Hello
and
welcome
to
the
Board
of
Education
meeting
recap
where
we'll
give
you
a
brief
rundown
of
what
happened
at
the
most
recent
meeting.
Just
in
case,
you
missed
it
at
the
meeting
on
November,
2nd
2022,
the
board
discussed
new
courses
and
policy
revisions,
among
other
things,
in
recognition
of
their
exemplary
work.
The
board
celebrated
Lydia
teal
of
Monarch
Global
public
contract,
School
Darlene
stoffel
of
the
resource
center
at
Point,
Pleasant
and
Tony
Murray
of
Central
Middle
School
as
the
educator
employee
and
volunteer
of
the
month
respectively
for
November
2022..

This
recognition
is
done
every
month
during
the
school
year.
There
was
one
virtual
public
comment
at
the
meeting
and
the
board
heard
a
report
from
the
parent
teacher
Association
of
Anne
Arundel
County
as
part
of
the
superintendent's
update
Dr
burdell
informed
the
board
that
the
number
of
bus
routes
that
have
not
been
serviced
for
most
of
the
school
year
thus
far
remains
constant.
However,
there
is
an
increase
in
down
Route
due
to
an
increase
in
illnesses
such
as
the
flu
RSV
and
covid.

There
are
currently
67
bus
driver
vacancies
with
45
potential
drivers
in
training.
In
addition,
the
emergency
procurement
process
has
concluded
with
bids
currently
under
review
and
a
plan
likely
to
be
presented
to
the
board
at
the
next
scheduled
public
session.
Dr
Bedell
then
turned
to
his
update
to
provide
another
brief
overview
of
the
100-day
entry
plan
and
the
next
steps
in
this
process
to
assess
the
work
of
the
district
to
inform
his
vision
forward.
That
plan
is
updated,
every
Friday
and
can
be
viewed
at
www.aacps.org
entry
plan.

Importantly,
a
key
effort
in
the
plan
involves
15,
listening
and
learning
tours
to
be
held
between
Monday
November
28th
and
Wednesday
January
11th
throughout
the
county.
Dr
Bendel
shared
the
dates
and
locations
for
those
sessions
which
can
be
reviewed
under
the
news
releases
section
at
www.aacps.org.
Next,
the
board
heard
a
presentation
about
exciting
new
courses
that
will
further
diversify
rigor
and
offerings
for
students
in
the
areas
of
agricultural
studies,
Apex
Arts
Theater,
world
and
Classical
Languages
and
theater
technology.

In
an
8-0
vote,
the
board
approved
the
schematic,
design
and
design
development
plans
for
the
Chesapeake
science
Point
Public
Charter
Elementary
School
under
policies.
The
board
moved
forward
with
a
third
reading
approval
for
revisions
to
code,
baf
ethics
and
conflicts.
In
addition,
the
board
reviewed
second
reading
revisions
for
code
AC,
non-discrimination,
which
will
likely
be
adopted
at
the
next
meeting.
