Once
the
graduates
are
in
place,
we
will
have
the
playing
of
our
national
anthem.
Following
the
anthem,
we
will
begin
conferring
diplomas
to
our
graduates.
After
all,
diplomas
have
been
conferred.
We
will
move
weather
permitting
to
our
student
and
board
of
education
speakers
if
we
have
to
evacuate
the
stadium
for
any
reason,
following
the
conferral
of
diplomas,
we
will
not
resume
the
ceremony.

D
I
I
Surely
this
hasn't
been
the
senior
year
that
any
of
us
wished
for
we
wanted
to
be
socially
engaged
and
not
socially
distant,
but
that
was
beyond
our
control.
I'm
proud
of
the
class
for
persevering
and
graduating.
Despite
this
adversity,
congratulations!
Everyone
reflecting
on
our
time
here,
I'm
amazed
at
everything
we've
experienced
from
the
classroom
to
the
fields
to
the
stage
we've
seen
incredible
feats:
we've
won
regional
championships
with
boys
and
girls,
basketball
field
hockey
and
football.
We've
won
state
championships
with
our
great
baseball
team
and
our
boys
4
by
200
meter
track
relay
team.
I
I
I
Our
time
at
old
mill
has
truly
been
a
blast
and,
aside
from
the
big
events,
I
think
we'll
all
leave
with
enduring
memories
of
the
little
things
that
make
old
mill
high
school,
great
I'll,
never
forget
the
creative
costumes
worn
during
spirit
week,
the
pep
rallies
or
the
marching
band
promenading
down
the
hall
building
hype
for
a
home
football
game
on
friday
night.
I
know
I'll,
never
forget
the
marching
band.
I
I
Each
graduate
will
face
a
unique
path,
unlike
anyone
who
graduated
before
him
or
her
or
any
who
will
come
after
to
those
satisfied
with
their
achievements
in
high
school.
Don't
let
up,
because
I
assure
you
the
hard
work
is
only
getting
started.
If
you
think
you
could
have
done
better,
you
needn't
worry
because
tomorrow
we
all
start
anew
each
day.
Going
forward
is
another
opportunity
in
which
to
excel,
and
I
urge
everyone
to
apply
themselves
fully
and
to
make
a
difference
in
closing
I'd
love
to
thank
everyone
in
attendance.
One
more
time.
I
It
means
the
world
to
the
class
to
have
guests
to
see
us
graduate
here.
Congratulations,
old
mill,
high
school
class
of
2021..
The
future
is
full
of
possibilities
for
each
and
every
one
of
us,
and
I
can't
wait
to
see
where
each
graduate's
path
takes
them.
I
look
forward
to
reuniting
and
hearing
what
adventures
we've
been
up
to.
Thank
you,
congratulations
again
and,
as
always,
go
patriots.

Mr
silkworth
is
a
lifelong
resident
of
anne
arundel
county
and
was
elected
to
represent
councilmanic
district
2
of
the
board
of
education
in
november
2020,
beginning
a
four-year
term
on
december
7
2020.,
mr
silkworth
is
a
product
of
anne
arundel,
county
schools
and
a
graduate
of
brooklyn
park
high
school.
He
is
also
a
veteran
of
the
united
states
army
reserves
having
served
from
1967
to
1972.
E
F
F
my
children
went
to
oatmeal
and
graduated,
so
I,
although
I
taught
at
north
county
as
the
night,
I
have
always
also
been
a
patriot,
and
I
stand
before
you
this
morning.
A
proud
patriot,
a
proud
teacher
and
a
proud
member
of
the
board
of
education.
Patriot
pride
today
is
evident,
oatmeal
patriots.
What
makes
you
so
unique
is
that
you
have
shown
your
patriot
pride
under
some
of
the
most
difficult
circumstances
that
any
class
has
ever
faced.
F
The
challenges
for
everyone
were
overwhelming,
yet
you
met
the
challenges
and
you
have
succeeded
in
earning
a
high
school
diploma
in
anne
arundel
county
and
at
oak
mill
education
matters,
because
it
ultimately
leads
to
a
future
with
opportunity
for
all
that
bright
future
will
commence
soon
for
patriots,
and
I'm
certain
more
greatness
is
yet
to
come.
So
here
we
are
commencement
2021,
the
word
commencement.
Actually
comes
from
the
french
word
kamasama,
which
means
beginning,
and
so
it
will
be
for
all
of
you,
a
new
beginning.
F
A
new
phase
of
your
life
is
about
to
commence,
and
it
will
take
you
in
so
many
different
directions.
Depending
upon
your
ambitions
and
your
goals,
I
ask
that
you
reflect
just
for
a
moment,
I
believe
in
the
power
of
relationships.
Our
relationships
with
others
are
the
greatest
determinant
of
our
happiness
and
our
success
during
your
career.
As
a
patriot,
you
have
created
relationships
with
so
many
important
people
and
your
success
is
a
direct
result
of
those
relationships.
F
Please
take
the
time
to
remember
and
to
thank
those
who
have
touched
your
life
in
so
many
ways,
those
who
have
made
such
a
difference
in
your
life.
I
also
believe
in
the
power
of
gratitude
people
who
regularly
practice
gratitude
by
taking
time
to
notice
and
reflect
upon
the
things
that
they
are
thankful
for,
experience,
more
positive
emotions.
They
feel
more
alive,
they
sleep,
better,
express,
more
compassion
and
kindness
and
they
even
have
a
stronger
immune
system.
F
Patriots.
Remember
the
power
of
gratitude.
Thank
your
friends
for
being
there,
for
you.
Always,
and
for
offering
help
a
helping
hand
when
you
needed
it
the
most.
There
is
great
power
in
friendship,
loyalty
and
caring.
The
time
that
you
have
invested
with
your
friends
has
created
bonds,
which
will
continue
to
grow
and
which
are
so
very
special
and
unique.
A
caring
friend
does
make
a
difference,
but
being
a
good
friend
is
just
as
important
as
having
friends
always
show.
F
Your
appreciation
for
your
friends
reminds
me
of
a
young
student
in
order
to
show
graduate
he
and
his
classmates
were
asked
to
draw
something
for
which
they
were
grateful.
They
all
shared
what
they
had
drawn.
One
girl
drew
several
trees
and
said
she
was
grateful
to
them
for
the
oxygen
they
provided.
Jason
drew
two
stick
parents
and
he
shared
that
without
them
he
would
not
even
be
here
with
us
rebecca,
drew
a
candy
bar
and
said
that
she
was
grateful
for
chocolate,
be
because
it
was
so
good
and
sweet.
F
Simon,
however,
drew
the
outline
of
a
hand.
They
tried
to
guess
whose
hand
he
had
drawn.
Someone
suggested
that
it
was
the
hand
of
a
local
policeman
or
fireman,
because
they
always
help.
It
was
not
someone
else
suggested
that
it
was
in
fact
the
hand
of
god,
and
simon
said
no,
it
was
not
simon
turned,
and
perhaps
you
should
simon,
turned
to
his
teacher
and
said
it
is
your
hand.
You
have
always
offered
a
helping
hand
to
me,
no
matter
what,
from
the
very
beginning
no
strings
attached.
F
F
I
now
take
this
personal
privilege
and
public
opportunity
to
stand
before
you
and
thank
all
teachers
and
staff,
both
former
and
current,
at
old
mill
high
school,
their
dedication
for
old
mill
students.
Students
has
been,
and
continues
to
be
amazing
and
heartwarming
on
behalf
of
the
old
milk
class
of
2021.
F
You
are
almost
ready
to
commence
that
new
phase
of
your
life.
Please
know
that
it
will
continue
to
be
about
the
power
of
relationships
about
building
new
relationships
always
be
positive
in
whatever
you
set
out
to
do
always
persevere
and
give
your
very
best
always
be
kind.
Courteous
and
respectful
of
others
know
that
you
will
surely
fall
from
time
to
time.
Although
failure
might
be
an
option,
remember
that
you
must
always
get
back
up,
no
matter
what,
because
you
have
learned
that
if
you
stay
down,
you
will
never
succeed.
F
This
class
has
learned
that
more
than
any
other
class.
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
for
me
another
moment
of
personal
privilege,
I've
had
the
honor
and
privilege
to
teach
for
many
years
in
this
county.
I
thank
anne
arundel
county
for
that
honor.
I
thank
the
patriots
of
oatmeal,
the
class
of
2021
for
your
respect
and
your
dedication
to
oatmeal
high
school,
but,
more
importantly,
for
your
respect
and
your
dedication
to
yourselves.
F
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
on
behalf
of
the
board
of
education
of
anne
arundel
county,
I
bring
greetings
and
I
congratulate
the
old
milk
patriot
class
of
2021.
Let
everyone
know
that,
in
the
face
of
adversity,
these
young
men
and
women
continue
to
show
patriot
pride.
They
have
finished
this
climb
with
grace
courage
and
understanding,
and
they
are
soon
to
climb
again
different
mountains,
different
paths,
different
challenges
with
new
obstacles
and
new
goals.
Rest
assured
anne
arundel
county
that
our
future
will
be
in
good
hands.
E
E
E
E
I'd
especially
like
to
thank
our
old

faculty
and
staff
who
work
tirelessly
to
prepare
kids
for
this
day
and
their
future.
Thank
you,
teachers

and,
lastly,
I
would
like
to

who
was
inspired

to

the
message,
a
message
that
I
will
borrow
as
I
speak
to
you
today
as
we
consider
the
last
four
years.
We
should
also
note
the
incredible
awards
and

of

accomplished
incredible
