to
the
Board
of
Education
meeting
recap
where
we'll
give
you
a
brief
rundown
of
what
happened
at
the
most
recent
meeting.
Just
in
case,
you
missed
it
at
the
meeting
on
September
7
2022,
the
board
discussed
redistricting
capital
budget
and
virtual
day
instruction,
among
other
things,
as
part
of
the
superintendent's
report,
Dr
Bedell
reflected
on
his
visit
to
schools
to
celebrate
the
start
to
the
school
year.

After
working
with
a
consultant,
the
citizen
advisory
committee
in
aacps
staff,
Dr
Bedell,
will
submit
his
recommendation
in
December.
The
board
will
then
hold
public
hearings
before
adopting
a
plan
in
April
of
2023..
The
public
will
be
made
fully
aware,
as
the
process
continues
for
review
and
approval.
At
the
next
meeting,
Dr
Bedell
submitted
the
FY
2024
capital
budget
plan.

design
and

construction
funding
for
five
major
projects:
West
County
Elementary
School
construction
for
12.6
million
dollars,
Old
Mill,
Middle,
School,
South
construction
for
37.3
million
dollars,
Center
of
Applied
technology,
North
construction
for
58.4
million
dollars,
all
my
middle
school
north
design
and
construction
for
11.4
million
dollars
and
Old
Mill,
High,
School
design
and
construction
for
12.7
million
dollars.

a
later
meeting,
Dr
Bedell
shared
that
aacps
has
created
a
plan
that
will
allow
for
virtual
instruction
to
occur
in
some
inclement
weather
days.
The
Maryland
State
Department
of
Education
must
approve
the
final
plan,
which
gives
school
systems
leeway
to
conduct
synchronous
or
asynchronous
instruction
for
students.
On
up
to
eight
days,
though,
no
more
than
three
can
be
asynchronous,
the
plan
will
be
posted
for
public
comment
on
Friday
September
9th
comment
will
be
accepted
through
September
18th,
with
the
plan
going
back
before
the
board
on
September
21st
for
approval.

must
then
be
sent
to
msde
for
review
and
approval
the
board
formally
adopted
terms
of
employment
for
unit
1
employees
as
ordered
by
the
public
school
Labor
Relations
Board.
The
terms
include
a
step
increase
for
all
eligible
unit,
1
employees,
a
four
percent
cost
of
living
adjustment
for
all
unit
1
employees,
payment
for
class
coverage
under
an
existing
memorandum
of
understanding,
a
stipend
not
to
exceed
one
thousand
five
hundred
dollars
for
special
Educators
and
related
service
providers.

Over
a
two-year
period,
beginning
in
fiscal
year,
23
and
continuing
through
fiscal
year,
24
continuation
of
210
minutes
of
weekly
planning
time,
a
provision
that
non-professional
duties
will
not
exceed
120
minutes
per
week.
Hr
is
processing
payroll
adjustments
so
that
unit
1
employees
can
receive
the
above
increases
as
soon
as
possible.
