A LOCAL LAW AMENDING THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF ALBANY IN
REGARD TO RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS OF COMMON COUNCIL MEMBERS

LOCAL LAW A – 2021
A LOCAL LAW AMENDING SECTION 202 (CONTINUOUS TERMS) OF ARTICLE 2 (ELECTIVE OFFICERS) OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF ALBANY TO PROVIDE FOR NONPARTISAN ELECTIONS

The Committee reviewed Resolution 1.11.21R and 2.11.21R. Resolution 1.11.21R encourages a community conversation on changes to the flag of the City of Albany. Resolution 2.11.21R that calling on the legislature to enact legislation that would allow absentee ballots to be counted earlier.

The Committee reviewed Local Law E - 2020 that establish an omnibus provision in City Code proving for the removal of appointees to public bodies for cause.

The Committee reviewed and discussed Ordinance 34.101.19 (MC) that raise the fee for birth and death records to $15 and Resolution 11.21.20R (MC) that recognize the City of Albany Albany Common Council Legislative Black and Hispanic Caucus.

The Committee will reviewed and discussed Ordinance 37.102.19 that creates a process for proposing, approving and posting honorary street re-namings.

The Committee reviewed Ordinance 32.101.19 and Ordinance 34.101.19. Ordinance 32.101.19 waive the fee for obtaining a marriage license for those members of the public who are serving active duty in the United States Armed Forces and to reduce the fee for a certificate of marriage from $15 to $10. Ordinance 34.101.19 raises the fee for birth and death records to $15.
