We
acknowledge
that
we
gather
here
today
on
the
traditional
lands
of
the
denina
people
of
the
upper
Cook
Inlet
for
thousands
of
years.
The
den
of
people
have
been.
The
continued
have
continued
to
be
the
stewards
of
this
land.
Asd
is
committed
to
diversity
and
inclusion,
and
it
is
with
honor
and
respect
that
we
recognize
all
indigenous
people
who
live
and
learn
in
our
community.
B
Good
evening
soon
to
be
graduates,
students
helping
out
here
tonight,
School
Board
member
Dora,
Wilson,
Anchorage
superintendent,
Dr
Jarrett,
Bryant,
director
Kathy,
Moffett
and
senior
director
Diana
Beltran
parents
and
friends-
I
am
Dr
Kern,
McKinley,
King,
Tech,
High,
School,
principal
and
I
warmly.
Welcome
you
to
this
long-awaited
and
special
graduation
ceremony
before
we
dive
into
my
speech.
I
want
graduates
to
listen
carefully,
we're
going
to
Express
gratitude
to
your
family
and
friends
that
are
gathered
here
today,
who
are
here
to
honor
you.
They
are
proud
graduates.
B
B
graduates.
You
came
to
King
Tech
because
you
wanted
something
no
other
school
in
the
Anchorage
School
District
had
to
offer.
You
wanted
a
different
education,
an
education
that
was
personalized,
an
education
that
was
non-traditional,
an
education
with
an
applied
Hands-On
approach
to
learning
an
education
that
helped
you
find
and
fund
your
future
at
King
Tech.
You
found
an
education
like
no
other
that
specialized
in
skilled
trades,
applied
scientists,
Sciences,
modern
Technologies
and
career
preparation.
B
B
The
energy
of
the
school
is
super
positive
and
we
can
tell
the
teachers
are
happy
there.
They
go
the
extra
mile
for
us,
they
say
things
like
I
came
to
King
Tech,
because
I
wanted
to
be
there
not
because
I
had
to
they
say:
I
learned,
Things
New
in
every
class
and
now
I
have
more
choices.
To
make
about
my
future.
B
B
The
vision
for
the
king
Tech
full-time
option
was
put
into
motion
six
years
ago,
I'm
pleased
to
share.
Over
the
past
five
years,
we've
graduated
406
students
and,
as
a
result,
we've
played
a
significant
role
in
helping
students
find
and
fund
their
future
I'd
like
to
take
this
opportunity
to
show
my
appreciation
for
all
the
family,
members,
friends,
coaches,
mentors
employers
and
high
school
teachers.
Thank
you
for
pouring
your
hearts
and
souls
into
these
amazing
King
Tech
students
there's
a
popular
self-help
book
published
in
1937
called
Think
and
Grow
Rich
by
Napoleon
Hill.
B
B
B
B
This
information
did
not
surprise
me,
because
this
is
something
we
have
known
a
lot
about
for
years
in
Career
and
Technical
education,
and
it's
something
we've
strongly
emphasize
at
King,
Tech
and
again,
I
feel
great
telling
you
this,
because
it
validates
what
we
do
at
King
Tech.
We
teach
and
model
solve
skills,
but
we
go
a
step
further
and
we
call
them
professional
skills.
B
B
B
B
B
B
B
B
What
risks
are
you
willing
to
take
to
achieve
your
goals
over
the
course
of
the
next
several
years
of
your
life?
The
investment
you
make
in
building
the
best
you
will
building
the
best
will
reveal
itself
meet.
Failure
is
an
opportunity
to
discover
success,
build
strong
and
healthy
relationships
and
practice.
B
C
Welcome
King,
Tech
friends,
families
and
graduating
students,
I'm
sure
we've
all
been
asked
the
question:
what
do
you
want
to
do
when
you
grow
up
growing
up
the
possibilities
were
endless.
I
had
many
answers
to
that
question
that
changed
very
rapidly
a
soldier,
a
chef
and
just
about
anything
I
could
possibly
think
of
soon
enough.
That
question
changed
too.
What
do
you
want
to
do
after
high
school?
C
That
question
was
much
harder
to
answer
two
years
ago.
I
would
have
said
I
had
no
idea.
Junior
year
came
around
and
I
had
transferred
to
King
Tech
in
search
of
the
answer
to
that
question,
not
knowing
where
it
would
lead
me
as
I
walked
through
the
halls.
I
found
myself
drawn
to
a
class
I,
never
thought
I
had
the
chance
to
try
I
decided
to
join
film
and
audio
many
students
from
all
different
parts
of
Alaska
walk
to
these
halls
in
search
for
their
own
answer
to
that
question.
C
Well,
we've
all
gone
through
this
journey
seeking
to
find
out
what
will
be
we've
discovered,
who
will
be
many
of
us
discovered
skills
in
ourselves?
We
would
have
never
thought
to
see
will
have
seen
before
if
it
wasn't
for
the
experience
the
school
has
given
us,
we
were
shown
all
the
possibilities
of
becoming
something
great
and
in
the
process
we
became
someone
great
coming
to
the
school.
C
Not
only
did
we
get
to
spend
our
time
forging
our
paths,
but
we
got
to
watch
our
peers
walk
their
own
I
encourage
all
of
us
as
we
cross
this
stage
today,
to
think
about
not
only
the
amazing
career
paths
to
work
towards,
but
also
the
amazing
people
we
want
to
become
who
you
are
is
decided
by
you.
It
is
up
to
you
to
find
success
within
the
person
you
grow
to
be
as
I
look
into
this
crowd.
C
C
We
would
get
to
walk
away
today,
confident
ourselves,
knowing
that
we
get
a
head
start
in
our
futures.
Thank
you,
King
tech
for
giving
us
a
chance
to
dream
bigger
than
we
ever
did
before,
for
helping
us
become
the
strong,
independent
adults
we
are
today.
Thank
you
to
all
the
teachers
and
staff
members
for
caring
about
each
and
every
one
of
us.
We
made
it
here
today
because
of
you.
C
I
and
thank
you.
I
would
have
not
found
the
confidence
today
to
be
on
the
stage
without
you
I
invite
everyone
to
think
of
the
person
who
they
wish
to
think
someone
who
guided
guided
you
to
be
where
you
are
now
and
I
will
leave
you
all
with
the
quote
from
the
iconic
band.
Modest
Mouse,
don't
worry
even
if
things
end
up
a
bit
too
heavy
will
all
float
on.
D
D
D
It's
also
a
special
day
for
us,
the
teachers
and
staff
here
who
have
gotten
to
know
you
the
past
year
or
two,
some
of
you
even
longer
all
of
you
chose
King
tech
for
a
variety
of
reasons,
and
you
all
come
from
unique
situations
and
backgrounds.
You're.
You
chose
to
learn
from
us.
Even
when
the
snow
was
piling
up
on
the
winter
nights
became
challenging.
You
all
kept,
showing
up
to
learn
and
to
grow
and
I
can
think
of
No
Greater
honor
than
to
have
someone
in
the
pursuit
of
knowledge.
D
D
D
D
All
right
today
is
also
a
special
day
for
myself
and
not
because
the
new
Zelda
games
coming
out,
which
I'm
totally
playing
when
this
is
all
over
with,
but
because
20
years
ago
this
exact
same
month
at
Wasilla,
High,
School
I2,
is
getting
ready
for
my
high
school
graduation
I.
Remember
the
feeling
of
wide
emotions,
the
whole
variety
joy
happiness
doubt
concern,
but
the
thing
I
remember
most
was
the
lightness
I
felt
about
everything.
The
whole
event,
everything
around
me,
I
felt
like
I,
was
floating
I
could
still
remember.
D
D
It
didn't
feel
important
to
me
at
the
time.
I
was
working
a
part-time
job
and
making
some
pretty
good
money
and
graduate
I
felt
like
I,
had
already
made
my
next
step
and
I
probably
would
have
gotten
away
with
it
too,
but
my
mom
had
already
bought
a
plane
ticket
for
my
grandma
to
come.
See
me
graduate,
and
she
didn't
tell
me
until
the
week
before
graduation
so
I
had
to
get
my
graduation
life
together
at
the
last
minute.
D
D
D
Number
two
I
had
a
statistics:
Professor
Dr
petratus
Who
once
told
me
that
the
situation
is
90
percent
of
everything,
and
this
isn't
meant
to
deter
you
or
to
make.
You
feel
powerless,
because
it's
that
last
10
percent,
where
you
come
in
and
as
any
senior
doing
makeup
work
at
three
in
the
morning
before
something
is
due.
You
guys
know
that
every
percentage
Point
counts.
D
Number
three
Rachel
Berg,
my
boss,
at
the
Valley
Country
Store
way
back
when
I
graduated
high
school,
told
me
to
follow
my
dreams,
even
if
they
scared
the
hell
out
of
me
because
those
hard
and
terrifying
moments
or
were
you
on
the
verge
of
your
greatest
change?
D
D
Number
four
is
my
good
friend
Matt
Jordan
told
me
that
his
dad
told
him
this
and
it
kind
of
stuck
with
me,
but
he
told
me
never
to
skimp
on
the
things
that
keep
you
off
the
ground.
Don't
buy.
Cheap
shoes
don't
buy,
cheap
bed,
don't
buy
cheap
tires.
These
are
the
things
that
are
going
to
serve
you
to
keep
you
comfortable
rested
on
the
road
to
your
next
adventure.
D
D
D
and
so
on
and
so
forth,
but
their
hope
for
a
better
life
and
a
better
world
and
for
themselves
and
for
their
families,
push
them
to
make
the
changes
and
take
the
chances
they
needed
to
be
successful.
Hope
is
a
powerful
fuel,
but
hope
also
needs
to
be
fed
and
nourished
make
time
for
those
things
that
fill
you
with
hope.
Like
volunteering
for
a
special
cause,
working
on
a
passion
project
or
even
listening
to
a
duster
song
at
Sunset
hope
is
a
good
thing,
never
give
up
on
it.
D
These
are
not
going
to
be
the
last
nuggets
of
wisdom
that
are
shared
with
you
and
you
will
have
much
to
share
with
the
world.
I
am
so
very
excited
for
all
of
the
wonderfully
beautiful
lives
that
you
are
all
about
to
embark
on.
You
will
experience
Joys
beyond
your
imagination
and
you
are
going
to
be
challenged
and
pushed
further
than
you
ever
thought
possible.
D
This
road
is
challenging.
You
are
going
to
stumble.
You
will
doubt
yourself
you're
going
to
fall
down,
but
the
world
does
not
care
how
many
times
you
fall
down
so
long
as
it
is
one
fewer
than
the
number
of
times
you
get
back
up,
and
if
it's
one
thing
that
I've
noticed
about
the
students
from
King
Tech,
High
School,
you
always
get
back
up
always
to
the
king,
Tech,
High,
School
class
of
2023.
