From YouTube: Crofton Elementary School Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Description
September 24, 2015
B
Thank
you
good
afternoon.
My
name
is
Kareem
and
I'm.
In
fifth
grade
I
am
Croft
Elementary.
This
is
my
school.
A
special
song
has
been
composed
and
arranged
by
our
music
teacher,
miss
Warner
our
second
grade
teacher
Miss
Devereaux.
Please
enjoy
the
sparkling
school
performed
by
a
special
group
of
students
directed
by
Miss
owner.
C
Good
afternoon
my
name
is
mo
Balaji
and
I'm
in
fifth
grade.
I
am
Crafton
elementary
school.
This
is
my
school
I
have
prepared
a
speech
for
you
this
evening.
I
would
like
to
share
with
you
what
it
means
to
have
a
new
school,
what
I
like
about
my
new
school
and
why
it's
important
to
learn
in
a
new
building
what
it
means
to
have
a
new
school
comparing
glass
school
year
to
this
school
year.
The
renovations
distractions
and
noise
is
over.
C
We
now
have
a
new
cafeteria
computer
lab,
gym
science
lab
and,
of
course,
a
new
and
and,
of
course,
new
recess
equipment.
Everything
looks
we
mark
you
remarkable
and
spectacular
what
I
like
about
my
new
school
I
admire
the
new
appearance
of
Crafton
elementary
school,
both
the
outward
and
inward
look.
It
looks
very
beautiful,
clean
and
neat
the
renovation
of
cotton.
Elementary
School
has
bought
it
to
a
high
standard,
mod
of
a
modern
school.
Why
it's
important
to
learn
in
a
new
school.
C
D
E
What
an
exciting
day
here
at
Crofton,
as
our
students
have
mentioned,
this
is
indeed
your
school.
This
school
was
built
for
you
and
gives
us
the
necessary
resources
and
space
to
help
you
reach
your
goals
and
dreams
for
the
future.
This
is
a
very
significant
day
in
the
history
of
Crofton
Elementary,
which
is
why
we
changed
our
mission
statement
to
reflect
this
new
beginning.
E
Our
school
has
a
great
legacy
of
achievement
and
exceptional
instruction,
and
while
our
mission
statement
is
new,
that
attitude
is
the
same,
so
in
collaboration
with
students,
staff,
family
and
community
Crofton
Elementary
empowers
lifelong
learners
by
using
challenging
and
engaging
instruction
in
a
safe,
respectful
and
culturally
responsive
environment.
This
is
our
new
mission
statement
and
I'm
sure
you
will
agree
that
clearly,
Crofton
elementary
is
your
school.
The
centerpiece
of
our
community,
where
we
all
come
together
to
support
the
positive
growth
of
our
young
people
before
we
go
further
in
the
program.
E
I
want
to
introduce
some
special
guests
who
are
also
a
part
of
our
school
community
and
have
come
here
tonight
to
celebrate
with
us,
Anne
Arundel,
County
Board
of
Education
president
Stacy
cor
black.
Vice
president
patty
Malley
board
member
Teresa
Burge
Superintendent
of
Schools,
dr.
George,
our
lotto.
E
E
She
has
truly
dedicated
in
supporting
the
needs
of
our
teachers
and
encouraging
the
talents
of
our
students
when
I
was
charged
to
lead
this
school
almost
four
years
ago,
I
knew
it
was
a
unique
and
special
opportunity
to
join
an
amazing
community.
It
is
my
privilege
to
serve
the
students
and
families
of
Crofton
and
to
be
a
part
of
this
milestone
in
our
school's
history.
I
would
now
like
to
take
a
brief
moment
to
acknowledge
the
many
people
it
took
to
make
this
happen.
E
E
E
E
E
E
At
the
beginning
of
this
project,
trees
needed
to
be
removed
from
our
property.
A
former
senior
project
manager,
John
Kerr,
with
Jay
Vinton
and
Schaffer,
took
some
of
those
trees
and
created
two
wooden
bowls.
You
see
on
the
stage.
We
are
grateful
for
this
thoughtful
gift
on
behalf
of
Jay
Vinton
and
Shaffer,.
E
Everyone
here
has
been
so
supportive
of
this
project.
I
cannot
fully
express
how
much
your
dedication,
perseverance
and
diligence
means
to
the
work
we
do
for
our
students
with
our
new
mission
and
our
new
building.
You
will
truly
see
the
results
of
your
contributions
at
this
time.
Please
join
me
in
welcoming
to
the
podium
the
president
of
our
Board
of
Education,
mrs.
Stacy
Corr
black.
Thank.
F
F
F
For
46
years
the
school
community
has
been
supporting
our
young
people.
It
is
so
gratifying
to
stand
here
today
as
we
look
forward
to
upholding
the
great
tradition
of
high
achievement
and
strong
family
involvement
here
at
Crofton
Elementary.
Please
enjoy
this
new
space,
and
now
I
would
like
to
welcome
the
Superintendent
of
Schools,
dr.
George,
our
Lotto,
to
the
podium
Thank.
G
You
Stacy:
this
is
wonderful
energy.
This
is
fabulous
for
the
community.
I
think
that
between
the
spit
among
the
speakers
prior
to
me,
I
think
we
thanked
just
about
everybody.
There
is
to
thank,
let
me
add
somebody
that
sort
of
works.
If
you
will,
in
the
shadows,
during
a
project
like
this,
a
long
sort
of
our
jurist
reor
project
and
he
rarely
gets
recognition.
G
Fact
we
don't
let
him
out
of
his
cubicle
much,
but
when
a
principal
as
the
walls
go
up
and
a
principal
and
their
team
have
got
to
select
furniture
and
colors
and
all
those
finishings
they
have
to
work
with
mr.
bill
Hubbard
and
he's
here
and
I
just
want
to
recognize.
They
end
up
bill,
sir.
We
could
see
you
it's
it's
an
incredible
amount
of
work
to
not
only
build
a
building,
but
then
you
got.
H
G
Fill
it
and
I
know
how
much
time
you
have
spent
with
him
and
his
team,
and
they
are
fabulous,
we're
delighted
you're
here,
thank
you
and
so
I
need
to
thank
this
awesome
staff.
This
has
not
been
an
easy
three-year
project.
You
have
an
incredible
principal
you've
got
an
awesome
assistant
principal,
but
this
staff
has
really
stayed
with
us
and
through
all
the
packing
and
unpacking
and
then
packing
and
unpacking
and
packing
and
unpacking
and
packing
and
unpacking
you've
gotten
to
where
you
are
for
this
school
year
and
the
building
looks
fabulous
I.
G
Thank
you
for
sticking
with
us
to
our
parents.
Thank
you
as
well.
I
know
that
it
was
not
easy
for
you
as
things
changed,
doorways
and
comings
and
goings
and
exits
and
entrances
and
I.
Thank
you
for
that
and
last,
but
most
importantly
to
our
students.
You
all
are
a
ACPs
awesome
and
this
is
an
awesome
building.
G
And
so
I
invite
you,
as
you
already
have,
is,
were
five
weeks
into
this
incredible
school
year.
Take
advantage
of
this
building.
This
building
is
for
you.
Thank
you
enjoy
your
time
this
evening.
We're
delighted
that
this
building
is
now
together,
three
years
later
and
I'd
like
to
welcome
mr.
Jerry
Walker,
chair
of
the
County
Council
to
the
podium
thank.
I
You
all
very
much
for
having
us
tonight,
students
and
parents.
Four
and
a
half
years
ago,
it'll
be
five
in
November.
I
was
elected
to
my
first
term
on
the
County
Council
and
one
of
the
first
things
I
did
was
tour
a
number
of
the
schools
in
my
district,
and
this
was
one
of
the
schools
that
I
toured
with
mr.
I
shack,
Nova
CH
and
a
couple
of
other
members
of
the
board
and
I
noticed
right
away
a
couple
things
that
concern
me
and
things
that
made
me
sort
of,
in
my
mind,
want
to
push
this
school
to
the
top
of
the
list
when,
when
he
came
to
funding
and
when
the
budget
came
up,
the
county
executive
at
that
point
had
moved
the
funding
if
you'll
recall
back
in
the
budget.
So
we
were
we're
gonna
be
delayed.
I
We
wouldn't
have
been
here
doing
this
grant
this
opening
tonight,
if
it
hadn't
been
for
three
other
councilmembers
and
myself
voting
to
reorganize
the
budget
and
secure
the
twenty
eight
million
dollars
to
make
this
happen.
So
I.
Thank
that
my
colleagues
on
the
council
for
for
making
that
happen
and
I
am
excited
tonight,
because
this
is
a
beautiful
building
and
I'm
so
excited
for
the
families
for
the
students
for
the
community.
Here.
Thank
you
all
for
coming
out
tonight.
Thank
you
for
having
us.
J
So
kids
I
have
a
citation
most
of
you
think
of
a
citation
from
a
police
officer
because
you're
speeding,
not
that
kind.
This
is
like
a
birthday
card
and
we
have
several
people
who
are
going
to
come
up
with
these
citations
and
it's
and
it
says,
be
it
hereby
known
to
all
that
sincerest
congratulations
are
offered
to
Crofton
elementary
school,
the
staff,
the
students,
the
parents
and
the
grandparents
on
the
occasion
of
your
ribbon-cutting
and
grand
opening
for
your
newly
renovated
facility.
