A
One
question
that
we
often
get
is:
what
does
kindergarten
readiness
look
like
we're
going
to
talk
about
all
of
these
components
and
what
kindergarten
readiness
looks
like
for
your
child,
so
kindergarten
readiness
encompasses
your
child
as
a
whole.
It
truly
means
that
your
child
has
the
knowledge,
skills
and
behaviors
that
allow
them
to
fully
participate
and
succeed
in
school.
A
Literacy
skills
include
speaking
reading
listening
and
writing.
When
your
child
enters
kindergarten,
they
should
be
speaking
clearly
and
be
able
to
listen
to
other
people.
Speak
students
entering
kindergarten
should
understand
stories
that
are
read
to
them.
They
should
know
some
letters
of
the
alphabet,
possibly
the
letters
in
their
name
and
some
letter
sounds.

A
Social
skills
are
very
important
and
a
critical
piece
for
students
to
be
successful
in
kindergarten.
This
means
that
these
our
kindergarten
students
have
the
skills
to
get
along
with
others
and
problem
solve
safely.
If
there
is
an
issue
with
the
peer,
it
is
very
helpful
if
they
can
follow
routines
and
directions
and
listen
to
rules.
A
Physical
well-being
for
kids
entering
kindergarten
means
that
they
should
be
able
to
run
jump
and
climb
stairs
independently.
They
should
be
able
to
button
and
zip
their
own
clothing.
Your
child
should
be
able
to
use
scissors
independently
and
draw
with
pencils
or
crayons.
This
also
means
that
your
child
is
able
to
independently
use
the
bathroom.
