A
F
Hi
good
evening,
so
we're
here
just
to
appeal
to
the
Common
Council
to
be
our
help
us
with
our
recruitment
efforts
and
be
a
part
of
our
community
recruiters.
So
we've
already
sought
the
help
of
many
people
in
the
community,
including
AK
pack,
and
this
is
honestly
a
group
we'd
love
to
include
in
the
recruitment
efforts
so
I'd
like
an
opportunity
to
talk
about
what
we've
done
where
we
are
and
where
we
hope
to
be.
Our
next
open,
competitive
police
officer.
F
Examination
is
on
December
2nd,
but
the
more
important
date
is
that
deadline
to
apply
for
that
test
is
October
24th.
So
what
we
have
here
are
some
some
rack
cards
that
we'd
love
to
hand
out
to
the
Common
Council,
that's
okay.
At
some
point
before
we
leave
and
the
most
important
information
on
that
is
the
website.
F
So
officer,
Smith
and
I
have
been
involved
in
the
recruitment
efforts
for
the
past
six
years,
three
iterations,
because
we
we
give
a
test
every
two
years
and
we're
proud
to
say
we
kind
of
professionalize
what
we're
doing
streamlined
it
and
tried
to
appeal
to
honestly
the
newer
generation.
So
we
created
with
the
help
of
Sarah
camp
down
in
City
Hall
the
mayor's
office.
F
She
assisted
us
in
creating
a
website
that
really
is
a
great
resource,
because
we
don't
when
we
when
we
rely
on
the
community
recruiters,
they
have
to
commit
to
memory
so
many
things:
age,
educational
requirements
and
a
whole
host
of
things.
So
this
is
great
because
it's
a
source
where
you
can
just
kind
of
go
on
that
website
on
that
webpage
and
all
your
questions
will
be
answered
so.
G
We
just
been
out
a
lot
throughout
the
community,
including
some
of
the
college's
we've
been
at
many
events
throughout
the
city.
Already
we've
done
more
this
year
than
we've
done
in
the
past,
but
we're
having
we're
having
issues
this
year.
The
lieutenant
can
go
over
some
numbers,
but
I
can
start
by
saying
that
the
deadline
for
this
exam
is
October
24th,
and
only
a
hundred
and
forty-four
people
are
registered
to
take
to
Albany
police
officers
exam
and
only
70.
Those
people
live
in
the
city
of
Albany,
so.
F
So,
in
the
years
past,
like
I,
said,
we've
been
doing
this
for
about
six
years.
In
2013
we
had
approximately
1,100
people
sign
up
for
the
exam
2015.
We
had
approximately
725
people
sign
up
for
the
exam,
and
this
year,
like
Officer
Smith
stated.
The
numbers
that
came
in
today
were
144.
We
have
just
just
more
than
a
week
left
and
it
is
frustrating
for
we
sin,
because
we've
done
so
much
it's
professionalize
is
for
crouppen
campaign
and
our
efforts,
we've
reached
out
to
I
mean
every
Avenue.
You
can
think
of.
F
We've
done
presentations
at
neighborhood
meetings
at
every
College
in
the
area.
The
social
media
push
and
like
I,
said
the
website.
We've
also
created
a
distribution
list,
so
people
can
email
us
24
hours
7
days
a
week,
and
so
it
is
a
little
frustrating
from
where
we
stand
now.
That's
why
we
really
do
need
the
help
of
everyone
in
the
city
and
I'm
glad
that
it's
televised
I,
don't
know
how
many
people
will
view
this,
but
if
we
can,
you
know,
gain
the
attention
of
more
people.
It
would
be.
It
would
be
very
helpful.
I.
G
Think
one
of
the
struggles
that
we
have
and
we've
learned
this
from
going
around-
not
just
this
community
but
some
of
the
colleges
and
around
here
is
the
residency
requirement.
So
if
you
know
somebody
in
the
city
that
would
make
a
good
police
officer
is
a
good
communicator
who
would
be
great
for
this
department,
this
departments
been
nationally
recognized
by
the
white
house.
We
are
a
great
department
and
we
had
those
cops
in
the
city.
G
Are
those
people
who
would
make
great
cops
in
the
city,
but
we
need
to
think
we
need
to
reach
out
to
them.
We
need
to
get
them
down
the
city
hall
here
to
file
for
this
exam
and
then
take
the
exam
on
December
2nd,
but
the
residency
requirement
has
been
a
struggle.
We
are
honest
with
people
about
it.
There
are
two
lists
when
you
take
the
police
officer,
exam,
there's
their
residency
list
and
there's
an
on
register
list.
I
can't
remember
the
last
time.
H
Okay
good
evening,
mr.
president
and
members
of
the
council,
thank
you
for
the
opportunity
to
speak
before
you
tonight,
Columbus
Day
honoring
the
supposed
discovery
of
this
country.
You
may
also
attributed
to
sales
on
furniture
and
cars.
It's
not
even
worth
that
I'm
here
tonight
to
ask
you
exactly
the:
why
do
we
observe
name
celebrate
Columbus
Day
in
this
country?
First
off
there
are
no
records
of
him
personally
setting
foot
in
what
we
now
know
as
Continental
America.
H
Secondly,
he
wrote
about
the
natives.
He
quote
unquote
discovered
by
definition.
If
you
arrive
somewhere
and
there
are
already
people
living
there,
you
did
not
discover
a
new
continent.
Third,
he
thought
he
had
circumnavigated
the
globe
despite
crossing
one
ocean,
he's
also
responsible
for
the
slur
Indians
to
describe
native
people.
Fourth,
his
crews,
despicable
slaughter
of
everything
native
in
the
name
of
the
crown
which
we
are
still
doing
to
this
day.
The
only
way
we
honor
this
man
is,
we
don't
have
a
conscience
as
a
nation.
H
Columbus
was
a
mass
murderer
who
ended
up
fitting
white
America's
quote/unquote
discovery.
This
is
why
Columbus
Day
is
acceptable.
There's
no
other
reason.
Columbus
for
white
supremacy
to
America
Columbus's
journey
to
this
hemisphere
did
not
yield
a
discovery
of
any
kind.
It
all
served
in
a
mass
genocide
of
somewhere
between
50
and
100
million
native
people.
Let
me
repeat
that
50
to
100
million
people,
honoring
Columbus,
is
akin
to
of
Germany
had
a
day
honoring
Hitler
just
so
that
there's
no
doubt
about
this.
I
want
to
clarify.
H
Yes,
I
did
just
directly
compare
Christopher
Columbus
to
Adolf
Hitler.
This
day
is
based
on
immoral
beliefs
in
whitewashed
history.
If
you
have
a
heart
in
your
soul,
if
you
have
a
being
in
your
breath,
I
asked
you
to
change
the
official
designation
of
Columbus
Day
to
indigenous
Friday.
There
are
a
number
of
cities,
including
a
few
right
here
in
New,
York
State,
as
well
as
a
handful
of
states
that
have
made
this
change.
New
York
City
is
also
in
the
process
of
reviewing.
H
I
Well,
good
evening,
everybody
Tom
Ellis,
head
of
a
North
pine,
a
of
an
Albany
and
I
want
to
talk
to
you
about
the
possible
sale
of
a
property
that
the
city
of
Albany
owns
in
the
town
of
Queens.
About
25
years
ago,
Albany
began
purchasing
a
363
acre
parcel
and
they
intended
to
use
it
to
build
a
landfill
which
would
be
an
alternative
to
the
rapid
landfill.
I
The
city
paid
a
premium
price
for
it,
I
think
more
than
five
million
dollars
and
the
property
could
not
be
used
for
a
landfill
because
it
has
more
than
100
acres
of
wetlands
on
it.
The
acreage
of
wetlands
changes
from
year
to
year,
I
worked
with
people
in
the
town
of
Queens
about
10
12
13
years
ago,
and
we
were
able
to
raise
awareness
about
the
wetlands
and
I'll.
Tell
you.
Some
of
the
people
in
Queens
in
Ravena
were
rather
angry
at
the
city
of
Albany,
because
Albany
has
its
reservoir
in
the
town
of
Queens.
I
We
get
our
water
from
Queens.
We
get
high
quality
water
from
Queens,
and
people
thought
it
really
arrogant
that
a
city
could
think
that
it
could
dump
its
trash
in
the
same
town
that
it
gets
its
water
from
Queens
is
not
a
colony
of
Albany
anyways.
Now,
there's
talk
of
selling
the
property,
but
I
know
that
Dec
made
an
offer
at
one
point,
I
think
for
six
hundred
and
sixty
three
thousand
dollars
to
purchase
the
property
and
there's
another
offer
now
I.
I
B
J
Lo
and
behold
last
week
somebody
got
hit
Ron,
Russell
and
cottage
in
a
general
area
about
4:30
to
5:30
in
the
evening.
When
it's
dust
out,
he
can
hardly
see
him
I,
don't
know
how
bad
the
person
got
hurt,
but
they
did
have
to
transport
the
person
to
the
hospital
and
an
ambulance.
I
can't
tell
you
how
important
the
sidewalks
are
and
new
people
all
know
him,
because
you
have
sidewalks
one
in
a
15th
Ward
we
don't
and
for
a
student
to
walk
to
school,
it's
almost
humanly
impossible.
J
If
you
try
to
walk
some
of
the
streets,
we
have
so
with
that
being
said
again,
I
hope
when
you
do
review
the
Dec
or
you
look
at
the
capital
projects
that
in
there
is
sidewalks
for
the
15th
Ward
on
Russell
Road
I
want
to
point
out
one
other
thing
too.
Last
week,
like
two
weeks
ago,
Riya
Gobi
passed
a
an
ordinance
about
shoveling
your
sidewalks
24
hours
after
it's
know,
I
think
everybody
must
have
forgot.
Last
year,
where
chair
the
15th
Ward
didn't
see
a
plow
for
three
days.
Three
days
we
had
no
plow.
J
Our
roads
were
almost
impassable
I'm,
not
complaining
about
the
roads
being
unfair
scible
and
all
of
that,
because
I
realized
that
the
workers
had
to
clear
downtown
for
people
to
come,
go
to
work.
But
how
do
you?
How
do
you
do
this?
What
do
you
do?
You
call
up
the
Dec
and
you
say
the
streets
are
a
few
sidewalks.
J
We
have
on
Western
Avenue,
well,
they're,
not
being
plow
I
have
to
send
a
man
from
the
Dec
to
look
and
see
if
the
sidewalks
have
been
clean
and
then
I
have
to
dispatch
a
crew
to
a
shovel
the
sidewalks.
It
just
seems
redundant
all
these
people
and
we
hardly
have
enough
people
to
keep
our
streets
clean.
The
other
thing
I
want
to
talk
about
is
the
caucus
that
you
had
Wednesday
night
and
where
you
discussed
the
sale
of
the
sale
of
property
down
in
Queens.
J
J
I
would
have
thought
that
if
I
had
to
pay
for
another
appraisal,
then
I
would
have
got
a
third
appraisal
and
then
matched
each
appraisal
against
the
other
and
see
where
do
I
fall
and
how
much
I
should
ask
for
the
land
down
in
Queens.
No,
you
use
the
same
guy
who
did
Dec
and
he
came
back
with
the
same
price.
J
D
C
C
These
these
meetings
are
very
informative
and
very
helpful
for
the
kinds
of
questions
that
council
members
who
do
attend
are
asking
for
us
to
get
clarification
on
a
number
of
issues.
I
want
to
note,
especially
for
mr.
Russo,
that
tomorrow
night,
the
Department
of
General
Services
will
be
appearing
before
the
committee
and
also
the
office
of
the
treasurer's
that's
at
5:30
tomorrow,
and
then
we
have
on
Wednesday
the
office
of
audit
and
control
and
the
Albany
Police
Department,
and
then
next
week
we
also
have
on
Monday
Tuesday
in
Thursday.
C
L
Thank
You
mr.
president,
I
just
want
to
note
that
the
peg
ad
hoc
committee
will
be
meeting
on
the
19th,
so
this
Thursday
at
5:30.
The
purpose
of
that
meeting
is
to
discuss
the
reappointment
of
the
council
appointees,
and
so,
if
you
have,
if
you're
interested
in
participating
in
that
meeting,
we
welcome
you
to
attend.
We
will
have
members
of
the
the
peg
Oversight
Board
present
as
well,
so
that
we
can
solicit
input
about
some
of
the
challenges,
the
barriers
and
potential
solutions.
But
the
focal
point
of
that
meeting
will
be
discussing
appointees.
L
M
Thank
you
doctor,
please
just
reminded
me,
since
we
are
now
on
YouTube
I
did
want
to
make
a
note
that
we
will
soon
be
issuing
a
call
for
applications
for
one
position
on
the
citizens,
Police
Review
Board,
and
so
please
look
out
for
that.
We
need
people
from
across
the
city.
We
do
have
one
member
who
is
finishing
up
his
term
and
is
not
seeking
a
second
term
or
yeah.
Thank
you.
