first
want
to
inform
the
board
and
the
public
that
the
board
of
education
student
leadership
forum
has
been
rescheduled
considering
our
very
budget,
but
our
very
busy
budget
season
to
march
12th
from
6
to
8
p.m.
At
the
severna
park
high
school
cafeteria,
the
goal
is
to
provide
a
platform
for
students
to
voice
their
concerns
to
myself,
my
fellow
board
members
and
superintendent,
dr
alato,
and
an
invite
will
be
extended
to
student
representatives
from
each
high
school
magnet
program
and
class
leaders.

Additionally,
last
saturday
I
attended
the
nsba
equity
symposium
and
met
with
board
members
and
school
systems
staff
from
across
the
country
involved
in
creating
equity
in
their
respective
communities.
I
was
able
to
get
many
ideas
on
how
we
can
apply
an
equity
lens
to
our
work
as
a
school
board,
and
I'm
grateful
for
the
leadership
that
aacps
has
shown
in
this
area
regardless,
there's
always
work
to
be
done,
so
I'm
pleased
to
provide
an
update
on
the
smob
action
plan.

I
urge
my
fellow
board
members
to
recognize
that,
as
a
student
in
aacps,
I
felt
that
our
curriculum
is
deficient
in
providing
opportunities
for
students
explore
their
own
backgrounds
or
those
of
people
and
cultures.
They
are
curious
about.
I
believe
these
courses
are
a
small
but
crucial
step
in
developing
a
curriculum
that
is
reflective
of
our
diverse
student
body,
but
equity
cannot
be
tackled
just
through
curriculum,
but
must
be
reflected
in
the
direct
voice
of
the
board
shown
through
our
policies.

first

a
student
at
north
county
one.
I
have
been
a
big
fan
of

a
long
time,
and
I
am
I'm
very
proud

announce
that
most
recently
I
was
in
baltimore
and
found
a
news
article
where
our
very
very
own,
mo
gabba
was
recognized
as
sports
person
of
the
year
and
he's
he
was
there
with
the
quarterback
for
the
ravens
as
he
got
that
honor.
So
I
wanted
to
congratulate
moe
on
that
that
achievement.

equities
department
symposium
until
I
did
something
crazy
to
my
hand,
but
I
was
there
last
year
this
year.
I
always
appreciate
the
alternatives
to
approaching
equity
and
inclusion
that
that
symposium
offers-

the
nsba
has
to
offer
throughout
the

unified
champion

recognition
and
celebration.

went
back

the

such
an
amazing
celebration,
a
display

loyalty

school,

importantly,
the
unity
that
I
saw
in
northeast.

with
principal
williams.

it
was

northeast
the
national
unified

We
got
our
rally,
towels
we're

entire
school
cheering

I
loved
that
their
athletic
director
said.
Our
goal
is
not
to
be
an
inclusive
school,
it's
to
be
a
unified
school,
and
this
is
a
step
toward
that
and
they
really
showed
that,
and
so
it
was
really
a
wonderful
celebration.

was
specifically
on
self-care,
and
so
these
were
teachers
who
came
out
on
their
own
time
and
there
was
yoga
and
meditation,
but
there
was
also
behavior
classes
about
how
better
to
respond
to
colleagues
and
st
and
students,
and
it
was
really
a
wonderful
night
of
staff
focusing
on
themselves
and
by
focusing
on
themselves
that
they
can
better
become
better
teachers
and
staff
members.

So
it's
a
great
evening-
and
I
want
to
say
congratulations
to
the
professional
development
department
for
putting
on
such
a
great
thing
and
for
being
a
part
of
that,
and
then
I
also
attended
the
nsb
equity
conference
symposium.
This
is

second
time
I've
gone
to
this,
and
it's
really
an
amazing
experience
to
be
at
a
symposium
that
is
dedicated
to
equity,
identifying
where
we're
falling
short
as
school
systems
celebrating
what
we're
doing
well
gaining
new
ideas.

Everyone
there
came
from
all
over
the
country
because
equity
is
their
focus
and
so
to
be
in
that
room
with
that
energy
of
people
who
all
have
that
same
mindset
is
really
exciting
and
there
we
had
a
great
showing
from
the
school
system.
We
had
multiple
board
members
there.
We
had
staff
and
we
had
some
of
our
community
members,
our
parents
who
were
involved,
and
they
were
all
there
taking
part
in
this
and
we
all
went
to
different
sessions
so
that
we
can
now
brainstorm
and
share
with
each
other.

pleasure

going

cat
south
for
their
region,

skills,
usa
championship
and
if
I
wasn't
already
an
enormous
fan,
I
was
now
I'm
even
bigger
of
a
fan.
It
was
cool
they,

students
competed

variety
of
different
areas.
There
was
a
carpentry.
There
was
welding,
there
was
electricity,
culinary
arts
cosmetology
some
stuff
with
regarding.
I
I
think
it
was
in
their
nursing
assistant
program
and
it
was
just
super
super
cool,
so
yeah
mass
kudos
to
all
of
the
students
who
competed
and
it
I
just
I'm
just
such
a
huge
fan.
So
it
was
a.

a
pleasure
to
be
there.

Today
we
recognize
an
educator
in
our
school
system
who
maintains
the
largest
program
in
the
cat
north
building.
She
coordinates:
students,
testing
business
partnerships,
higher
ed
relationships,
scheduling
of
the
program
and
three
other
teachers
who
all
teach
the
same
class.
This
is
no
easy
feat
for
any
one
person,
but
miss
jennifer.
Matanino
does
all
of
these
things
and
with
ease
jennifer
is
the
department
chair
for
the
academy
of
health
sciences
department.
This
department
affords
students
the
opportunity
to
learn
about
health
professions,
including
nursing,
medical
assistant
and
pharmacy
technician.

These
students
are
able
to
take
these
certifications
and
go
right
into
the
medical
career
fields
or
pursue
higher
education,
often
receiving
college
proficiency
credit,
while
at
cat
north
jennifer
promotes
positive
changes
in
the
growth
of
the
students
and
the
staff,
often
running
professional
development
courses
for
staff
and
organizing
the
42-hour
clinical
practice
per
semester
for
the
students
she
works
tires
tirelessly
to
ensure
students
have
hands-on
training
in
the
field
they're
preparing
to
enter
as
a
nationally
national
board.

a
master's
degree
in
curriculum
and
instruction
with

completing

smallest
job,
to
make
sure
everything
was
done
correctly
and
goes
above
and
beyond,

the
building
in
exemplary
condition.
Ms
jones
displays
a
high
degree
of
willingness
to
assist
other
staff,
members
and

students,
often
not
even
waiting
to
be
asked
to
do
something.
She
jumps
right
in
and
lends
a
hand
she
answers
any
requests
cheerfully
and
willingly.
She
has
an
infinite
amount
of
patience
and
an
excellent
sense
of
humor.

occasion,
she
works
with
students

she's

and

Exceptional
volunteers

a
bit
like
the
explorers
we
heard
about
in
our
history
books.
They
aren't
sure
what
the
journey
will
entail
or
what
their
impact
might
be,
but
they
are
ready
and
willing
to
be
called
to
action.
Today
we
are
here
to
celebrate
the
dedication
of
a
volunteer
who
answered
a
call
to
action
and
the
wonderful
wonderful
journey
that
follows.

Over
the
last
two
school
years,
mr
gray
has
played
a
pivotal
role
in
the
life
of
a
young
student
from
bulgaria.
The
story
goes
like
this.
In
2017,
a
mother
arrived
at
millersville
to
register
her
newly
adopted
son.
She
shared
that
her
son
logan
was
from
bulgaria
and
knew
very
little
english
he'd
spent
years
in
an
orphanage,
and
she
was
understandably
concerned
that
he
would
have
a
difficult
time
adjusting
to
an
american
school
as
fate
would
have
it.

Mr
gray,
today's
wonderful
awardee
chose
that
same
week
to
reach
out
to
the
school
counselor
about
possibly
volunteering.
The
counselor
told
him
about
logan
asking
if
he
would
be
interested
in
helping
the
new
student.
Mr
gray
responded
without
hesitation,
of
course,
and
just
like
an
explorer
the
journey
begins
to.
Since
that
day,
mr
gray
has
been
coming
in
weekly
without
fail.
Helping
logan,
learn
english
by
reading
talking
and
writing,
but
his
assistance
doesn't
end
with
academics.

The
two
have
quite
obviously
built
a
strong
relationship.
Third
grade
teacher
jennifer,
slankowicz
shared
my
students
face
lights
up
each
monday
afternoon.
When
mr
gray
arrives
together,
they
spend
time
reading
and
discussing
logan's
latest
book
and
his
adventures
in
school.
Much
of
logan's
progress
can
be
attributed
to
mr
gray
and
their
time
together.

As
logan's
teacher,
I
am
grateful
that
logan
has
such
a
wonderful
mentor
and
confident
confidant
in
mr
gray.
Mr
gray's
story
doesn't
stop
with
his
dedication
to
logan
according
to
school
counselor,
pam
hudgins,
his
modeling
dedication
and
positive
attitude
have
become
contagious
and
millersville.
Currently

has
several
parents
who
come

school
to
work
one-on-one

students,
helping
them
flourish
and
build
confidence

13th

wonderful

performance
director,
dr
heidi
oliver

program
coordinator,
the
cac,
received
a
briefing
overview
of
the
research,
best
practices,
structures
and
timelines
to
date,
as
it
relates
to
recess.

likewise
participated
in
an
interactive
session
with
the
work
group
in
gathering
in
which
the
data
gathered
will
be
available
to
the
cac
members
for
our
next
meeting.
As
we
devise
next
steps
for
recommendations,
the
cac
will
appoint
one
member
to
be
a
liaison
and
member
of
the
work
group,
who
will
be
an
active
participant.

goals
of
the
work
group
are
to
continue
to
review
and
revise
the
guidelines,
gain
community
input,
develop
and
implement
plans
for
extending
the
recess
block
with
fidelity,
monitor
implementation
and
enhance
the
indoor
resource
toolkit
secondary
members
have
determined
a
review
of
the
magnet
program.
Selection
process
and
lottery
criteria
would
be
their
next
topic.
The
scope
will
be
refined
at
the
next
meeting.

were
two
other
topics:
teacher
retention
and
recruitment
and
vice
incidents
in
anne
arundel
county,
as
well
as
aacps
on
the
former
aacps
recent
acquisition
of
the
hr
professional
to
address
the
concerns
of
recruitment
and
retention.
We
wanted
to
afford
the
time
for
implementation
before
interacting.

However,
we
will
continue
to
monitor
the
cac
will
endeavor
to
establish
communication
for
future
engagement.
On
the
latter
topic
of
bias,
a
task
force
is
being
instituted
by
aacps,
led
by
the
office
of
school
performance
and
office
of
equity
and
accelerated
student
achievement
to
collaborate
with
anne
arundel
county
departments.

cac
will
coordinate
with
the
task
force
to
ensure
member
participation
and
representation,
as
it
relates
to
the
cac
policy.
Our
members
have
provided
recommendations
to
the
policy
committee
for
review
and
policy
updates
through
these
discussions.
The
cac
will
continue
to
provide
feedback
and
may
have
additional
recommendations
to
the
board
related
to
the
policy.

next
meeting
is
scheduled
next
monday
february
10th
to
and
at
that
meeting
we're
going
to
dive
a
little
bit
deeper
and
review
the
existing
data
on
res
on
recess,
as
well
as
the
data
that
was
cut
was
gathered

january
session
and
so
which
we
will
form
some
recommendations
and
look
a
little
bit
further
into
whether
or
not
the
feasibility
for
the
secondary
members.

will
have
a

aacps
lead

have
underlying
information

members

review

the
2019-2020
hiring
season.
During
this
presentation,
we
will
provide
an
update
on
both
the
recruitment
and
retention
of
educators
in
our
school
system.
Aacps
continues
to
strive
to
build
a
workforce
that
is
reflective
of
the
students
we
serve
as
we
have
shared
in
the
past.
This
is
no
easy
task
and
many
challenges
remain.

Finally,
only
76
percent
of
african-american
college
students
who
pursue
education
as
a
major
actually
go
into
teaching
as
a
career
versus
95
percent
of
caucasian
students.
Despite
these
challenges,
we
remain
remain
steadfast
in
our
goals
and
continue
to
look
for
innovative
ways
to
tackle
these
issues.
As
enrollment
in
traditional
teacher
preparation
programs
decline,
our
recruitment
strategies
have
evolved
to
expand
our
candidate
pool
and
recruitment
approaches.

We
continue
to
make
progress
in
our
goal
to
increase
the
diversity
of
our
teacher
workforce
and
we'll
share
some
of
our
successes
with
you
today.
As
of
october
8th
2019,
anne
arundel,
county
public
schools,
hired
872
unit
1
employees
for
teaching
positions.
This
is
a
28
increase
in
the
number
of
teachers
hired
versus
that
same
time
last
year
and
the
largest
number
of
teachers
hired
in
the
last
decade.

The
national
state
and
local
teacher
shortage
and
our
hiring
of
more
conditionally
certified
teachers
underscores
the
need
to
evolve
our
recruitment
practices
to
attract
highly
quali
high-quality
candidates
from
both
traditional
and
non-traditional
pathways.
We
will
discuss
our
efforts
on
this
in
greater
detail
later
during
the
presentation.

So
we
are
excited
to
report
that
approximately
23.2
percent
of
our
new
teachers
were
diverse
and
nearly
20
percent
were
male
as
of
october
8th,
this
percentage
is
very
close
to
our
all-time
high
of
23.7
percent
reached
during
the
2018-2019
school
year.
Considering
the
significant
increase
in
teachers
hired,
this
percentage
is
a
testament
to
our
continued
focus
on
recruiting
a
diverse
workforce.

during
the
2019-2020
hiring
season,
aacps
recruitment
staff
attended,
38
recruitment
events,
which
included
college
career
fairs,
statewide
teacher
job
fairs
and
military
focused,
hiring
events,
25
percent
of
the
events
attended
were
diversity,
focused
job
fairs
or
visits
to
colleges
and
universities
with
higher
proportions
of
students
from
underrepresented
groups.
We
are
continuing
to
evaluate
additional
recruitment
opportunities
with
more
diverse
colleges
and
universities,
including
historically
black
public
colleges
and
universities,
also
known
as
hbcu
as
we
continue
to
face
an
unprecedented
teacher
shortage.

This
is
nearly
double
the
136
open
contracts
offered
during
the
previous
hiring
season.
We
continue
to
focus
on
top
diverse
applicants
and
high
performing
student
interns

of
the
candidates
who
were
offered
open
contracts
accepted
positions
with
aacps

accepted
our

were

In
addition,
human
resource
representatives
continue
to
proactively
reach
out
to
principals.
To
help
identify
highly
qualified
student
interns
and
offer
open
contracts,
our
human
resource
recruiters
have
already
scheduled
visits
with
all
aacps
interns
to
share
information
regarding
the
hiring
process
and
answer
any
questions
on
october
10th,
in
partnership
with
the
office
of
professional
growth
and
development,
human
resources
hosted
an
interim
job
fair,
where
six
interns
were
extended
open
contracts.

On
april
6
of
2019
aacps
hosted
our
teacher
diversity,
job
fair,
held
at
severna
park
high
school.
The
event
was
attended
by
over
190
teachers
and
representatives
from
aacps
schools
and
curriculum
offices,
teachers
eligible
to
attend
our
diversity.
Job
fair
must
fall
into
one
of
the
following
three
categories:
professionally:
certified
educators
from
underrepresented,
racial
and
ethnic
groups,
male
educators,
professionally
certified
in
elementary
or
early
childhood
education.

We
are
hosting
this
event
earlier
in
the
recruitment
season
in
order
to
attract
more
highly
qualified
candidates
in
january
of
2019,
aacps
returned
to
san
juan
puerto
rico.
To
host
our
third
recruitment
event,
nearly

indeed
and

handshake,

is
the
largest
online
career
community
for
students
and
recent
grads

subcommittee
of

teacher
shortage
task
force
has
met
multiple
times,
cementing

strong
partnership
between
human
resources
and
the
communications

to
host
recruitment

to
attract

consider

career
in
teaching
this
year's

recruitment
team
utilizes
numerous
strategies
to
hire
the
best
employees,
we
must
do
equally
as
much
to
keep
them
in
our
district.
We
are
all
aware
of
the
challenges
that
face
school
districts
when
it
comes
to
retaining
teachers.
This
challenge
is
even
greater
when
you
consider
the
smaller
numbers
of
diverse
educators
within
our
system
and
their
high
demands
in
all
areas.
At
the
end
of
the
2018-2019
school
year,
teacher
turnover
was
11.

A
review
of
data
for
that
same
school
year
shows
that
aacps
retained
nearly
79
percent
of
diverse,
professionally
certified
educators
for
a
second
year.
This
represents
an
increase
from
the
previous
year
when
retention
was
76
percent
factors
that
affected
teacher
retention
include
teachers
who
were
separated
by
principal
non-renewal
teachers,
who
resigned
for
personal
reasons
and
teachers
who
resigned
to
teach
in
other
districts.

Anne
arundel
county
public
schools
also
offers
a
workshop
for
conditional
teachers,
which
we
believe
is
helping
to
increase
retention
amongst
this
group.
This
workshop
provides
additional
assistance
to
teachers
who
most
likely
did
not
complete
a
teacher
education
program
and
may
be
stepping
into
the
classroom
for
the
first
time.

The
voluntary
session
includes
rotating
workshop
topics
such
as
classroom
management
planning
for
instruction
and
parent
communication.
The
workshop
was
moved
to
an
evening
session
to
alleviate
the
need
for
substitutes
to
cover
teacher
absences.
This
year's
workshop
was
held
in
december
and
was
attended
by
47
teachers.

In
addition
to
our
diversity
week,
anne
arundel
county
public
schools
will
host
additional
diversity
and
inclusion
activities
throughout
the
year
on
dates.
Preceding
school-wide,
professional
development
that
is
conducted
by
aacps
equity,
leads
and
school-based
staff.
We
are
striving
to
support
diverse
educators
within
our
county
in
a
number
of
ways.
We
continue
to
host
networking
events
to
pro
to
provide
our
diverse
educators
with
an
opportunity
to
connect
with
colleagues
outside
of
the
classroom.

leads
program
has
already
hosted
four
workshops
during
the
2019-2020
school
year,
which
have
been
attended
by
91
educators
funded
through
a
grant.
These
paid
professional
development
sessions
provide
teachers
with
an
opportunity
to

their
first
few
years
within
aacps
connect
with
diverse
educators
from
across
the
county,
reflect
on
their
personal
experiences
in
our
schools
and
discuss
the
importance
of
diversity
and
inclusion

aacps.

support
our
conditionally
certified
educators
this
year,
due
to
their
large
numbers,
a
special
boot
camp
was
held
for
conditional
teachers
from
july
31st.

training
was
designed
to
provide
conditionally
certified
educators
with
a
practical
understanding
of
the
craft
of
teaching,
as
well
as
to
review
expectations
of
aacps
prior
to
the
beginning
of
the
school
year.

challenges
presented
by
teacher
shortages
remain
prevalent
and
may
only
worsen
in
the
coming
years,
with
fewer
students
enrolling
in
teacher
education
programs
and
more
conditionally
certified
educators,
filling
classroom
positions.
School
districts
must
identify
ways
to
not
only
attract
more
future
educators
to
the
profession,
but
also
support
those
teachers
who
lack
full
preparation.

mutual

that's

the

evolving
our

numerous
county
government
officials,
employees
and
departments
to
find
ways

keep

participants

parking
in
our
designated
pool
lot.
I'm
talking
about
the
pool
right
out
front

I
speak
with
you
because
the
board
of
education
leases
the
parking
lot
to
the
pool,
but
the
major
abuse
comes
from
the
high
school
students,
the
substitutes
there
at
annapolis,
high
school,
the
parents
and
school
event
participants.

other
events
where
I've
seen
county
employees
monitor
parking
people
just
walk
up
to
the
high
school
anyway,
however,
students
and
school
visitors
will
quickly
realize
pretty
soon
that
it's
already
happening,
that
nobody

watching,

rush
hour.
It's
like
maybe
hour
and
a
half
in
the
morning,
an
hour
and
a
half
if
that
long
in
the
afternoon,
more
actions
need
to
be
taken.

small

signs
explaining

parking
lot

pull
only
were
removed

weeks
ago

was
told

with

student

she

workshop
on
monday

13th

resilient
while

encouraging

assistance

development
module

has
been
created
for
the
february
12th
early
dismissal
in
response
to
the
2018
maryland
state
police
report
on
hate
crimes
in
anne
arundel
county
and
the
number
of
bias
motivated
reports
filled
out
at
schools.

anti-bias
approach
encourages
children
and
young
people
to
challenge
prejudice
and
learn
how
to
be
agents
of
change
in
their
own
lives.
This
module
provides
the
tools
for
educators
for
how
to
respond
to
remarks
made
by
students
and
by
other
adults
modeling.
The
kind
of
behavior
we
want
from
students
is
one
of
the
most
effective
ways
of
teaching
it.
I
will
give
a
quick
overview
of
four
strategies
covered
in
the
module
strategy.
One
is
interrupting.

to
speak
up

bias
remark
every
time
in
the
moment,
without
exception
strategy.

ask
simple

this
past
monday
evening,
the
county
council
took
up
county
bill
number
1-20,
which
is
the
an
ordinance
concerning
public
safety,
school
bus
monitoring
cameras.
So
after
an
extended
period
of
work,
by
that
I
mean
about
two
hours
two
years,
the
council
finally
took
up
the
public
hearing
and
a
vote
on
the
school
camera
bill.
I
passed
7-0
unanimously.

I
really
appreciate
the
support
that
that
we,
as
staff
receive
from
the
superintendent
and
from
miss
corcodell,
who
appeared
and
testified
on
behalf
and
the
entire
board
for
taking
up
the
essentially
the
letter,
support
and
resolution.

So
now
the
easy
part's
done.
Our
project
plan
basically
is
to
put
together
a
team
to
develop
an
rfp.
We're
gonna
have
to
go
out
through
a
solicitation
process.
We're
fortunate
that
montgomery
county
has
already
done
that
and
howard
county
just
recently
completed
that
we've
already
met
with
the
montgomery
county.
Folks,
we've
been
in
close
communication
with
the
howard
county
folks
every
step
of
the
way,
but
now
that
they've
actually
closed
their
rfp
and
awarded
their
project,
we're
going
to
meet
with
them
and
her
project
team
to
get
up
to
speed
on
it.

county
office
of
law
and
the
county
police
department
have
already
committed
to

part
of
our
project
team
and,
in
fact,
to
be
part
of
our
solicitation
and
scoring
system,

the

product
obviously
has

product

be
the
enforcement
agency,
they're
going
to
be
the
ones
that

dealing
with
revenue
collections
and

law
will
come
into
effect

aligned

there

some
discussion
and
I'll

it's
preliminary.
Some
discussion
on

some
parts
of
the
county
of
exploring
the
interest

school
speed
zone
cameras.

the
technology.
The
state
also
has
enabling
legislation
at
the
macro
level
that
allows
for
the
utilization
of
that.
This
would
not
be
a
school
district
led
initiative
right,
but
this
will
be
a
county
initiative.
They
wish
to
do
so.
The
city
of
annapolis
already
has
undertaken.

has
passed
an
ordinance
and
actually
has
school
p
speed
zone
cameras
installed
at
not
just
public
school
settings,
but
private
school
settings
that
comport
with
the
law.
So
we
are
at
the
initial
phases
of
that,
as
I
attend
meetings
and
learn
more
about
the
vision
for
that
from
the
county
government.

that
with

to

executive

budget
that
he
would
deliver
to
the
county
council
no
later

The
county
councils
got
between
may

and

15th
to
deliberate
on
the
finished
product

board

novels
that
are
given

us

english

read
the
kind
of
novels

reading

and

this
semester,
I

three
novels
to
read
for
english,
one,
which
is
from
a
hispanic
author,
one
from
an
african-american
author
and
one

vietnamese
author,
and
these
are
books
that
have
even
been
banned
in
other
countries.
So
I'm
noticing
the
exposure
in
my
own
learning,
just
to
kind
of
reassure
you
of
the
work
that
is
being
done
by
acps.

give
some
context
and
the
the
issue
we're
talking
about,
it's

a
beast
of
a
problem,
and

integral
feature
of
the

public
education
system
for
nearly
100
years,
they're
widely
regarded
as
the
principal
democratic
body
capable
of
representing
citizens
and
our
local
education
decisions.

areas,
major
contributions
to
criminal
justice,
reform,
civil
rights,
access
to
the
courts
and
fourth
amendment
jurisprudence.
He
summarized
it
appropriately.
Well,
he
said
that
ethics
is
knowing
the
difference
between
what
you
have
a
right
to
do
and
what
is
actually
right
to
do.

We
personally
oversee
an
employee
workforce
of
about
10
000
people
and
our
clients,
who
are
students,
are
the
almost
eighty
five
thousand
that
we
represent.
We
educate
and
provide
core
services
to
ethics
must
begin
at
the
top
of
an
organization.
It
is
a
leadership
issue
and
the
chief
executive
must
set
the
example,
edward
hennessey,
who
is
a
philanthropist
and
the
retired
chairman

ceo
of
allied
signal
inc,
a
company
we
are
very
familiar
with
here

this
up
because,
well,
quite
frankly,
we
just
went
through
over
the

course
of
the
last
year
and
probably
well
prior

prior

elected

come

have
renovated

continuing

tackle
these,

with
social
media
and
some
other

addressed

those
gray
areas

as

fundraising

ensuring

there's
accountability
at
that

updated

financial
disclosure
protocols
that
did
out
of
all
those
policies.
That
is
the
only
one
that
actually
did
directly
apply
to
the
board.

the
financial
we've

a
little
bit
sitting

this

and
a
little
piece
of
this
over
in
that

and
then
the
rest

it
is
in
a
handbook
that,
although
good
suggestions
to
the
board

regularly
recognized

something
that
is
truly
in
a
in
the
state
of
accountability,

so
with
that
in
mind
and
carrying
some
of
my
experiences
when
reviewing
some
of
these
matters,

asked
if
we
could
consider
developing.

complex

we
were

comes

hard

looking

conduct
as

true
contract
between

people
don't

opportunities

hold
us
accountable
with

governing

of

arundel
county
every
statesman,

judge

in
our
county.

can
at
least
attest
to
have
a
code
of
conduct
that
is
clear,
present
evident.
People
can
actually
pull
it
up
on
their
website
and
point
to
it
and
say
this
is
what
I'm
accountable
to
and
that's
where
I
think
we
need
to
be.

about

rules
or
regulations
imposing
upon
us.

saying
outwardly.

have
a
contract
with
you,

people,
and
you
need
to
understand
that
my
self-governance

I
am
not
so
egotistical

presume
that
I'm
always
going
to
get
it
right,

I'm
not
this
also
serves
as
a
deterrent.

chambers
listening

conversations

legislation

really
stuck
and
drove
home

council

slapping
on
a
bunch
of
fines
and
being

money

deterrent

we
say

we
stand
for

character

loud.

respect
and

kids,
our
hate

bias

bullying.

continuing

human
beings

make
mistakes

somehow

way

board

elected

board
member

separate
themselves
from
their
constituents

advocate
for
the

policies
that

important
to
them

for

under
this
policy?
