the
Board
of
Education
meeting
recap:
where
we'll
give
you
a
brief
rundown
of
what
happened
at
the
most
recent
meeting.
Just
in
case,
you
missed
it
at
the
meeting
on
October
4th
2022,
the
board
discussed
virtual
day
instruction
Transportation
issues
and
budget
priorities,
among
other
things,
in
recognition
of
their
exemplary
work.
The
board
celebrated
Lindsay
Luna
of
Glen
Burnie,
High,
School,
Ashley
Smith
of
child,
find
Community,
Based,
Services
and
Pat
Lindstrom
of
Waugh
Chapel
Elementary
School
as
the
educator
employee
and
volunteer
of
the
month
respectively
for
October
2022.

recognition
is
done
every
month
during
the
school
year.
As
part
of
the
superintendent's
report,
Dr
Bedell
discussed
his
100-day
entry
plan,
which
is
updated
online
and
www.aacps.org
entryplan
every
Friday
next
Dr
Bedell
discussed
his
recently
announced
updates
to
the
guidelines
for
teachers.
Regarding
the
learning
management
system
brightspace,
he
said
he
will
continue
to
seek
input
regarding
the
platform,
including
a
survey
to
be
distributed
in
the
second
semester.
A
Dr
Bedell
shared
that
the
aacps
is
much
discussed.
Virtual
instruction
day
plan
has
been
approved
by
the
Maryland
State
Department
of
Education.
He
emphasized
that
the
plan
is
simply
another
tool
for
aacps
to
use
for
flexibility
it
in
no
way
mandates
that
there
will
be
no
snow
days
in
aacps.
These
decisions
will
be
made
on
a
case-by-case
basis.
Dr
burdell
then
focused
his
report
on
an
in-depth
update
on
Transportation
issues.

This
move
allows
for
either
an
additional
morning
run
for
a
middle
school
or
an
afternoon
run
for
an
elementary
school
to
alleviate
the
burden
on
families
for
part
of
the
school
day.
Dr
Bedell
also
announced
that
an
emergency
procurement
plan
that
is
underway
to
procure
more
passenger
vans
to
transport
students
to
non-public
schools,
thus
freeing
up
CDL
licensed
drivers
and
buses
to
run
routes
at
comprehensive
schools.

also
announced
that,
at
the
semester,
break
aacps
will
look
at
providing
service
to
any
route
that
has
not
had
service
throughout
the
first
semester
by
moving
routes
that
have
been
running
for
other
students.
Families
will
be
notified
accordingly.
Also
for
its
budget
priorities.
The
board
approved
five
categorical
priorities
for
Dr
Bedell
to
consider,
as
he
puts
together
his
fiscal
year,
2024
operating
and
capital
budgets
to
be
delivered
to
the
board
in
December.

are
Transportation
working
towards
competitive
compensation,
special
education,
Early
Childhood
literacy
and
mental
health
staff.
The
next
Board
of
Education
meeting
will
be
held
at
6
30
pm
on
Wednesday
October
19
2022.
