Police & Fire Pension Board meetings are held every quarter, 4th Tuesday of January, April, July, October.

PUBLIC MEETING GUIDELINES

Albany Advisory Body meetings are conducted in person at City Hall Council Chambers. As a courtesy, and technology permitting, members of the public may continue to participate virtually. However, the City cannot guarantee that the public’s access to teleconferencing technology will be uninterrupted, and technical difficulties may occur from time to time.

How to watch the meeting from home:

Meetings are available to watch, listen, or participate virtually via Zoom webinar. Register for the meeting: https://albanyca.zoom.us/s/97217084850. To join by phone via Zoom, please call 1 (669) 900-9128 at the noticed meeting time. Webinar ID 972 1708 4850. Participant ID “#”.
Meetings are also streamed live on City website www.albanyca.org/meetings or on YouTube (www.YouTube.com/AlbanyKALB). Recording of the meetings are usually available for viewing 24 hours after the meeting.
How to submit Public Comment:

Members of the public may attend Advisory Body meetings in person at City Hall Council Chambers and request to speak during public comment period.
Members of the public may submit comments in writing by emailing the City Clerk Cityclerk@albanyca.org with the agenda item number identified in the subject line of the email or by mail to City of Albany – Pension Board Meeting Comments, 1000 San Pablo Avenue, Albany, CA 94706. All written comments received by 1 PM on the day of the meeting will be provided to the Board before the meeting and posted on the City website. Other written comments received after 1 PM will still be provided to the Board and be included as part of the meeting record.
To comment by video conference, click the “Raise Your Hand” button to request to speak when Public Comment is being taken on the agenda item. You will be asked to unmute yourself when it is your turn to make your comment for up to 3 minutes. After the allotted time, you will then be re-muted.
To comment by phone, you will be prompted to “Raise Your Hand” by pressing *9 to request to speak when public comment is being taken on the agenda item. You will be asked to unmute yourself by pressing *6 when it is your turn to make your comment for up to 3 minutes. You will be re-muted after the allotted time.

At this meeting usually is fairly quick. Unless there's a presentation, then the presentation will make it a little longer 35-40 minutes so.

um Good afternoon, everyone I will call this meeting of the Albany Police and Fire pension board to order and I will read the land acknowledgment. The city of Albany recognizes that we occupy the land originally protected by The confederated Villages of lashon. We acknowledge the genocide that took place on these lands and must make strides to repay the moral debt that is owed to this indigenous people, specifically the Ohlone tribe. We thank them for their contributions, which have transformed our community and will continue to bring forth growth and unity.

The city of Albany commits to sustaining ongoing relationships with the tribe and together, build a better future for all that now make this their home, and can we please have a roll call.

None uh we will go the first report. We are tabling until the next meeting of this body, so we go right on to six one, which is an update on the pensions calculations.

We do have one member of the public, so I will will ask if we want any public comment.

Don't believe so all right, let's move on okay, so item six, one is the updated pension calculations. This happens in July every year for service retirees. Their calculation is based on an average of the last three years of mou salaries, depending on how many years they um how many years of service they had, and so we do that every year in their pension increases in July. So these are the calculations that will become effective in July. There is one disability retiree in fire that is also included in this disability.

Retiree pension calculations change with the mou, not on the three-year average. They are 50 percent of whatever current mou salaries are so there is one fire disability fires mou has a cost of living adjustment in July, so those are the ones that are being presented.
