In
deference
to
the
weather,
we
are
rearranging
our
program
order
today,
so
that
we
can
celebrate
our
graduates.
First,
please
rise
as
graduates
begin
to
make
their
way
into
the
stadium
and
remain
standing
until
they
are
all
in
place.
Once
the
graduates
are
in
place,
we
will
have
the
playing
of
our
national
anthem.

Will
everyone
please
stand
for
the
presentation
of
colors
and
remain
standing
for
the
national
anthem?
The
national
anthem
was
recorded
by
the
annapolis
high
school
seniors,
micah,
stevens
and
hailey
rapp.
Please
remain
standing
until
the
flags
have
been
posted
and
the

During
a
normal
year,
high
school
is
already
one
of
the
more
difficult
times
in
your
life.
You
don't
really
know
what's
going
on,
but
at
the
same
time,
for
whatever
reason
you
think
everyone
else
does,
it
doesn't
really
make
sense
by
the
time
you
understand
that
everyone's
in
the
same
boat
of
just
kind
of
faking
it
until
you
make
it
you're
already.
A
junior
and
half
of
high
school
has
gone
by
junior
year
is
supposed
to
be
a
turning
point
in
high
school
you're.
C
That's
not
what
our
junior
year
looked
like
a
two-week
extended
break
lasted
over
a
year
at
a
time
in
our
lives,
where
a
breakup
seemed
like
the
end
of
the
world.
We
were
facing.
A
global
pandemic
school
was
all
but
cancelled,
and
I
know
we
were
all
super
upset
about
that
part.
However,
we
also
lost
out
on
our
sports
seasons,
our
play,
performances
and
our
spring
concerts.
C
We
were
told
to
stay
away
from
our
families
and
friends
to
protect
them,
and
we
began
to
worry
about
the
health
of
our
loved
ones.
As
with
everything
there's
a
silver
lining.
We
found
ourselves
with
more
time
than
we
knew
what
to
do
with
and
we
all
we
may
not
want
to
admit
it.
We
spent
that
time
learning
we
learned
about
our
community,
our
interests
and
ourselves.
C
C
C
We
improved,
we
improved
our
physique
by
working
out
at
homemade,
gyms
and
going
on
runs.
We
spent
hours
scrolling,
instagram
and
tick
tock,
but
even
then
we
were
learning
about
our
community,
our
nation
and
our
world.
We
learned
about
injustices
and
social
issues
and
through
it
all
we
discovered
our
most
important
quality.
We
are
doers.
C
If
we
can
handle
this
past
year,
then
I
know
we
can
handle
whatever
comes
next.
The
only
question
is
what
comes
next.
Some
of
us
are
going
to
be
leaving
for
college
in
the
fall,
possibly
living
away
from
home.
For
the
first
time,
some
of
us
are
going
to
go
into
work,
jumping
straight
into
society
and
begin
to
make
our
mark
on
the
world.
C
A
I
I
I
I
It's
on
this
thursday
evening,
we
can
take
a
deep
breath
and
say
it
was
all
worth
it
with
all
these
disappointing
and
stressful
moments.
We
had
to
prepare
for
the
beginning
to
a
life
ahead
of
us
filled
with
obstacles,
anxieties,
fears
with
hardships
put
in
place
to
help
us
grow
the
same
way
this
pandemic
made
us
grow.
I
I
We'd
savor,
the
taste
of
adulthood,
feeling
it
at
the
tips
of
our
fingers
when
we
were
thrown
into
lockdown
being
confined
to
homes,
gave
us
nothing
but
time
to
ourselves
and
to
think
we
were
alone
with
time
workloads
to
let
crippling
anxiety
take
over
in
solitude.
With
ideas
filling
our
heads
about
being
unworthy
to
grow
up
and
be
successful,
fears
trying
to
torment
our
dreams,
attempting
to
claw
at
the
hope
that
would
make
our
parents
siblings
and
ourselves
proud,
self-doubting
thoughts
that
took
away
the
courage
we've
been
building
up
since
we
were
kids.
I
I
I
I
It's
now
that
I
fight
just
as
hard
as
they
did
it's
now
that
we
all
fight
just
as
hard
as
all
of
our
parents
did
and
continue
doing,
the
tormenting
thoughts
that
once
controlled
us
and
perhaps
seemed
as
unworthy,
can
be
put
to
rest
because
we're
in
control
education
is
the
one
thing
we
have
it's
the
reason
my
parents
risked
their
life
to
cross
the
border.
The
reason
my
father
continues
to
break
his
back
under
a
scorching,
sun
and
pounds
of
snow.
I
D
D
She
received
her
early
education
while
attending
local
schools
in
hong
kong,
zambia,
nigeria,
cameroon
and
ghana,
as
the
daughter
of
a
u.s
foreign
service
officer
before
returning
to
pennsylvania
for
high
school,
dr
tobin
previously
was
a
member
of
the
faculty
at
st
john's
college
in
annapolis,
where
she
taught
throughout
the
curriculum.
She
now
works
independently
as
a
consultant
moderating
leadership
seminars
for
the
aspen
institute
and
chairing
accreditation
teams
evaluating
public
charter
networks
around
the
country
prior
to
returning
to
graduate
school.
Dr
tobin
worked
as
an
actress
and
an
arts
administration
in
volunteer
service.
D
Dr
tobin
has
worked
in
a
number
of
different
capacities
in
the
community.
She
previously
served
as
chair
of
the
anne
arundel
county
citizens
advisory
committee
on
recycling
at
annapolis,
friends
meeting.
She
was
the
co-chair
of
the
children's
religious
education
committee.
She
has
also
served
on
and
chaired
the
board
of
a
local
private
school.
Most
recently,
she
served
as
the
vice
president
of
the
ptsa
at
annapolis,
high
school
for
three
years,
she's.
Also
a
member
of
the
colonial
players
where
she
has
appeared
in
several
productions.
E
E
E
E
Are
so
what
are
those
skills?
I'm
talking
about?
One
is
flexibility,
you
adjusted
you
kept
working,
however
hard
and
uncomfortable.
It
was,
and
you
figured
out
what
new
path,
what
new
skills
and
what
new
plans
it
would
take
to
get
you
where
you
needed
to
be-
and
here
you
are
another-
is
persistence.
E
E
You
kept
working
until
you
figured
out
how
learning
works
for
you,
and
that
is
one
of
the
most
valuable
skills
you
will
ever
ever
acquire.
Why?
Because
this
day
marks
a
beginning,
not
an
end,
and
you
will
need
to
keep
learning
for
the
rest
of
your
lives.
We
all
do
but
believe
me,
many
don't
gain
this
kind
of
knowledge
of
themselves,
this
kind
of
self-awareness
until
much
later
in
life.
You
are
ahead
of
the
game,
and
here
you
are.
E
What
you've
learned
about
yourselves
will
help
you
do
two
very
important
things.
First,
it
will
help
you
to
figure
out
how
to
learn.
What's
in
front
of
you,
whether
it's
in
your
next
job
or
college
or
wherever
life
takes
you,
you
can't
learn
what
you
need
to
know.
If
you
don't
know
how
to
learn
that
may
mean
figuring
out
who
to
ask
or
where
to
find
the
information.
E
Finally,
let
me
add
one
more
very
important
thing
that
I
hope
you
will
take
with
you
from
this
experience
and
from
making
it
through
this
extraordinary
time
of
upheaval
in
the
world.
Around
you,
it
is
a
piece
of
advice
that
one
of
my
mentors
gave
me
a
long
time
ago
and
that
I
believe,
is
one
of
the
greatest
gifts
anyone
has
ever
given
me
here.
It
is.
E
E
Very
few
of
us
could
really
have
believed
or
imagined
before
march
of
2020
that
a
little
virus
could
bring
the
world
to
a
halt,
but
it
did,
and
we've
had
to
listen
to
a
lot
of
people
and
ask
a
lot
of
questions
to
understand
how
to
move
forward
and
get
through
this
we've
had
to
learn
from
one
another,
but
honestly,
no
matter
how
much
you
keep
learning
there
will
always
be
so
much.
You
still
don't
know.
E
The
only
way
to
understand
that
is
to
listen
to
those
around
you
and
keep
learning
and
keep
listening
and
with
listening,
goes
asking
to
know
how
to
learn.
You've
got
to
listen
and
ask
questions
to
decide
what
to
learn.
You've
got
to
do
the
same
thing
and
I
believe
with
all
my
heart
right
now:
that's
what
the
world
needs
most
more
listening
and
asking
and
less
talking
and
telling
we've
never
needed
to
learn
from
one
another.
E
More
life
is
complex
and
we've
got
big
issues
to
tackle,
but
when
we
work
together,
we
can
do
it
when
you
work
with
others
learn
from
others.
I
promise
you
that
you
will
be
able
to
tackle
whatever
is
in
front
of
you,
just
as
you
have
over
these
years
of
high
school
that
have
gotten
you
to
this
celebration.
E
D
D
Families,
staff
distinguished
guests
and,
most
importantly,
the
annapolis
high
school
class
of
2021..
It
is
great
to
see
so
many
panthers
here
tonight.
I'm
excited
to
be
celebrating
the
senior
class
with
members
of
the
panther
family
as
we
prepare
to
award
our
seniors
their
high
school
diplomas
tonight.
D
You
began
your
time
in
high
school
in
2017,
confusing
time
when
you
couldn't
believe
that
pokemon
go
was
no
longer
as
popular
as
a
new
app
called
tick
tock
and
now
you're
ending
your
high
school
careers
in
2021
a
year
that
has
led
you
to
regularly
say
things
that
you
previously
had
rarely
spoken,
such
as
google
meets
hybrid
learning.
I
need
my
charger.
I
need
to
charge
my
chromebook
and
perhaps
most
notably
I've
been
attending
classes
from
home
so
long
I
actually
miss
coming
into
school
each
year.
D
D
Graduation
is
truly
the
culminating
event
of
your
high
school
careers,
but
it's
not
the
culminating
event
of
your
lives.
Rather.
Graduation
is
an
opportunity
to
celebrate
your
accomplishments
as
you
prepare
for
your
next
steps
in
life
after
a
high.
The
accomplishments
of
the
class
of
2021
are
many
and
are
impressive.
D
D
You
helped
the
a
high
key
club
become
recognized
as
the
mid-atlantic
key
club
of
the
year
in
2021.
Some
of
you
participated
in
the
first
model,
un
conference
ever
hosted
by
annapolis
high
school.
You
helped
our
fbla
compete
at
the
regional
state
and
national
levels
and
at
some
point
in
time
likely
early
in
your
freshman
year,
you
figured
out
just
how
much
service
you
get
on
your
cell
phone
on
the
red,
blue,
green
and
yellow
corners.
D
D
These
accomplishments
are
a
testament
to
your
effort
and
energy.
They
are
a
testament
to
your
willingness
to
embrace
the
challenges
and
manage
the
sometimes
difficult
grind
that
is
often
required
for
you
to
shine
as
a
class.
Earlier,
I
rather
casually
mention
the
concept
of
the
next
step.
The
next
step
is
an
interesting
idea,
because
it
means
something
different
to
all
of
you.
D
D
I
challenge
all
of
you
to
take
pride
in
making
sure
that
every
one
of
your
next
steps
positively
contributes
to
the
panther
family,
often
the
best
way
to
determine
what
is
next
is
to
ensure
that
you
do
not
forget
how
you
got
to
where
you
are
today,
as
we
reflect
on
your
collective
and
individual
accomplishments
of
the
last
four
years.
I
want
you
to
remember
that
you
will
always
be
a
member
of
the
panther
family.
D
For
me,
the
only
thing
that
is
going
to
be
more
exciting
than
you
becoming
alumni
this
evening
is
learning
about
all
the
awesome
things
that
you
accomplish
as
alumni
of
annapolis
high
school.
I
wish
every
single
one
of
you,
the
absolute
best
with
all
of
your
next
steps
and
hope
that
wherever
each
member
of
the
class
of
2021
goes
in
life,
that
they
are
extremely
happy
and,
of
course,
extremely
proud
to
be
a
panther.
Congratulations
to
all
of
you.
D
Please
remain
in
your
line
and
seated
until
ms
joe
and
mr
schreiber
indicate
that
it
is
your
turn
to
leave
at
that
time,
please
be
sure
to
follow
the
student
or
teacher
that
is
in
front
of
you,
mr
schreiber
will
move
to
the
middle
of
the
rose,
will
and
edelin
will
follow
him,
and
then
your
row
will
recess
out
behind
them
all
guests.
You
are
to
remain
in
your
seats
until
our
fabulous
annapolis,
high
school
graduates
have
exited
the.
