actions

March
16th
board
of
education
meeting
just

it

part

school
start

dismissal
times
the
board
of
education
as
superintendent

to
prepare
two
plans
for
shifting
school
start
times
and
dismissal
times
beginning
in
the
2017
2018
school
year,
the
county
provided
the
board
with
six
hundred
two
thousand
dollars
in
fiscal
year,
2016
budget
to
use
towards
start
and
dismissal.
Time
changes.

The
board
is
requesting
an
additional
1.4
million
dollars
in
fiscal
year
2017.
In
a
unanimously
approved
motion,
the
board
asked
dr.
Alado
to
present
plans
attainable
under
the
following
scenarios.
The
county
provides
funding
of
the
1.4
million
in
the
board's
fiscal
year.
2017
budget
request,
leaving
the
school
system
with
approximately
two
million
dollars
to
use
toward
the
initiative
or
the
county
does
not
provide
any
additional
funding
in
fiscal
year.
A
2017
leaving
the
school
system
with
six
hundred
two
thousand
to
allocate
to
the
initiative
in
its
discussion
of
the
emotion,
the
board
made
clear
that
it
is
not
obligated
to
accept
either
of
the
plans
and
the
approved
plan
would
not
be
implemented
until
the
2017
2018
school
year
because
of
the
time
needed
for
contractors
to
order
and
obtain
additional
buses.

at
the
second
board
meeting
will
present
the
plans
in
April
the
board
reviewed
for
policies
in
the
second
stage
of
the
revision
process,
policies
about
technology
use
and
security,
professional
staff
promotions
and
appointments,
school
safety
patrols
and
violence
and
vandalism
will
come
before
the
board
once
more
for
approval
as
policy
proposals
and
revisions
typically
go
through
three
rounds
of
review
with
the
board
making
a
final
decision
at
the
third
reading.
The
board
also
heard
an
update
regarding
legislation
currently
before
the
Maryland
General
Assembly
that
impacts
local
and
state
public
education.
