And
welcome
to
the
Anne

digest
bringing
you
news
about
the
people
and
programs
of
Anne
Arundel
County
Public

with
lots
of
smiles
and
enthusiasm.
A
ACPs
welcomed
more
students
through
school
doors
than
ever.
82,000
students
were
eagerly
greeted
by
teachers
and
administrators
and
in
some
cases
Board
of
Education
members,
Superintendent
of
Schools,
dr.
George,
our
lotto
county
executive,
Steve,
Schuh
and
state
superintendent,
dr.
Karen
salmon,
who
were
all
equally
excited
to
see
students.
This.

Today,
the
school
which
is
slated
to
implement
their
primary
years
program
serve
students
from
the
Annapolis
cluster
with
the
school
year
off
to
such
a
positive
start.
There
are
surely
more
awesome
things
to
come
from
keeping
up
with
their
summer
reading
list
to
making
sure
that
their
math
skills
were
fresh
students
kept
busy
all
summer
trying
to
prevent
the
Summer
Slide
while
enjoying
the
other
summer
activities.

E
Day
of
school
I
like
to
highlight
to
me
all
my
new
friends,
the
old
friends,
might
see
my
new
teachers
and
try
to
make
relations
with
everyone
to
have
a
good
year.
I
did
a
lot
of
STEM,
prep
and
SAT.
Preparing
this
for
to
make
the
school
year
go
a
lot
smoother
and
to
help.
You
know
me
study
a
lot
more.
The.
B
Anne
Arundel
County
Board
of
Education
newest
member,
was
recently
sworn
in
at
the
County
Circuit
courthouse
Linthicum
resident
Colin
Reinhardt
took
an
oath
of
public
service
before
his
family
friends
and
colleagues.
Reinhart
was
appointed
to
fill
the
at-large
seat.
That
became
vacant
when
Tom
Frank
resigned
in
February.
The
former
educator
is
excited
to
make
an
impact
for
County
students,
so.
A
What
speaks
to
me
from
being
involved
in
education
for
more
than
13
years
is
certainly
our
English
language
learners
and
our
newest
newest
community
members.
It's
important
to
me
that
those
students
are
well
represented
and
have
the
services
that
they
need
to
be
successful.
In
addition
to
that,
one
of
the
things
that
that
speaks
to
me
is
vocational
instruction.
A
It
tears
me
up
when
I
see
a
student
who
is
being
successful
in
a
vocational
program,
but
maybe
struggling
at
traditional
academics
and
because
of
those
struggles,
they
may
be
forced
to
leave
the
vocational
program
which
could
ultimately
end
up
being
their
career,
so
I'm
very
interested
in
looking
at
what
are
their
avenues.
We
have
to
keep
the
students
enrolled
and
they're
both
in
the
vocational
programs
that
they're
so
passionate
about,
and
then
the
third
one
is
definitely
be
able
to
increase
our
diversity
among
our
teaching
staff
and
our
professional
staff
in
the
schools.
A
F
H
County
Public
Schools
really
values
its
relationships
with
our
partners.
Arca,
our
community
partners
are
the
ones
who
really
come
through
for
us
and
bring
in
school
supplies.
Backpacks
things
that
our
students,
that
are
the
neediest
students,
really
need
to
make
sure
that
they
have
all
the
tools
to
start
their
school
year
off.
Just
like
everyone
else.
H
We
want
everyone
to
have
a
great
start
of
the
school
year
and
everyone
knows
how
excited
they
were
when
they
got
their
backpack,
full
of
all
their
new
school
supplies
and
that
first
day
of
school
they
came
ready
and
prepared,
and
we
want
every
student
in
our
school
system,
all
82,000
of
them
to
feel
that
way
and
our
community
partners
are
who
make
that
happen.
So
we
are
so
appreciative
to
have
them
helping.
B
I
C
Welcome
you
to
a
CPS
I,
welcome
you
to
a
new
school
year.
I,
welcome
you
to
our
family.
This
is
a
pretty
special
place.
So,
as
I
said,
this
is
your
31.
For
me
as
an
educator,
this
is
my
I'm
going
in
my
fourth
year
as
the
superintendent
and
my
twelfth
year
in
this
school
system.
As
a
part
of
this
family
and
I
could
tell
you
from
being
in
several
different
districts
over
my
30-year
career
I.
Don't
want
to
be
anywhere
else.

Hints
on
time,
management,
work,
ethic
and
discipline
among
other
issues
were
addressed.
The
three-day
event
allows
educators
to
become
familiar
with
school
system
procedures
and
protocol,
as
well
as
receive
valuable
information
on
the
topics
related
to
their
content
or
program
areas.
Performing
and
visual
arts
magnet
students
in
the
dance
program
were
also
busy
this
summer
honing
their
skills
in
a
partnership
with
local
arts
organization,
world
artists,
experiences,
professional
ballet,
dancer,
Fernando,
Rodriguez,
Montano
and
Colombian
jazz
musician
groups.
B
J
Is
a
once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity
for
these
students
he
is
overseas.
They
will
be
able
to
write
this
down
in
their
memories,
that
they
got
to
have
a
class
from
and
see
a
performance
from
this
dancer.
He
also
is
in
the
midst
of
they
are
making
a
documentary
film
that
will
be
in
theaters
within
the
next
year,
so
this
is
a
once-in-a-lifetime
memory
that
they
should
cherish
forever.

O
Like
to
get
in
front
of
the
students
in
front
of
the
classrooms,
we
have
a
whole
curriculum
that
we
put
together
that
some
of
the
school
districts
would
like
as
part
of
their
purchase.
We
provide
all
the
data
for
science
classes
and
for
statistics
and
math
classes
really.
However,
we
can
use
this
to
educate,
we're
all
for
and
we'll
help
in
that
endeavor.
It's.
C
Not
only
reducing
our
carbon
footprint
and
being
good
stewards
of
the
public's
money
of
the
taxpayer
money
and
how
we
are
best
utilizing
our
facilities
and
our
use
of
their
dollars,
but
it
also
we
are
the
role
models
for
our
students
right.
Our
students
are
watching
us
as
closely
as
they're
watching
as
we're
watching
them,
and
this
is
again
showing
them
that
this
is
important
for
our
sustainability,
for
theirs
and
into
the
future.
Thank.

When
a
school
bus
stops
to
load
students
as
a
driver,
this
is
what
you
will
see
at
a
hundred
and
fifty
feet.
The
bus
will
activate
hazard
lights
at
a
hundred
feet.
The
bus
driver
will
activate
the
amber
lights,
they
will
start
slowing
down
at
ten
feet
before
the
bus
stops.
They
will
turn
on
the
red
bus
lights.
There
stop
sign
will
come
out
and
students
will
begin
to
load
once
all
students
are
on
board
safely.
The
bus
driver
will
turn
off
red
lights
and
move
forward
at
this
time.
