the
Board
of
Education
meeting
recap
where
we'll
give
you
a
brief
rundown
of
what
happened
at
the
most
recent
meeting.
Just
in
case,
you
missed
it
at
the
meeting
on
September
21st
2022,
the
board
discussed
Transportation
issues,
its
non-discrimination
policy
virtual
day
instruction
and
capital
budget,
among
other
things,
in
a
heartwarming
recognition.

As
part
of
the
president's
report,
Dr
Tobin
announced
that
the
board
is
continuing
to
have
discussions
around
redistricting
and
that
the
citizen
advisory
committee
may
play
a
role
in
the
process.
As
part
of
the
superintendent's
report,
Dr
Bedell
discussed
his
100-day
entry
plan,
which
is
updated
online
at
www.aacps.org
entryplan
every
Friday.
In
addition,
he
addressed
the
ongoing
Transportation
issues
and
that
work
continues
around
being
creative
and
collaborative
to
find
Solutions
aimed
at
getting
every
student
to
school
on
a
daily
basis.

Bedell
mentioned
that
there
will
be
an
announcement
on
Friday
September
23
2022.
Regarding
the
learning
management
system
brightspace,
there
will
be
changes
on
how
the
system
is
used.
After
having
several
conversations
with
teachers,
school-based
Personnel
families
and
collaborative
discussions
with
the
Teachers
Association
of
Anne
Arundel
County
Dr
Bedell
also
announced
that
deep
data
Dives
of
school
and
student
performance
will
be
done
and
there
will
be
public
presentations
that
allow
for
public
conversation
around
the
data,
so
that
disparities
in
the
district
can
be
addressed
with
realistic
goal.

The
board
discussed
its
initial
top
fiscal
year,
24
budget
priorities
garnered
from
recommendations
from
board
members.
The
board
will
approve
its
final
fiscal
year
2024
budget
priorities
at
the
October
4th
meeting.
The
board
held
its
first
reading
on
proposed
revisions
to
policy
AC.
The
revisions
are
being
made
to
align
with
updated
state
law
and
regulations
that
prohibit
one
a
school
from
refusing
to
enroll
a
student
based
on
the
student-specified
characteristics
and
two
retaliatory
actions.

board
adopted
without
any
changes
the
recommended
plan
presented
to
it
on
September
7th
to
repurpose
inclement
weather
days
as
virtual
instruction
days
under
the
pathway
established
by
the
Maryland
State
Department
of
Education
by
way
of
review,
msde's
plan
allows
school
systems
to
conduct
synchronous
or
asynchronous
instruction
for
students
on
up
to
eight
days,
though
no
more
than
three
can
be
asynchronous
Dr
Bedell
chose
and
the
board
agreed
to
focus
solely
on
inclement
weather
days.
For
this
purpose,
under
the
adopted
plan,
no
more
than
three
days
can
be
used
in
any
single
marking
period.

be
made
on
a
case-by-case
basis.
The
board
approved
without
change

bedell's
recommended
fiscal
year,

capital
budget
and
six-year
Capital
Improvement
plan.
It
contains
design
and
or
construction
funding
for
five
major
projects:
West
County
Elementary
School
construction
for
12.6
million
dollars,
Oldman
Middle,
School,
South
construction
for
37.3
million
dollars,
Center
of
Applied
technology,
North
construction
for
58.4
million
dollars,
all
Mill
Middle,
School,
North
design
and
construction
for
11.4
million
dollars,
Old
Mill,
High,
School
design
and
construction
for
12.7
million
dollars.
