A
Hi
I'm
Jodie
Russi,
the
host
for
food-for-thought
and
I'm,
coming

you
from
C
McGee
farms
in
Frankfort
Delaware
and
we're
here
to
celebrate
tasting
of
the
rainbow
and
to
meet
one
of
our
local
farmers.
Each
month
in
Anne,
Arundel
County.
We
offer
a
fresh
fruit
or
vegetable
on
the
first
Friday
to
all
students
who
buy
a
school
lunch.
Let
me
introduce
you
to
one
of
our
local
farmers.
Welcome.
B
To
our
farm,
my
name
is
Charlotte
Magee
and
I'm
owner
of
C

farms
in
conjunction
with
Magee
farms,
grows
a
wide
variety
of
produce.
We
grow
sweet
corn,
watermelons
free
peppers,
tomatoes
just
to
name
a
few.
Thank

I
can't
wait
to

Hi.
C
My
name
is
arianah
from
Germantown
elementary,
a
walnut
school
of
distinction,
and
today
we're
sampling,
roasted
red
beets.
The
red
beet
is
a
root
vegetable,
that's
an
excellent
source
of
vitamin
C
iron
and
magnesium.
The
green
leafy
portion
of
the
beet
can
also
be
eaten.
The
leaves
are
a
rich
source
of
vitamin
C
and
vitamin
A.
Did
you
know
that
the
bright
red
color
pigment
obtained
from
the
beet
is
used
to
improve
the
colors
of
other
foods,
such
as
tomato
face
jams
and
jellies?.
D
Now
I
know
Ariana
hi,
my
name
is
Dylan
and
I'm,
also
from
Germantown
elementary.
There
are
many
ways
that
you
can
prepare
beets.
Today
we
will
be
sampling
beets
that
have
been
roasted
in
the
oven.
They
can
also
be
big
like
a
potato
cut
off,
the
green
tops
scrub.
The
skins
wrap
in
for
you
and
big
beef
can
be
added
to
soups,
stir
fries
and
kabobs.
