Twenty-six Anne Arundel County Public Schools educators achieved prestigious National Board Certification for the first time and 67 others successfully maintained their certifications, making AACPS’ 2022 class of NBCT educators one of the school system’s largest ever.

AACPS now boasts a total of 360 educators who have earned NBCT status, second among all Maryland school systems. National Board Certified teachers are highly sought after in the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future and can earn an additional $10,000 or more in compensation depending on their work assignment.

“These are educators who have invested the time and effort to better themselves and, in the process, put themselves in a position to invest even more in our students,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell said. “We should all be proud of the work they have done and will continue to do in our classrooms, and we hope that next year’s class is even bigger.”

In a process that can take up to five years, Anne Arundel’s 2022 class successfully completed rigorous assessments with the assistance of a professional development program offered by the school system. Nearly 280 ACPS educators are currently seeking to earn NBCT status.
