverage
think
out.
The
box
be
creative,
think
and
imagine
what,
if
possibilities,
make
connections
that
don't
necessarily
exist
right
now,
for
example,
working
from
home
or
near
home
may
give
fresh
life
to
the
idea
of
the
library.

you
can't
work
at
home
because
of
small
kids,
you
can
work
near
home.
There
are
all
kinds
of
possibilities
that
may
be
a
little
bit
lateral,
but
differentiate
between
three
things:
things
you
can
control
or
the
local
authority,
control
and
controls
things
you
can
influence
and
things
you
will
simply
need
to
accept
bottom
line
is
nothing
is
too
difficult.
The
challenge
is
big,
but
it's
there
for
you
and
you're
up
for
it.
