Reopening Report - Dec. 9, 2020
A
Hi
again
everybody
and
welcome
to
this
week's
reopening
report
first
and
foremost
this
week.
I
want
to
welcome
our
three
newest
board
members
who
each
took
their
oath
of
office
on
december
7th
robert
silkworth
of
district
2,
corrine,
frank
of
district
3
and
joanna
baige
tobin
of
district
6
will
each
bring
unique
and
valuable
insights
to
our
board,
and
I
am
very
much
looking
forward
to
working
with
them.
A
I
also
want
to
thank
the
four
members
whose
terms
just
expired:
julie,
hummer,
terry
gilliland,
robert
leib
and
eric
grannon
made
us
a
better
school
system
and
me
a
better
superintendent.
During
their
terms
on
the
board,
I
am
thankful
for
their
service
to
our
children
and
wish
them
the
best
in
whatever
the
future
holds
for
them.
A
A
One
of
the
changes
families
will
see
as
early
as
january
is
an
increase
in
the
number
of
instructional
minutes
at
both
whole
group
and
small
group
opportunities
at
all
levels.
To
support
this
change.
We
are
offering
additional
teacher
professional
development
on
virtual
instruction
and
assessment
homework
and
grading
in
the
virtual
world
and
how
to
maximize
small
group
and
study
group
instructional
time.
A
A
The
safety
and
security
committee
has
created
supports
for
principals,
who
are
working
to
ready
their
schools
for
new
traffic
flow
patterns.
Both
for
both
vehicles
and
people,
when
schools
reopen
those
plans,
include
revisions
to
bus
and
car
drop
off
and
pick
up
routes,
new
building
entrance
and
exit
patterns
and
new
outdoor
recess
stations.
A
Primary
and
intermediate
google
sessions
are
available
in
english
and
spanish.
More
infor
information
is
available
from
our
elementary
schools
or
at
www.aacps.org
forward.
Slash
virtual
learning,
as
I've
said
many
times
before,
wearing
masks,
is
critical
to
helping
to
stem
the
spread
of
covert
19.
for
some
of
our
students,
particularly
those
with
special
needs.
Wearing
a
mask
is
difficult.
