C
Good
evening
and
welcome
to
this
public
workshop
of
the
board
of
education
of
anne
arundel
county,
I
am
board
vice
president
robert
silkworth
tonight.
The
board
will
learn
more
from
superintendent,
george
arlotta
and
other
aacps
staff
members
about
the
brightspace
learning
management
system.
This
workshop
is
open
to
the
public.
However,
no
public
testimony
will
be
taken.
Tonight's
workshop
is
being
broadcast,
live
on
aacps
tv,
which
can
be
found
on
channel
96
on
comcast
and
broad
stripe,
and
channel
36
on
verizon.
C
D
Thank
you,
mr
silkworth.
Members
of
the
board.
As
always,
we
are
delighted
to
spend
some
time
with
you
at
workshops
to
give
you
additional
information.
Ask
questions
about
various
parts
of
our
programming
here
with
anne
arundel
county
public
schools
today
is
particularly
special
as
we
have
as
we
are
emerging
from
covet
as
it
were,
and
we
have
been
through
virtual
instruction
and
hybrid
instruction,
we're
now
back
in
person,
we've
learned
a
tremendous
amount.
We've
learned
a
great
deal
about
our
technological
capabilities.
D
We
have
built
those
technological
capabilities
with
the
idea
of
sustaining
those
into
the
future
they're,
not
things
that
we're
going
to
let
go.
They
are
things
that
are
going
to
make
us
a
better
school
system,
moving
forward
for
all
of
our
students
and
our
staff.
The
acquisition
and
implementation
of
a
learning
management
system.
D
E
Thank
you,
dr
lotto,
mr
silkworth,
dr
lotto
members
of
the
board,
we're
really
glad
to
be
here
tonight.
So
I
am
I'm
here
with
two
amazing
aacps
educators,
truly
miss
kelly
and
mr
burkoski
and
they'll
both
introduce
themselves
and
give
you
their
titles.
E
And
they're
both
very
humble,
but
they
have
led
the
bright
space
launch
and
implementation
so
far,
along
with
one
colleague
that
is
missing
because
he
recently
retired
mr
skiply,
and
I
want
to
give
him
a
shout
out
if
he's
out
there
listening,
because
he
was
the
third
in
the
triad
of
amazing
people
that
really
brought
this
to
life.
So
with
that,
we
want
to
give
you
brightspace.
E
So
to
do
that,
we're
going
to
break
it
the
presentation
into
three
parts,
the
background
which,
as
dr
lotto
said,
is
really
the
acquisition
and
the
readying
and
the
implementation.
The
early
implementation,
followed
by
the
showcase
of
brightspace
use
and
stephanie,
will
give
you
actually
a
lens
in
to
teachers,
classrooms
and
other
supports
that
brightspace
actually
offers,
and
then
we're
going
to
give
you
on
on
the
horizon.
What's
next
for
us,
because
there
is
so
much
to
what
brightspace
can
help
our
teachers
and
educators
do.
Thank
you
and
without
further
ado
here
comes
the
background.
E
E
The
vendors
send
us
as
well
as
play
a
bit,
and
I
use
that
word
intentionally
because
we
build
sandboxes
to
actually
have
the
evaluation
committee
members
engaged
with
the
product
in
a
secure,
safe
environment.
Finally,
after
that
happens,
and
we
get
feedback,
a
selection
committee
actually
makes
the
selection.
There
is
a
selection
date
and
then
the
contract
has
to
be
negotiated
and
there's
eventual
purchase
date,
so
that
went
from
about
may
to
the
middle
of
september.
E
So
you
may
ask
yourself:
how
does
that
work?
Well,
in
this
case,
there
are
rules
for
all
of
the
rfp
processes
and
acquisition
processes,
but
in
this
case
about
80
staff
members
from
across
the
system,
you'll
see
there
and
also
many
of
these
people
were
also
parents
right.
They
held
a
dual
role
and
they
were
the
acquisition.
I
mean
they
were
the
evaluation
committee
and
then
following
the
evaluation.
E
G
After
soon
after
the
contract
was
signed,
we
were
actually
in
the
system
doing
configuration
setting
up
security
loading
data,
and
this
happened
over
several
months.
Obviously,
in
the
beginning,
one
of
the
biggest
things
we
wanted
to
make
sure
of
obviously
is
that
our
system
was
secure
and
that
our
data
in
fact
was
encrypted
and
secured,
and
everything
that
needs
to
be
done
in
accordance
with
our
policies
as
well.
G
We
also
set
up
multi-factor
authentication,
for
some
of
you
probably
have
used
it
in
other
banking
systems
and
systems
that
are
online
ess,
which
is
our
employee
self-service
system
here
actually
uses
it.
So
brightspace
was
actually
the
second
major
system
to
actually
use
multi-factor
authentication.
G
Excellent
in
regards
to
system
security,
obviously
brightspace
is
hosted
within
the
cloud
it's
hosted
by
amazon
web
services.
Brightspace
has
several
hosting
and
security
certifications.
Some
of
them
are
listed
here,
as
mentioned
before.
All
of
our
data
in
brightspace
is
encrypted
at
rest,
as
well
as
encrypted
in
transmission.
G
All
the
data
in
brightspace
is
stored
within
the
united
states.
That
is
part
of
our
policy
as
well,
for
technology
use
and
security,
as
mentioned
before,
multi-factor
authentication
was
set
up
for
all
staff
members
that
use
the
system.
One
big
point
here
is
that
system
roles
and
access
have
been
assigned
based
on
the
actual
need,
that's
defined
and
again
that's
very
consistent
with
what
our
technology
use
and
security
policy
states
in
regards
to
preparation
for
implementation.
G
We
use
one
roster
and
one
roster
is
a
data
sharing
standard
between
student
information
systems
and
other
systems.
So
it's
secure
and
it's
also
very
much
from
an
integrity.
Standpoint
guarantees
data
integrity.
Our
organizational
structure
was
set
up
with
insider
bright
space
again
very
important,
because
it
allows
us
to
assign
very
detailed
roles
to
users.
G
Validations
were
performed
of
data.
We
spent
a
lot
of
time
doing
performance
testing,
as
well
as
stress
testing
of
the
system,
to
make
sure
that,
when
additional
users
were
added
that
the
system
would
function
properly,
the
last
bullet
here
is:
we
spent
a
lot
of
time
in
the
beginning
as
well,
training
our
staff,
because
we
wanted
to
make
sure
when
the
system
started
to
roll
out
through
cohort
1
cohort
2,
we
had
the
appropriate
support
staff
in
place.
E
Thanks
mike
so
now
we
get
to
the
implementation,
so
the
implementation
and
coming
off
what
mike
just
said
in
december
and
you're
moving
into
january.
Well,
now
we're
talking
about
users
and
we
need
to
get
users
involved,
but
you
don't
want
to
get
too
many
users
involved
in
the
early
days,
so
we
were
really
shooting
for
about
50
users,
50
early
adopters
to
put
up
their
hand
and
say
I
want
to
volunteer,
we
needed
them
across
all
the
levels.
E
E
So
the
early
adopters
got
training,
as
did
our
idd
team,
our
instructional
data
division
team.
So
they
they
actually
could
come
up
to
speed.
So
they
were
able
to
actually
even
think
ahead
right
project,
any
struggles
we
would
have.
And
finally,
at
the
same
time,
this
was
all
happening.
We
were
migrating
over
a
thousand
courses
from
blackboard
to
brightspace.
E
Now,
while
that
was
going
on,
you
can
imagine
we're
readying
to
tell
the
principles
and
everyone
else
in
the
system.
That's
going
to
be
an
educator.
What
is
this
bright
space
piece?
So
you
see
in
february
we're
we're
looking
at
giving
the
overview
to
the
administrators
and
then
also
building
the
modules,
the
learning
modules
that
the
the
all
teacher
group
would
engage
in
later
in
the
spring.
E
Remember
that
400,
I
told
you.
We
then
created
a
second
cohort
and
those
second
cohort.
Another
200
of
them
were
able
to
give
us
feedback.
They
tried
out
the
modules
for
us
and
they
gave
us
feedback
so
that
we
could
hone
in
on
making
the
final
tweaks
to
those
modules
such
that
when
april
came
around
and
we
were
launching
professional
development
for
all
teachers,
we
had
the
best
modules
that
we
could
for
that
point
in
time
so
exciting
times.
That's
the
implementation
of
the
user
piece
of
this.
F
So
talking
about
professional
development
in
early
fall,
we
started
with
our
cohort
people
starting
a
champion
training
program.
These
champions
had
were
gathered
for
the
intention
of
supporting
other
teachers
and
that
started
early,
and
currently
we
have
that
champion
program
which
we'll
talk
about
in
a
little
bit
in
place.
Spring
training
for
educators
were
early
dismissal
days
that
was
in
april
may
and
june.
F
So
late
spring
after
the
trainings
to
the
present,
we
had
additional
virtual
workshops
offered.
Right
now
we
have
about
11
running
self-paced
courses
were
developed
for
teachers
and
new
teachers.
We
have
15
of
those
and
teachers
really
like
this,
because
they
can
work
at
their
own
pace
to
go
through
the
courses,
and
we
also
offered
my
team
when
I
met
with
school-based
faculty
and
had
collaborative
planning
sessions,
as
requested
by
the
principals
and
teachers
for
as
per
need.
E
And
this
all
led
to
an
amazing
conference
that
hand
in
hand
we
built
with
d2l,
and
we
thought
we'd
get
three
four
hundred
teachers.
In
fact,
almost
a
thousand
teachers
engaged
in
2021
in
the
summer
two-day
conference
and
if
you
count
all
the
people
who
watched
the
recordings
of
that
conference,
it's
well
closer
to
1500
of
our
employees.
E
What
else
have
we
done?
Well,
the
bright
space
champions
that
stephanie
spoke
of
they
do
the
in-school
support,
there's
over
300
of
them
and
they're
in
school
in
their
own
schools,
supporting
teachers
every
day
now
fall
in
2021.
That
was
this
year
now.
It
seems
like
a
lifetime
ago
that
was
this
year
and
that
this
kickstart
choice
board
activity.
We
started
seeing
teachers
that
were
really
climbing
in
their
understanding
of
bright
space
and
others
that
were
had
their
toes
in
the
water.
E
So
we
put
a
choice
board
together,
so
they
could
get
what
they
needed
as
opposed
to
everybody,
getting
the
same
professional
development
and
that
worked
extremely
well
and
then
finally,
something
that
just
happened.
This
january
we
have
24
7
brightspace
online
support.
Somebody
can
be
working
on
their
lesson
plans
at
one
o'clock
in
the
morning
and
if
they
need
help,
they
can
get
it
online
and
that's
we're
very,
very
pleased
that
that
exists
and
so
far
things.
The
feedback
has
been
good,
even
though
it's
not
been
used
a
lot
quite
yet.
F
Okay,
well
welcome
to
brightspace.
Every
school
has
their
own
landing
page
and
here
you're,
looking
at
severna
park
high
school's
landing
page,
each
one
is:
has
their
mascot
and
colors
displayed
on
every
landing
page.
There's
the
principal's
message
which
each
principal
at
each
school
can
customize
for
what
they
need,
and
here
at
suburban
park,
I'm
going
to
scroll
down
to
the
next
section
on
the
on
the
landing
page.
They
have
some
announcements
and
I
can
go
through
the
week
of
314.
F
There's
different
things
happening
at
the
school
literacy
club,
athletic
announcements,
big
news
about
the
I
think
it's
the
falcon
block.
F
They
also
have
some
apps,
so
students
can
readily
get
to
naviance
and
homework
help
right
on
the
front
page
and
powerschool
to
check
their
grades.
I'm
going
to
scroll
down
just
a
little
bit
more
because
you
see
they
want
a
step
further
and
they
put
some
links
to
information
about
the
falcon
block
and
the
bell
schedule
and
how
to
sign
up
for
different
things.
So
that's
the
verna
park
high
school's
court
land
school
landing
page,
I'm
going
to
scroll
back
up
quickly
and
I'm
going
to
draw
your
attention
to
this
waffle.
F
So
the
waffle
is
where
you
go
to
get
your
courses
and
if
a
student
were
to
log
in
their
courses
will
be
listed
there.
I
I'm
going
to
first
show
you
a
teacher
at
south
river
high
mrs
crankfield,
who
teaches
ap
english
lang.
Now
I
had
to
make
a
copy
of
all
the
classes,
because
I
didn't
want
to
display
student
information,
so
everything
you
see
have
been
copies
today
and
this
is
a
copy
of
her
ap
class
from
semester,
one
as
you
saw
the
course,
the
the
school
landing
page.
F
So
the
first
thing
these
are
all
units,
that's
what
brightspace
calls
them,
but
the
first
tab
that
I'm
gonna
or
unit
that
I'm
gonna
click
on
is
course
resources,
and
this
is
information
that
the
students
would
need
for
their
ap
class.
There's
her
contact
information,
her
fall,
syllabus
and
and
so
forth,
and
these
are
all
links
to
her
google
drive
or
to
a
document.
F
I'm
going
to
close
that
up
and
show
you
the
next
often
lost
resources
is
the
school
resources.
These
are
the
ones
that
are
usually
sent
home
that
first
week
and
then
they
go
from
the
refrigerator
to
the
dining
room
table
to
who
knows
where,
but
anyway
they
they
are
here
right
there
for
the
student
to
access
when
needed.
F
I
want
you
to
draw
your
attention
down
here
to
the
week,
so
we
have
the
week
of
110
the
week
of
1-3
and
she
provides
information,
I'm
going
to
go
ahead
and
open
up
the
week
of
12
20
to
23
right
before
the
holiday
break,
so
mrs
crankfield
has
links
to
some
documents.
These
are
google
drive
documents
and
a
google
assignment.
F
F
She
would
display
this
in
her
classroom,
but
it
also
would
be
there
as
a
reminder
of
what
we
did
in
class
today
to
either
go
over
or
for
someone
that's
absent
how
to
get
ready
for
class
how
to
grab
your
paper.
You
know
to
begin
your
assignment
and
she
always
puts
a
real
nice
comment.
I
don't
know
if
you
can
see
that,
but
it
says
I'm
so
glad
you
are
here
and
then
you
know
she
goes
through
what
they
will
be
doing
that
day,
a
reflection
with
a
timer.
F
E
While
you
jump
back
stephanie,
I
just
want
to
say:
miss
crankfield
is
an
amazing
teacher.
If
you
saw
her
teach
she
would
just
be
in
awe.
What's
also
true
is
she's
an
award-winning
teacher
for
us
she
was
a
finalist,
a
teacher
of
the
year.
Finalist
and
kids
will
tell
you,
I
don't
know
if
you
saw
if
you
really
took
in
what
that
looked
like,
but
she
does
one
of
those
slides
for
every
day
and
she
is
engaging
at
that
level
every
day
and
brightspace.
She
would
tell
you
gives
her
even
more
creative
license.
Yes,.
F
F
She
was
out
and
needed
some
some
information
for
substitutes
and
she
put
the
agenda
for
the
substitute,
because
she,
if
she
knew
the
substitute
she
could
enroll
them
in
the
course,
the
principal
the
dc.
They
all
have
the
ability
to
enroll
a
sub
into
this
course
so
that
they
could
do
that.
That
day's
lessons.
So
she
left
some
information
here
and
some
assignments
for
the
students
in
her
absence.
F
So
this
is
mrs
norris's
class,
and
here
she
has
her
announcements,
also
where
they're
kindergartners,
so
they
might
not
be
able
to
read,
but
there
is
a
an
app
that
every
student
has
called
read,
write
that
will
read
inside
the
bright
space
area.
So
if
they
turn
that
on
it
will
read
for
them
or
again,
you
know
their
parents,
I'm
sure
it
might
sit
arm
and
arm
with
and
can
help
them
read
through
it
or
she'll.
Read
that
for
them,
if
necessary.
F
Now
you
notice
this
eye
with
this
slash
through
it.
That
means
these
things
are
not
available
to
the
student,
so
she
has
built
her
marking
period,
1
and
marking
period
two
and
some
reading
materials,
but
they're
all
hidden
at
this
point.
These
are
here
from
previous
and
she
can
import
them
into
next
year's
class.
F
But
right
now
the
students
just
see
because
remember
they're,
early
readers
marking
period
three,
let's
open
that
up
and
as
you
see,
she
builds
the
latest
on
the
top,
so
that
the
students
know
that
the
earliest
up
here
is
what
we'll
be
working
on
currently
and
she
uses
a
little
feature
called
icons.
So
she
would
tell
them
click
on
the
the
shamrock
for
this
week's
lessons.
F
So,
let's
open
up
this
week's
lessons-
and
she
has
three
assignments
here
for
the
for
the
students
to
work
on
the
first
one-
is
a
google
assignment
which
what
the
google
assignment
provides
for
her
is.
If
she
puts
this
file
in
here
when
the
students
click
on
it,
it
gives
each
student
their
very
own
copy
to
work
on,
so
she
doesn't
have
to
make
a
separate
copy
for
every
single
student,
and
if
the
student
then
opens
it
mrs
crank,
mrs
craig,
mrs
norris
has
access
into
every
one
of
these
copies
they
deposit.
F
She
doesn't
have
to
do
this.
It
automatically.
Does
it
it
deposits
in
her
google
drive
a
copy,
so
she
can
go
from
copy
to
copy
to
see
how
what
the
students
are
doing
here.
The
students
can
practice
their
mouse
skills
by
counting
the
number
of
snowflakes
and
dragging
the
right
number,
the
correct
number
to
the
box.
F
F
E
F
F
So
in
her
first
unit
or
tab,
she
has
who's
new
and
then
she
has
recordings
of
all
her
meetings
that
department
chairs
can
look
back
over.
She
has
her
weekly
memos
posted
here,
all
of
them
for
february
and
march,
and
each
month
are
right
in
this
area.
I'm
going
to
close
that
tab
up
and
she
has.
She
has
built
asynchronous
modules.
F
E
Jump
over
to
a
school,
and
so
not
only
do
our
coordinators
support
teachers,
but
our
principals
and
ap
support
teachers
as
well,
so
miss
harris
colleen
harris
at
davidsonville
elementary
and
she
notes
that
she's,
the
principal
of
the
best
school
in
aacp
and
the
nice
piece
about
it
is
they
can
personalize
their
profile,
which
is
very,
I
don't
know
it's
pretty
core
right.
That's
that's
what
it's
all
about,
but
ms
harris
has
done
some
interesting
things
for
her
faculty.
You
know
normally
a
principal
might
hand
out
a
weekly
information
bulletin.
E
They
might
do
that
they
might
go
over
it
at
a
faculty
meeting.
Well,
she
decided
to
do
it
inside
brightspace
and
so
in
her
content,
you'll
see
that
she
calls
it
and
you'll
see
in
a
sec
here
that
it
is
called
the
gator
game
plans
and
those
are
weekly
pieces
with
a
lot
of
clickable
links.
So
teachers
can
go
right
to
the
resources
which
is
very
nice
and
then
also
she,
instead
of
just
sending
her
teachers
to
the
various
things
that
we
have
available
to
us
for
brightspace
learning.
E
F
E
Is
exciting
so
we're
going
to
tell
you
tonight
and
there'll
be
many
communications
going
out,
but
we,
as
you
might
remember,
we
implemented
a
pilot
with
bright
space
for
parents
and
guardians
back
in
december
and
january
that
went
very
well.
We
learned
a
lot
went
very
well
and
now
we're
going
to
open
it
up
to
all
parents
as
of
march
21st,
which
is
next
monday
right
now,
many
parents
will
need
support,
and
so
we're
not
hurrying
this
all
next
week
and
there
is
a
a
website
that
actually
will
show
here's
the
website.
E
Now
you
may
say
to
yourself:
what's
different
about
it,
because
some
of
you
might
have
been
sitting
next
to
your
learner
right
now,
so
parents,
all
over
the
district
have
been
doing
that
and
they
could
see
in,
but
brightspace
for
parents
also
gives
a
way
to
directly
communicate
with
the
teacher
back
and
forth,
and
the
teacher
can
also
send
you
messages
as
parents,
as
opposed
to
just
messages
on
the
board
for
the
students
and
then
the
family
academy.
So
the
family
academy.
F
Is
for
when
bright
brightspace
for
parents
and
guardian
launches,
they
will
also
have
a
waffle
and
the
office
of
family
partnerships
are
building
some
courses
just
for
parents-
and
this
is
the
opening
page
that's
being
built
for
some
of
the
information
that
our
aacps
parents
may
need,
I'm
going
to
go
down
slowly,
it's
the
well-being
and
growth
and
navigating
aacps
resources.
That's
some
information
about
that.
F
We
have.
What
can
I
do
to
assist
the
kindergarten,
readiness,
reducing
stress
of
college
application
process
and
so
forth?
I'm
going
to
jump
down
to
the
bottom
to
look
to
see
how
they've
also
put
together
various
videos
that
are
available
in
aacps
in
one
section,
so
parents
can
also
click
on
them
here.
There's
going
to
be
some
other
courses
too,
about
tips
and
tricks
and
about
our
different
programs
and
things
of
that
nature
that
will
be
available
for
parents
to
log
in
to
brightspace,
for
parents
and
families
and
see
all
the
information
that
they
need.
E
E
F
F
There
was
increased
use
of
bright
space
inside
and
outside
the
brick
and
mortar
classroom.
Communication
has
been
enhanced
because
inside
brightspace
teachers
and
students
can
have
communication
with
each
other.
There
was
another
added
feature
that
we
found
out
was
the
integration
of
digital
textbooks
and
applications
inside
brightspace,
so
teachers
can
go
and
place
textbook
materials
and
applications
where
the
student
doesn't
have
to
go
outside
of
the
environment
to
get
the
to
those
resources,
and
we
have
those
currently
available
and
we've.
E
Been
listening
to
our
teachers
too,
so
one
of
the
things
our
teacher
said,
especially
the
secondary
level,
is
they
need
the
ability
to
send
one
message
to
a
group
of
students.
Let's
say
they
were
teaching
multiple
sections
of
algebra.
They
wanted
to
send
that
same
message
to
the
other
three
sections
we
can
now
do
that
and
teachers
are
doing
that
on
a
daily
basis.
So
that's
a
really
that's!
That's
wonderful!.
E
Did
and
the
other
piece
we're
seeing
hand
in
hand
is,
as
teachers
get
comfortable,
those
teachers
who
do
clubs
for
us
and
other
special
activities
are
asking
for
bright
spaces
for
those
clubs
and
activities.
That's
also
a
good
sign.
You
know
what's
happening
slowly,
it
is
happening
now
the
real
highlight
here.
It
was
very
unfortunate,
but
out
of
some
bad
sometimes
comes
good.
E
Some
of
our
schools,
as
you
know,
had
to
go
to
full
virtual
in
january
february
and
when
they
went
to
full
virtual
stephanie
and
her
team
were
able
to
see
which
teachers
needed
some
extra
help
to
get
brightspace
ready
within
24
hours
of
learning
that
and
supporting
the
teachers.
They
were
bright
space
ready.
E
So
what
we
have
learned
from
that
is
yes,
change
is
hard,
but
we
can
help
and
we
can,
actually,
I
will
say,
boutique
help
very
one-on-one
and
and
the
principles
were
involved
so
good
successes
there
really
to
be
very
proud
of
the
next
piece.
All
these
teachers
involved
in
professional
development,
they're
engaged
in
professional
development.
Our
unified
talent
space
is
where
you
learn
about
pd.
It's
also
where
all
your
units
are
kept.
Your
credits,
so
bright
space
and
unified
talent
have
to
talk
to
one
another.
E
They
promised
they
would
and
in
fact
they
do,
and
so
that's
another
piece,
that's
really
excellent
and
then
finally,
the
parent
and
guardian
accounts
live
for
all
on
march
21st.
So
we're
excited
now
with
that.
Of
course,
there
are
challenges.
Of
course,
there
are
and
I'll
point
you
to
the
box
up
in
the
upper
right
hand
corner,
and
it
really
has
been
what
we've
talked
to
ourselves
about
along
the
way.
E
F
So
one
of
the
challenges
that
we
experienced
was
the
the
move
from
google
classroom
to
bright
space,
but,
as
you
saw,
a
teacher
could
still
use
their
google
assignments
as
they're
used
to
they
can
use
their
google
drive,
they
can
edit
live
in
google
drive
and
it
will
show
up
in
brightspace
seamlessly
so
we're
trying
to
put
out
as
much
professional
development
and
help
to
to
maintain
that
migration
maintaining
implementation
momentum
during
challenging
times.
That
was
hard.
F
You
know
at
the
beginning
of
school
there
was
so
many
other
things
to
worry
about
and
not
bright
space.
It
was
you
know.
Some
children
had
never
been
in
a
classroom
before
some
of
them
weren't
used
to
the
rules
and
regulations,
and
they
were
dealing
with
some
other
problems.
So
it
was
hard
at
the
very
beginning
and
we're
starting
to
see
some
movement
now
and
some
ease
of
use
and
then
listening
to
our
users
and
providing
the
appropriate
targeted
support.
F
There
are
some
changes
that
we've
made
copying:
the
assignments
rewind
and
some
role
changes
that
we've
made
as
we
listen,
and
we
have
people
now
who
feel
very
comfortable
and
teachers
who
visit
us
in
office,
hours
or
email.
Us
and
say
have
you
thought
about
this
and
we
work
with
them
and
they
help
us
test
them
and
they
all
feel
like
they're
part
of
the
bright
space,
families
and.
E
They
really
are,
I
mean
we
informally
and
formally
our
teachers
are
wonderful
in
rolling
this
up.
So
what's
on
the
horizon,
and
what
are
we
excited
about?
Well,
we're
super
excited
to
continue
all
the
professional
development
in
all
the
various
ways,
from
learning
on
demand
to
summer
offerings
to
pd
sessions,
that
principals
will
offer
to
meet
the
needs
of
their
staff
and
then,
of
course,
brightspace
for
parents
and
guardians
is
exciting
for
us.
E
F
You
can
put
modules
and
different
things
in
there,
so
that
is
starting
to
grow
and
we'll
look
to
put
more
professional
development
towards
that
in
the
fall
capture.
Implementation
is
a
way
for
an
instructor
to
record
their
lessons
and
it
produces
closed
captioning.
In
a
video
inside
of
brightspace
we're
going
to
learn
more
about
that
this
week
my
team
will
be
getting
training
and
look
forward
to
teaching
the
teachers
how
to
do
that.
Also.
E
So
with
that,
we
want
to
thank
you,
and
we
want
to
thank
all
sir,
whether
us
you
know
lifters,
it
has
been
amazing
and
it
continues
to
be
amazing
and
it
will
be
a
a
ripe,
wonderful,
rich
future,
and
with
that
we
love
to
take
questions.
C
H
So
I
actually
don't
have
any
questions,
because
I'm
like
the
only
person
here
who
actually
uses
brightness
on
a
day-to-day
basis,
so
a
lot
of
what
you
talked
about,
at
least
for
the
high
school
level.
I
already
knew
I
just
wanted
to
state
we're
about
halfway
through
the
third
quarter,
we're
in
the
second
semester-
and
I
too
was
one
of
those
people
who
was
apprehensive
about
changing
to
bright
space,
just
because
I
I'd
use
google
classroom
for
so
long,
but
when
teachers
know
how
to
use
brightspace,
it
works.
H
I
take
a
linear
algebra,
which
is
completely
online,
and
I
mean
we
have
checklists
for
our
assignments.
We
have
our
videos,
our
notes,
our
everything,
it's
honestly,
my
easiest
class
to
take,
and
it's
still
in
your
algebra
because
of
how
organized
it
is
on
brightspace.
So
it's
you
know:
it's
not
really
us
versus
the
system.
It's
really
just
a
matter
of
learning
how
to
use
it,
because
when
you
do
it's
a
lot
better
than
google
classroom,
I
know
that's
like
a
hot
take,
but
it
truly
is,
if
it's
being
used
in
the
correct
way.
H
So,
thank
you
for
all
of
your
work.
Thank
you
for
this
presentation
and
I'm
hoping
that
many
of
the
underclassmen
and
those
who
will
be
continuing
to
be
in
acps
for
the
next
years
will
feel
the
way
I
do
because
I
enjoy
using
brightspace
now,
and
I
can't
say
that
I
did
at
the
beginning
of
school
year.
Thank
you.
Thank.
C
I
But
thank
you
very
much
for
the
presentation
it
is.
It
was
very
helpful.
Okay,
where
do
I
start
so
in
a
nutshell.
First
I'll
start
big.
I
E
So
google
classroom
is
a
great
product
and
the
google
suite
of
project
products,
many
of
which
we
still
use,
are
robust.
The
google
classroom
has
its
limitations
and
its
limitations
happen
in
multiple
ways
that
the
ease
at
which
it's
kind
of
like
a
bike
with
no
gears,
the
ease
at
which
you
get
on
and
you
learn
how
to
ride
and
pedal,
is
often
simple.
E
But
then
you
have
a
hill
you're
coming
up
to
and
you're
you're
trying
out
to
to
be
a
racer.
Well,
that's
not
the
bike.
You
need
so
the
complexity
of
opportunities,
the
organizational
structures
I
miss
sorry
talked
about
the
organizational
structures
of
here's,
the
videos
and
here's.
Here's
the
agenda.
Here's
the
videos,
here's
discussion
board,
here's
the
ability
for
my
teacher
to
actually
myself
as
a
learner
to
actually
go
in
and
keep
track
of
what
I'm
doing,
but
also
the
teacher
to
do
the
same.
E
The
ability
to
give
back
feedback
student
to
student
and
teacher
to
student,
all
that
complexity
and
more
doesn't
exist
within
google
classroom,
and
so
we
knew
we
were
looking
for
a
product
that
could
organize
our
curriculum
right,
because
it's
a
curriculum.
Organizational
issue
that
would
allow
our
teachers
to
be
creative
with
their
teaching,
but
also
organizationally,
set
up
their
classrooms
and
do
so
in
a
very
I'll,
even
call
it
a
boutique
way.
E
The
way
I
set
up
my
classroom,
although
there's
an
underlying
structure,
it'll,
look
nothing
like
stephanie's,
that's
a
good
thing,
because
teachers
think
differently
from
one
another.
Yet
at
the
same
time,
we
can
professionally
develop
those
teachers
and
show
them
the
infrastructure
stuff.
I
don't
know
if
you
want
to
add
well.
F
Also,
it
provides
alignment
to
standards,
so
we
haven't
got
there
yet,
but
we
will.
We
have
the
standards
loaded,
but
we
wanted.
We
wanted
to
go
slow
to
go
fast,
so
we
want
to
eventually,
in
the
fall
start
talking
to
teachers,
about
how
you
can
align
your
lessons
to
standards
and
then
look
into
the
course
and
see
where,
where
the
deficits
are,
where
what
students
you
need
to
work
on.
So
it's
a
great
tool
for
that.
F
There's,
there's
so
many
possibilities
within
the
the
bright
space
that
pro
that
will
provide
information
and
access
and
just
things
for
for
teachers
to
help
students
we
can.
F
We
can
see
into
actually
the
time
really
a
teacher
can
see
the
time
spent
by
each
student
in
the
classroom,
what
they
did
and-
and
it's
like
a
hub
and
then
as
we're
starting
to
grow,
we're
starting
to
see
like
many
many
teachers
requesting
additional
classrooms
for
clubs
and
organizations
and
the
class
of
2023,
and
it's
just
becoming
a
community
of
of
communication
to
the
you
know
that
we
couldn't
do
before
there's
global
communications,
and
in
may
there's
going
to
be
some
communications
during
social,
emotional
awareness
week,
where
we're
going
to
put
out
global
across
all
schools.
F
E
And
the
teachers
have
said
from
years
and
years
we
like
when
we
learn
from
each
other
as
well
as
when
we
get
pd
from
from
central
office.
The
lore
that
you
saw
provides
the
underlying
structure
for
people
to
be
in
communities.
So
as
a
learner
as
miss
homosori,
we
can
put
mr
missouri
into
communities.
We
can
also
ask
her
to
join
communities.
Well,
that's
what
will
happen
with
the
professional
organizations.
E
I
could
put
myself
in
a
fifth
grade,
math
group,
because
I
teach
fifth
grade
math.
I
could
also
put
myself
in
a
club-
maybe
I
teach
maybe
I'm
a
club
sponsor
for
sea
perch,
and
I
could
put
myself
in
these
different
groups,
but
also
my
principal
can
put
me
in
different
groups
inside
my
area
and
the
people
upstairs
can
create
areas.
Maybe
they
want
me
in
the
fifth
grade
reading
group
and
they
can
put
me
in
communities.
G
I
E
As
the
students
get
older
and
they
do
have
their
own
email
that
they're
used
to-
we
understand
that
sometimes
we
are
negotiating
with
even
the
college
board
around
that
right.
But
what
we
know
to
be
true
is
starting
way
back
in
elementary
school
if
they
start
to
understand
that
messaging
and
email
can
happen
inside
brightspace
they'll
get
used
to
that
too.
We
just
know
it's
going
to
take
some
time
for
the
older
students.
I
So
the
laura-
I
made
a
note
about
that.
So
that
was
a
request
from
one
of
our
from
the
work
group.
B
E
I
And
then,
as
far
as
so
we're
still
using
teachers
and
students
are
still
using,
we
have
powerschool
that
we're
using
and
the
google
products,
that's
still
how
students
are
doing
their
work
and
that's
the
part
where,
as
parents
as
students
and
as
teachers,
we
each,
I
think,
have
some
difficulty
with
that's.
Where
they're,
I
feel,
there's
an
interference
in
communication,
so
I
can
tell
you,
as
a
parent
talking
with
my
students,
checking
powerschool.
What's
going
on
with
this.
I
Well,
I
already
turned
that
in
or
what
you
know
like
there's
just
too
many
things.
So
I
guess,
can
you
talk
about
the
interaction
between
google
and
brightspace
and
powerschool
and
brightspace?
First
of
all
does
bright
space?
Do
the
reporting
are
we
gonna
need
powerschool
or
yes,
so
brycebase
can't
take
that
over.
E
Well
it
it's.
So
let
me
ask:
let
me
answer
one
one
at
a
time,
so
the
wonderful
part
of
brightspace
overall
is
you.
Have
this
whole
learning
community?
There
is
a
gradebook
with
brightspace,
but
like
any
rollout,
this
is
a
three
to
five
year:
full
implementation,
rollout
or
really
early
in
the
game.
So
mike
would
tell
you
that
sometime
during
next
year,
the
brightspace
grade
book
and
the
powerschool
gradebook
book
will
formally
talk
to
each
other.
E
Okay,
but
we
elected,
I
think
very
smartly
and
mr
barlow,
who
was
the
former
cio
very
smartly,
said,
seen
a
lot
of
these
rollouts.
Don't
go
too
fast
too
fast.
I
mean,
don't
go
too
far
too
fast,
so
we
literally
stepped
it
off
and
said
the
brightspace
gradebook
is
usable
right
now
for
those
teachers
who
want
to
use
it
it's
usable,
but
if
you
don't
want
to
use
it,
you
don't
have
to
now.
What
is
true
is
for
the
folks
using
it.
They
know
that
power
school
gradebook
is
where
you
put
your
grades.
E
They
know
that,
eventually
down
the
line,
you'll
be
able
to
put
your
grades
in
bread,
space
and
they're
going
to
end
up
in
powerschool
gradebook.
We
will
not
lose
powerschool
gradebook.
We
will
not
use
powerteacher,
we
will
not.
That
is
our
student
information
system
and
that's
the
robust
place
these
talk
to
each
other.
Now
that
piece
you
can
imagine
for
great
integrity.
E
That
is
a
big
deal
and
security
and
mike
and
his
team
jason
dykstra
and
his
instructional
data
division,
team,
stephanie
and
her
team
are
all
working
on
that.
It's
going
quite
well,
but
it's
a
process
that
needs
to
continue
now
we're
proud
of
that.
Now,
let's
go
back
to
google
docs
google
sites,
google
classroom,
so
the
great
news
is
all
the
google
material.
All
the
google
applications
work
inside
brightspace
and
they
work
very
seamlessly
and
now
stephanie.
Our
team
have
put
up
widgets
as
well
as
directions
for
teachers
that
are
trying
to
make
that
happen.
E
F
About
how
they
work,
how
they
integrate
into
brightspace,
so
they
still
have
all
their
google
products,
the
google
sites,
the
google
docs,
slides
and
sheets,
and
they,
as
you
saw
in
mrs
crankfield's
cost
she
uses
them
on
a
daily
basis
to
link
into
her
classroom.
It's
just.
The
google
classroom
was
not
being
used
because
it
wasn't
as
robust
as
what
we
needed
for
for
students
and
teachers.
B
I
I'm
wondering
if
there's
it's
possible,
to
improve
the
system
to
have
notifications
for
teachers
when
a
student
turns
something
in
because
when
you
have
a
high
school
teacher
who
has
maybe
nearly
200
students,
they
can't
go
in
every
day
and
check
every
so
there.
E
Is
a
sign
now?
Yes,
you
can
actually
set
a
due
date.
The
teacher
sets
the
due
date
right
and
then,
after
the
due
date,
it's
late
and
then,
if
I
were
to
come
up
to
you
and
say
oh
miss
ellis,
but
remember
I
was
sick.
You
as
the
teacher
could
say.
Oh
that's
right
maureen
you
can
have
an
extra
day,
but
the
due
date
can
be
there
so
automatically.
I
F
F
Heard
that
early
on,
but
I
think
they've
improved,
that
it
was
one
of
the
things
that
improved
in
the
last
few
months.
J
G
I
I
G
I
E
Academy
page
no
any
sort
of
work
page,
oh
so
the
tricky
piece
about
this
is
the
family.
I
mean
the
the
website
is
a
public
facing
document,
and
so
we
can
have
so
much
more.
That's
very
public
oriented
right.
This
will
predominantly
serve
the
students
and
occasionally
they'll
put
pieces
up
for
the
parents,
because
the
parents
will
be
able
to
see
that
page
too.
So.
E
J
Thank
you,
mr
silkworth,
and
thank
you
guys,
awesome,
awesome
job
and
doing
this
in
one
year.
J
I
used
to
be
in
I.t
many
years
ago
and
I
just
got
to
tell
you
it
no
matter
what
has
changed
technologically
onboarding
an
enterprise
level
system
is
no
small
task,
so
kudos.
I
wanted
to
focus
a
little
bit
just
on
as
we're
getting
ready
to
launch
for
parents.
J
You
know
to
be
well
prepared
for
some
of
that
and
as
a
parent
myself,
and
so
I
was
hearing
about
emails
and
how
were
communicated
to
his
parents
and
how
we
will
be
communicated
to
in
the
bright
space
environment,
and
so
I
guess
in
the
google
classroom,
as
a
google
user
with
the
gmail
account
on
a
personal
level,
I
would
get
a
little
ping.
J
It
said
you
know,
I've
got
a
message,
and
so
my
system
was
allowing
me
to
to
talk
interactively
and
so
now
a
teacher
this
year,
which
thankfully
I've
only
had
to
have
a
couple
reach
outs
from
time
to
time.
That's
that
old-fashioned,
you're,
getting
an
email
and
it's
showing
up
on
my
phone,
and
I
know
it's
coming.
So
I
guess
my
question
is:
is
the
parent
have
the
ability
then
to
if
they're,
if
we're
going
to
start
using
it
for
messaging
for
parents?
J
When
is
that
particular
aspect
of
it
going
to
go
on,
you
know,
live
and
then
can
we
do
it
from
our
phone,
because
most
people
are
not.
If
I
have
to
wait
till
I
get
home
and
then
remember
to
log
into
something
the
likelihood
of
my
attentiveness,
especially
in
the
secondary
education
years,
becomes
even
more
so
because.
E
And
that's
a
really
big
deal
right
because
then
at
least
it's
one
stop
shop
that
way
right
and
that
took
up.
You
know
a
lot
to
make
that
work,
but
the
fact
that
it
works
the
the
people
that
were
in
the
pilot
really
appreciated
that
you
can
imagine
so
that
sets
them
up
for
that
now.
Stephanie.
So.
F
There
are
two
apps
for
brightspace:
one
is
for
the
student
that
they'll
be
able
to
go
in
and
communicate
and
check
their
lessons
right
inside
that
app
sort
of
like
the
google
classroom
app,
but
there's
also
a
bright
space
for
parent
and
family
app,
which
will
give
you,
the
notifications
and
all
the
information
you
need.
Just
by
checking
your
app
so
there's
two
ways
to
get
the
brightspace
for
parents.
You
can
go
to
your
computer
and
log
in
to
the
to
the
link
provided
or
you
can
just
get
access
it
on
your
phone.
F
J
If
does
the
teacher
have
to
do
something
special
to
make
sure
that
the
parents
notified
that
there's
a
message
pending
when
we
get
to
that
part,
which
I
would
presume
that
was
in
that
future
forecast.
F
J
Trained
also,
okay,
my
second
question
is
so,
as
we
start
to
use
the
system
or
are
we
going
do
we
anticipate
using
it
for
professional
development
at
the
teacher
level
and
stuff
like
that,
so.
E
E
Now
many
of
them
are
optional,
but
what
we
can
do
a
principle-
and
this
is
pretty
exciting-
a
principal
during
evaluation
time
can
have
a
conversation
with
a
teacher
and
they
can
agree
together
that,
oh,
they
really
want
to
work
a
little
bit
more
on
questioning
in
the
classroom
and
then
we
would
have
a
questioning
module
for
maybe
the
secondary
school
student
and
that
principle
could
actually
push
to
unified
talent.
The
recommendation
for
that
module
for
that
teacher.
E
E
That's
how
tight
it
can
be
now.
It
can
also
be
very
loose
a
teacher
and
a
department
chair.
They
agree
that
they're
going
to
altogether
all
the
science
department
members
are
going
to
take
a
module
together
and
that's
what
they're
going
to
do
and,
in
fact
informally
they'll
do
that
together
and
work
on
it
together
and
that
works
as
well
can
be
an
informal
communication.
Yeah.
F
And
the
asynchronous
classes,
or
the
synchronous
classes
that
are
set
up
in
brightspace
are
also
advertising
unified
talent.
So
a
teacher
can
go
and
look
for
those
classes
and
once
they
enroll
in
that
class,
it
automatically
puts
them
in
the
brightspace
class,
seamlessly
that
and
then,
when
the
teacher
logs
into
brightspace,
there's
the
class
and
once
completed,
they
will
get
the
credit
and
unified
talent.
B
J
That's
where
the
larger
brokers
are
going
with
us
is
that
integration?
No
it's
not
bright
space,
obviously,
but
so
that
that's
going
to
be
really
cool
and
then
because
of
all
that,
new
of
all
the
new
kerwin
requirements,
that'll
be
an
easier
management
tool.
I
would
presume
for
you
guys
and
for
the
staff
it.
E
J
Great-
and
I
just
have
one
comment-
no
more
questions
at
this
time,
but
so
gamification
I'll
just
remind
parents,
I
I
was
a
chaperone.
Actually,
we
were
at
northum
grumman
for
one
of
the
stem
things
back
when
my
daughter
was
in
stem
a
few
years
back-
and
I
remember
the
guy
was
giving
that
mentor
talk
to
the
kids
and
what
he
was
talking
about.
J
He
says
how
many
people
are
gaming,
well,
you're
in
a
stem
environment,
it's
like
three
quarters
and
stuff,
and
he
was
talking
about
the
skill
sets
that
are
even
now
included
in
some
of
the
interviews
posts
collegiately
when
they're
assessing,
because
there
are
certain
skills
that
are
uniquely
developed
in
there.
So
I
would
just
say:
don't
totally
discount
it,
because
there
there's
definitely
some
benefits
and
I
think
everybody
got
a
lot
easier
with
that
and
more
comfortable
after
spending
a
year
in
virtual
learning,.
E
J
K
Thank
you.
Thank
you
for
your
presentation.
I
really
appreciate
it
one
quick
question
about
bright
space
for
parents,
so
I've
never
logged
on.
I
assume
that
in
the
communications
that
will
be
coming
this
week,
there'll
be
information
on
how
to
do
that.
I
looked
at
my
daughters
once
and
opened
it
didn't
know
what
I
was
looking
at.
It
didn't
know
what
I
was
looking
at
and
closed
it
again,
and
that
was
about
all
my
interaction.
I've
had
with
bridesmaids
so
far
she's
pretty
self-sufficient
at
this
age.
K
So
so
all
that's
forthcoming,
including
how
to
get
the
app
and
all
the
rest
of
it.
Okay,
great.
I
really
want
to
focus
on
teacher
workload,
which
has
been
predominantly
this.
The
the
feedback
I've
received
since
we've
gone,
live
with
this
and
and
the
struggles
that
teachers
have
had
setting
up
classrooms,
putting
up
assignments
with
greater
difficulty
than
what
I've
heard
of
that
they
were
experiencing
in
google
classroom.
K
So
you
know
it
apparently
that
the
copy
and
paste
thing
wasn't
as
wasn't
as
easy.
If
I
have
four
sections
of
french,
for
example,
you
know-
and
I
create
a
google
doc
for
one.
It
was
like
a
40
minute
process
to
then
put
it
up
on
all
the
the
different
places
it
needed
to
be.
Has
that
been
streamlined
at
all?
Can
you
speak
to
any
of
that
right.
E
100,
so
that's
the
great
news,
so
in
the
early
days
I
won't
tell
you
that
it
wasn't
harder
than
google
classroom,
because
it
is
got
a
steeper
learning
curve
than
google
classroom.
But
when
people
got
started,
if
they
stuck
with
it
most
teachers
would
tell
you
yeah.
It
went
up
at
a
little
higher
angle
and
then
it
plateaued
pretty
early
on,
but
many
of
our
teachers
didn't
get
to
that
plateau
early
because
they
were
really
building
relationships
with
kids
in
classrooms
and
doing
other
things.
E
So,
but
there
were
some
issues
that
were
bigger
and
one
of
them
was
exactly
what
you
just
talked
about.
This
notion
that
multiple
sections
of
one
course
couldn't
easily
be
copied
at
some
level
right.
So
we
brought
that
to
brightspace.
We
had
a
team
of
ours
and
a
team
of
the
d2l
folks
working
together
and
in
fact
it's
fixed.
So
now
they
can
do
the
multiple
sends
to
the
multiple
sections
of
information.
E
So
that's
great
news.
We
also
have
something
called
brightspace
tips.
Tuesday
tips
right
for
tuesday
and
the
bottom
line
is-
is
that
those
are
the
kind
of
tips
any
upgrades.
We
do
that
they've
asked
for
they
go
on
our
tuesday
tip
sheets
and
those
tuesday
tip
sheets
go
out
every
tuesday
and
the
list
just
grows
longer.
So
if
you
missed
any,
you
can
go
back
and
see
them.
There's
only
three
tips:
one's
really.
B
E
Further
and
then
finally,
a
tip
that
has
to
do
with
something
you
do
interactively
with
students
and
the
good
news
is
the
things
that
you're
talking
about.
Mrs
schonheim
have
appeared
on
tuesday
tips
because
they
were
the
hot
button
items
for
us,
but
just
in
general
teachers
who
are
I'll
call
them
users.
Now
they
would
never
go
back
not
now.
Now
that
they've
become
real
users
because
of
the
robust
nature
of
things.
A
E
K
Day
so
the
time
that
the
teachers
are
are
using
to
prepare
things
for
their
bright
space,
to
add
documents
and
videos
and
files
and
embed
things
and
and
all
the
rest
of
it
isn't
taking
as
long
as
it
once
did,
because
I
mean
I
had
teachers
on
the
phone
with
me
in
tears.
Yeah.
E
K
E
K
Good
good,
that's
good,
to
know
one
more
question
about
about
submitting
assignments
and
whatnot,
so
I
hear
from
my
fifth
grader,
so
I
just
see
the
world
through
her
eyes
at
this
point
and
when
you
submit,
unlike
last
year,
where
you
could
submit
to
your
google
classroom
and
then,
if
you
realize
20
minutes
later,
oh
my
gosh,
I
have
another
thought
I
want
to
add
to
that.
You
can
unsubmit
it
and
then
add
it.
K
She's
telling
me
that
you
can't
unsubmit
when
you
when
you,
when
you
submit
documents
in
brightspace
is
that
is
that
fully
accurate?
Because
I
worry
about.
I
worry
about
the
you
know.
If
it's
if
it's
before
the
deadline
and
a
child
is
is
doing,
you
know,
thinks
they've
completed,
it's
hit
submit
and
then
later
goes.
Oh
darn.
I
wish
I
had
yeah.
K
So
I
just
is
there
a
functionality
within
brightspace
to
do
what
google
classroom
wants
to
so.
F
Is
the
teacher
using
the
google
assignment
feature
or
using
the
brightspace
assignment
feature?
Do
you
know
because
it's
true
in
brightspace
assignments,
once
you
submit,
you
can
resubmit
a
new
copy,
that's
in
brightspace
assignment,
so
you
can
resubmit
and
resubmit,
but
the
original
stay
so
all
the
subsequent
copies
in
brightspace
assignments.
F
F
We
find
that
the
high
school
teachers
prefer
the
bright
space
assignment
one
and
but
the
elementary
teachers
provide
like
the
google
classroom,
because
as
when
you
saw
that
document
where
it
gives
each
student
a
copy,
the
teacher
can
go
in
during
the
day
or
you
know
the
next
day
and
say:
go
in
and
fix
slide
five.
You
have
an
error
there.
You
know
and
just
work
with
the
student
to
work
it
through
where
a
high
school
teacher
wants
them
to
submit
it.
You
know
here
give
me
your
speech
submit
it.
K
And
lastly,
in
terms
of
our
support
that
we
receive
from
brightspace,
I
assume
it's
like
anything
else,
that
you
know
bugs
and
new
versions
and
fixes
and
patches
and
things
happen
continually.
Yes,
has
that.
K
Are
there
are
there
extra
costs
associated
with
both
those
types
of
items
when
they
come
up
and
for
the
increased
functionality
that
you
spoke
to
earlier
tonight?
K
E
So
it's
a
great
question,
mr
sean.
First
of
all,
I
would
say
to
you
from
an
academic
point
of
view.
Using
you
know,
a
company,
a
vendor
that
we're
rolling
out
a
large
enterprise
solution
here
right,
I've
never
worked
with
a
company
more
easily,
they
are
organized,
they
have
people
assigned
to
each
of
our
teams.
E
They
have
a
person
assigned
that
I
can
talk
to
directly
technology
instructional
technology.
In
that
sense,
it's
been
just
amazing
and
most
of
what
we
purchased
for
year.
One
has
been
fully
covered
right,
even
though
even
some
of
the
things
of
saying,
oh,
you
know
this,
this
sectioning
piece
that
we
talked
about
where
you
can
send
that
was
not
as
high
on
the
list.
It
became
high
on
the
list
when
the
teachers
brought
us
brought
it
to
us
and
we
moved
it
right
and
they
handled
it
right.
F
Yes,
I'm
I
mean
every
time
I
speak
with
them.
They
say
that
we're
highly
regarded
and
that
aacps
has
done
a
stellar
job,
and
and
so
they
listed
very
carefully
when
we,
when
we
speak,
so
they
built
that
customization
for
us
we're
working.
Also.
F
I
didn't
talk
about
this
in
in
depth,
but
there
is
a
discover
tool
and
there
are
some
features
that
we
ask
be
added
with
that,
and
first
one
person
told
us
it
was
a
added
cost,
but
as
we
worked
with
the
developers,
they
gave
it
to
us
for
free,
because
we
were
the
first
system
to
think
about
this
added
attribute
in
discover.
So
they've
been
really
good
about
working
with
us
and
trying
to
get
what
we
need.
F
They
listen,
you
know,
and
and
no
the
24
7
support,
yeah
24
7
support
is
good.
They
they
they
have
answers
for
the
the
students
and
the
parents
and
the
teachers,
whoever
whoever
come
in.
They
will
answer
the
questions
about
this
bright
space
environment
and
then
I
get
a
report
of
what
was
said.
F
G
Point
of
view
sure,
amazon
web
services
every
once
in
a
while.
We
have
internet
issues,
it
is
but
getting
back
to
one
of
your
points
that
you
have
made,
I
just
want
to
clarify.
It.
Is
a
software
subscription
service
that
we
pay,
which
means
that
they
all
they
do
all
the
maintenance
on
the
system,
so
we
don't
really
have
to
do
anything
on
our
end.
B
K
I
guess
I
do
have
one
more
question:
the
24
7
support.
So
if
I'm
a
teacher
and
I'm
burning
the
midnight
oil
grading
papers
like
I
do
is
who
who
is
at
the
other
end
of
that
the
24
7
supporters?
That's
not
one
of
our
staff.
Surely
that's
bright
space!
So
that's
general
question
stuff.
How
do
I
xyz
at
oh
dark
30,
put
up.
E
F
F
So
if
they
don't
have
it
then
they'll
contact
us
immediately,
hopefully
the
next
day,
but
they
have
all
our
information
so
that
they
can
help
24
7.
C
You,
mr
shahar,
dr
mcmahon,
I
want
to
thank
you
and
all
of
you
for
the
presentation.
I
have
a
few
comments,
maybe
a
question
or
two:
I
quote
my
friend
over
here
boomi
when
she
says
when
teachers
know
how
it
works
been
there
done
that,
when
teachers
do
not
know
how
instruction
suffers
so
we
did
have
some
issues
with
teacher
workload
and
teachers,
not
knowing
how
I
I
I
taught
virtually
for
a
semester.
C
C
The
communication
piece
that
you
talked
about
with
I
understand
so
they
can
communicate
with
parents.
You
can
that's
a
biggie
just
some
other
comments.
Sharing
across
the
district
will
become
a
critical
issue
when
it
comes
to
the
workload
issue,
because
maybe
my
colleague
in
french
one
at
old
mill,
developed
a
great
lesson
that
I
can
use,
and
so
that's
important
continued
professional
development
which
will
lead
to
growth.
C
Additional
growth
is
critical.
What
you've
already
done-
and
I
know
will
continue-
is
listen
to
users
and
provide
support.
I
have
a
document
here.
I
will
send
it
to
you
by
email.
The
first
thing
on
the
document
is,
I
need
one
button
that
allows
me
to
copy
assignments
and
that's
already
been
addressed.
I'd
like
our
listeners
and
our
teachers
out
there
to
know
that.
That's
one
reason
we're
here,
because
we
want
to
listen
to
their
concerns
and
bring
them
to
you
so
that
we
can
come
up
with
those
kinds
of
solutions.
C
C
Correct
I
like
to
24
7
support.
C
But
I'm
very
happy
about
your
presentation
and,
as
I
said,
I
will
be
sending
an
email
to
you
that
will
include
some
other
suggestions
as
to
some
needs
for
teachers
and
if
we
could
take
a
look
at
those
and
hopefully
come
up
with
a
solution
similar
to
the
one
about
the
the
one
button.
So,
ladies
and
gentlemen,
do
we
have
any
other
questions.
K
Have
we
have
we
asked
teachers
recently
sort
of
on
a
global
scale,
what
they
think
about
brightspace
with
the
added
functionality
now
versus
at
the
beginning
of
the
year?
We
seeking
continual
feedback
in
that
way,
like
that
survey,.
E
So
we
have
many
groups
that
we
talk
with,
but
we
haven't
done
a
formal
survey
of
the
teachers
and
we
are
talking
about
I'll
use.
The
term
survey
loosely.
We
are
talking
about
getting
more
information
from
teachers
on
a
lot
of
things
now
that
we're
nearing
the
end
of
this
very
trying
year
right,
and
so
that
is
yet
one
more
thing
that
we
can
ask
them
about.
E
But
when
we
meet
with
teacher
groups
and
we
do
meet
with
a
lot
of
them,
whether
it's
the
superintendent,
the
teachers
advisory
or
whether
it's
our
coordinators
meeting
with
their
dc's
they're,
constantly
querying
to
kind
of
where
we
are
but
you're
talking
about
specific
things.
Yes,
we
have
not
done
that.
K
Maybe
something
just
to
consider
or
think
about
in
terms
of
you
know
where
we've,
where
we're
ending
up
at
the
end
of
this
trying
year,
although
western
last
year.
E
A
E
D
D
Dr
mcmahon
alluded
to
it:
there's
a
standing
group
of
both
elementary
teachers
and
secondary
teachers
that
meet
with
assistant,
superintendent,
talar
and
others
at
the
table
in
front
of
you
on
a
monthly
basis,
asi
tac,
it's
called,
and
so
they
bring
instructional
issues
pre-coded
this
has
existed,
we
could
talk
about
instructional
issues
and
implementation,
and
access
and
brightspace
has
been
certainly
one
of
the
leading
agenda
items
since
its
rollout
and
and
our
implementation
this
year.
D
So
it's
an
ongoing
structure
that
exists
where
teachers
can
continue
to
bring
issues
forward
and
suggestions
are
for
improvement.
C
D
Thank
you.
So
I
appreciate
the
board
taking
some
time
to
to
listen
and
learn
about
brightspace
to
the
team
in
front
of
you.
It
has
been
many
many
many
hours.
The
three
people
in
front
of
you
in
particular,
I
don't
think,
have
slept
in
at
least
two
years
truly
it
is.
D
It
is
an
ongoing
if
you
can
even
imagine
the
technology
security
that
is
needed
this
day
and
age,
and
then
you
compound
that
by
handing
out
85
000
instruments
that
people
can
take
away
from
our
servers
and
away
from
our
buildings
and
under
mr
borkowski's
leadership
as
our
as
our
chief
security
officer
and
now
our
our
acting
chief
information
officer
has
done
a
phenomenal
job
and,
as
you
can
think
about
the
rollout
of
going
from
immediately
overnight
to
virtual
instruction
to
hybrid
instruction
and
the
three
people
in
front
of
stephanie,
you
and
your
team
have
been
nothing
short
of
amazing,
truly
mrs
talar
and
her
team,
dr
mcmahon
and
mrs
batten
and
their
teams.
D
It's
been
quite
the
challenge
and-
and
we
realize-
and
we
know
it's
also
been
a
challenge
for
the
users
on
the
user
end.
The
students
are
now
our
families,
excuse
me
and
our
teachers,
but
it
became
a
necessity.
We
knew
that
google
was
a
band-aid
early
on.
We
knew
that
it
wasn't
anything
that
was
going
to
last.
The
google
classroom,
the
rest
of
the
google
suite
continues
to
be
used
within
the
brightspace
garden.
D
It
really
does
and
there's
a
lot
more,
that
we
will
be
releasing
over
time,
because
we've
chosen
to
go
slow
to
go
fast,
that
we
just
have
not
given
all
access
to
all
aspects
of
it
because
it
becomes
too
overwhelming,
and
I
think
it
is
really
going
to
be
it's
going
to
allow
us
to
take
this
technology
that
we've
acquired
this
knowledge
that
we've
now
developed
in
the
technology
world
and
really
expand
what
aacps
can
do
into
the
future.
So
it's
really
kind
of
exciting
and
to
the
three
of
you.
Thank
you.
Thank
you.
Welcome.
