The Committee discussed The City of Albany’s Police Reform & Reinvention Collaborative's recommendations. The Committee reviewed Local Law J of 2020 As Amended 020121. Local Law J of 2020 enhances the CPRB’s authority and ability to exercise oversight, review, and resolution of community complaints alleging abuse of police authority.

Local Law I of 2020 implement a policy for the use of city-owned body or dashboard cameras by police officers and to require reporting when the cameras are turned off by the officer. The Committee interviewed candidates for the Community Police Review Board (CPRB).

The Committee reviewed Local Law H of 2020, Local Law of I of 2020, and Local Law J of 2020. The Committee reviewed Ordinance 15.81.20. Ordinance 15.81.20 regulate the City of Albany on usage of facial recognition technology.

The Committee also discussed the City of Albany Violence Prevention Task Force.

The Committee discussed recent gun violence and the development of a plan to prevent violence in the city of Albany.

The Committee reviewed Ordinance 12.62.20 which requires the Albany Police Department to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests in Spanish.

The Committee met to get updates on gun violence and Albany Police response to calls for services during NYS on PAUSE. The Committee discussed concerns over barbeque grill and firepits use during the upcoming months.
