A
A
Hey
there
aacps,
my
name
is
Cameron
Sherry
and
welcome
to
teen
talk.
This
is
a
show
for
students
by
students,
and
today's
episode
is
about
students
who
serve
service
is
a
vital
part
of
every
community,
and
today,
we're
joined
by
three
students
who
have
gone
above
and
beyond,
to
give
back
I
want
to
welcome
Gemma,
Caleb
and
Isabel
to
the
studio.
How
are
you
guys
doing
today?
Great?
Thank
you
doing
good
all
right.
So,
let's
get
right
into
it.
Can
you
tell
me
a
little
bit
about
each
of
your
organizations?
Yes,.
B
So
I
co-run
the
nonprofit
organization,
kid
change
makers
with
my
brother
Joshua
and
we
focus
on
combating
food
insecurity,
period,
poverty
and
helping
Foster
youth
in
our
community
and
Beyond,
with
an
emphasis
on
providing
opportunities
for
youth
leaders
to
serve
over
the
last
few
years.
Through
Papa
pantries
and
legislative
initiatives.
We
focused
on
period
poverty
and
diaper
inequality
throughout
Maryland.
C
Is
amazing
a
whole
lot
of
love
is
a
charitable
organization
centered
around
students,
helping
students
not
only
in
Anne
Arundel
County,
but
around
the
country
and
hopefully
someday
around
the
world,
and
we
basically
started
with
raising
money
for
school
supplies
and
we're
working
on
getting
Christmas
presents
to
children
in
need
in
the
Annapolis
community.
A
C
So
not
only
does
the
joy
that
I
see
in
myself
and
my
volunteers
and
the
people
that
were
helping
truly
inspire
me,
but
the
challenge
so
something
that
I
know
that
I
can
solve
if
I
put
my
heart
into
it
and
a
realization
that
kids,
my
age
can
make
a
change
if
we
put
our
hearts
and
Minds
into
it.
This
is
what
really
keeps
me
going.
B
From
a
young
age,
I
was
addicted
to
science
and
I.
One
of
my
heroes
was
Jane
Goodall
and
her
organization
I
learned
about
her
organization
roots
and
shoots
when
I
was
in
elementary
school,
a
philanthropic
organization
helping
the
environment
and
people
in
general
and
I
wanted
to
serve
and
kid
change
makers
evolved
from
me
pursuing
that
passion
for
service
and
creating
my
own
opportunities
to
expand
my
service
I'm,
also
inspired
by
my
parents.
They
supported
me
through
my
service
journey
and
helped
me
Foster
my
passion
and
keep
moving
forward.
A
A
B
I
think
kid
change
maker,
specifically
as
a
youth-led
organization.
Something
unique
about
us
is
our
longevity.
We've
been
around
for
almost
a
decade
now
and
our
commitment
to
serving
the
those
in
need
throughout
the
community
and
throughout
Maryland
through
legislative
legislative
work.
We
help
through
testimony
push
through
Senate
Bill
316
last
session,
removing
taxes
on
diapers
in
Maryland
and
yeah.
So
our
impact
and
our
longevity
definitely.
C
B
I
was
around
seven
when
we
I
started
kid
change
makers,
initiatives,
yeah,
wow,.
D
I
was
technically
15
when
I
started
writing
the
blog,
but
then,
when
we
actually
formed
the
business,
I
was
16..
That's.
A
So
cool,
so
you
can
be
any
age
right,
there's
no
age
restriction
to
start
getting
involved
and
to
start
something
really
amazing
in
your
community.
Definitely
that
is
so
awesome,
so
kind
of
getting
back
on
track.
What
is
your
main
priority
and
goal
that
you
want
to
accomplish
through
your
organization,
so.
D
For
perfectly
potsy,
it's
making
sure
that
every
person
with
an
invisible
illness
or
just
in
general
is
heard,
and
they
know
that
they
have
a
space
that
they
can
come
and
share
their
story
and
not
feel
like
they're
being
judged
at
all
and
trying
to
definitely
spread
awareness
for
pots
and
other
invisible
illnesses
that
don't
have
a
lot
of
funding
or
awareness
about
them.
Just
because
there's
not
a
whole
lot
of
knowledge
about
it.
B
A
C
Well,
right
now
we're
working
on
an
Angel
Tree
project,
which
is
basically
getting
Christmas,
presents
to
kids
that
are
in
need,
and
last
year
I
think
we
helped
a
hundred
families,
and
that
was
just
amazing,
because
these
kids
were
getting
to
see
these
things
that
they've
been
asking
for
for
like
months,
they
were
like
so
excited.
It
was
just
amazing
to
see
the
happiness
on
their
faces
that
we,
as
students,
could
bring
to
these
people
and
that
it's
possible
just
as
students
to
do
that.
B
Countries
we've
worked
in
Papa
pantries
for
the
last
two
or
three
years
consistently
every
week
and
we've
provided
over
hundreds
of
thousands
of
diapers
throughout
our
community
and
just
working
with
so
many
amazing
individuals
to
provide
for
all
of
Anne
Arundel
county
is
wonderful.
B
Nothing
happens
in
a
vacuum
if
we
want
to
make
the
world
a
better
place,
it's
the
collective
that
needs
to
step
up
and
not
the
individual.
B
C
So
pretty
much
what
these
two
are
saying
as
well:
a
lot
of
people
see
issues
in
their
Community
you'll,
say:
oh,
how
sad
or
they'll
complain,
but
they
won't
do
anything
to
fix
it.
But
a
lot
of
people
don't
realize
that
it
is
possible
to
fix
these
problems.
If
we
put
our
hearts
and
Minds
into
it
and
as
students
we
have
the
ability
to
make
a
change
in
our
communities,
and
if
we
do
that,
then
that's
just
the
goal
of
our
entire
Mission
and
it
would
be
amazing
to.
A
See
so
that's
some
really
inspiring
stuff.
You
guys
are
some
true
rock
stars.
I
want
to
thank
Gemma,
Caleb
and
Isabella.
So
much
for
joining
me
today
we
come
back
we'll
talk
to
Miss
Valor
to
learn
more
about
serving
in
the
county,
but
first,
let's
take
a
look
at
what
service
means
to
the
student
service
leadership
team.
What
does
service
mean
to
you.
E
In
my
case,
I
really
have
a
big
passion
for
art
and
I've
been
able
to
use
that
passion
to
give
back
whether
it's
through
making
green
cards
or
packaging
food
box
to
make
them
look
really
pretty
I.
Think
it's
just
a
fun
way
to
use
your
passion
not
only
to
make
yourself
happy
but
to
make
others
happy
as
well.
F
Really
something
that
we
don't
think
about,
but
we
do
serve
people
every
day
in
different
ways
by
just
like
picking
up
trash
on
the
floor
or
just
saying
hello
to
someone.
So
service
really
is
all
of
the
things
the
little
and
the
big
things
to
help
other
people.
It's.
G
Making
a
positive
impact
in
your
community,
whether
that
be
raising
awareness
for
a
certain
organization
or
just
working
with
your
Community
Partners
or
your
school's
service
clubs,
for
an
example
and
creating
that
meaningful
change
just
really
brings
out
and
exemplifies
what
service.
Just
the
term.
H
But
really
just
the
feeling
that
you
get
when
you
go
out
in
the
community,
and
you
see
yourself
making
like
a
tangible
difference
on
lives,
no
matter
how
small
the
effect
might
be,
just
knowing
that
you
have
that
impact
and
that
influence
on
making
something
better
again,
no
matter
how
big
or
small
the
boundaries
might
be.
When.
I
You
do
engage
with
the
community
connect,
you
just
learn
so
many
things
about
life.
You
could
go
through
different
perspectives
and
different
lessons
through
the
people
you
help
or
the
people
you
work
with,
and
another
great
thing
about
service
is
just
such
a
positive
way
to,
like
you
know,
engage
your
energies
or
like
even
some
of
like
your
negative
emotions
and
like
by
engaging
in
service.
Here.
It's
like
a
great
way
to
like
promote
your
own
personal
wellness
and
having
that
connection
with
your
community
I.
K
K
Cara
and
I
went
to
get
the
supplies
with
the
grant
that
I
received
and
then
just
had
so
many
kids
do
service
learning
for
the
first
time
in
school,
like
people
who
didn't
have
ever
logged
into
the
service
learning
Portal
had
now
like
logged
in
and
to
do
this
for
shelters
thing
and
then
I
got
to
drive
to
the
dog,
shelter
and
drop
off
and
like
meet
the
dogs.
It
was
just
a
such
a
good
experience.
F
H
E
Started
with
the
portal,
so
I
also
have
to
contribute
the
portal
a
lot
to
the
to
all
the
connections
that
I've
made
like
through
the
portal
and
even
through
my
own
research
I
found
so
many
organizations
that
I
never
knew
existed
and
I
never
really
knew
before
that.
There
were
so
many
non-profits
willing
to
go
out
and
help
people,
and
now
that,
since
I've
involved
myself
in
service
learning,
more
I
feel
like
an
actual
active
member
of
my
community
before
I
got
involved.
E
K
Big
part
of
it
has
been
this
group.
I
I,
don't
really
know
anyone
from
any
other
schools,
maybe
a
couple
from
South
River,
but
now
like
I,
know
a
lot
more
people
from
all
over
the
county
and
throughout
all
the
service
that
I've
done
over
the
my
years
of
high
school
I've
met.
So
many
people
like
it's
so
I
got
people
I
would
have
never
met
if
I
didn't
have
get
involved
in
service
learning
or
the
leadership
team.
I.
F
Was
able
to
meet
so
many
driven
individuals
and
before
going
on
to
the
portal
and
doing
volunteer
opportunities,
I,
don't
think
I
would
have
realized
how
many
dedicated
people
are
in
our
community
and
through
serving
I've
really
learned
and
got
to
meet
so
many
interesting
people.
People
who,
like
dropped
their
whole
lives
to
start
organizations,
Elders
veterans,
parents,
kids
and
as
a
student.
Sometimes
you
get
stuck
in
the
same
Social,
Circle
or
group
of
people.
I
I
What's
going
on
with
their
Community
to
develop
these
different
projects
like
for
for
a
winter
clothing
drive,
you
have
to
look
at
the
fact
that
we're
having
such
Rising
populations
of
homeless
individuals
without
proper
clothing
and
Us,
by
connecting
with
our
community,
allowed
us
to
develop
that
service
project
and
like
numerous
different
projects
like
that
so
I
think,
like
the
leadership
team,
really
taught
me
the
importance
of
looking
towards
your
community
and
looking
at
the
problems
that
exist
to
see
how
you
can
bring
change
the.
G
Leadership
team,
the
portal,
the
my
schools
service
club
and
all
of
these
organizations
that
I've
worked
for
definitely
expanded.
My
knowledge
of
things
that
are
happening
in
the
world
and
connected
with
connected
me
to
a
lot
of
people
who
shared
my
interests.
So
it's
really
amazing
how
I
could
use
all
these
mediums
to
just
figure
out
that
there
is
more
to
the
world
than
the
four
buildings
that
make
up
my
school
I
think
the.
J
Sir
I
think
service
has
connected
me
with
the
community
because
it
has
previously
previously
I
did
not
know
how
to
volunteer
in
the
in
the
community
and
I
thought.
Service
Learning
was
a
good
opportunity
for
me
to
talk
to
others
and
meet
new
people
and
I
I've
used
it
to
help
others
and
make
a
difference.
Welcome.
A
Back
to
teen
talk,
I'm
joined
by
Miss
Fowler,
the
manager
of
service
learning
and
mentorships
for
aacps.
How
are
you
today,
Miss
Valley
I'm,
doing
really?
Well,
thanks
Cameron?
How
are
you
I'm
great
I'm,
very
happy
you're
here
in
the
studio
with
us
today?
So
let's
get
started
here.
What
does
service
look
like
here
in
Ann,
Arbor,
County.
L
So
for
Anne
Arundel
County,
we
fall
under
the
Maryland
state
department
of
education
requirements
for
service
learning,
so
all
students
must
earn
75
hours
of
service
learning
in
order
to
graduate
so
it's
one
of
their
graduation
requirements.
They
start
in
fifth
grade
doing
a
service
learning
project.
Sometimes
it's
the
drum
proofing
project,
sometimes
it'll
be
with
Arlington
Echo,
where
they
get
five
hours
and
then
each
year
after
that
they
get
10
hours
with
two
20
of
those
hours
being
in
11th
grade.
L
L
L
There's
different
ways
to
look
at
those
projects,
so
in
our
in
our
middle
schools,
a
lot
of
the
students
do
different
projects,
kind
of
that
are
around
their
Community,
sometimes
it'll
be
a
school
cleanup.
Sometimes
it
will
be
a
coat
drive,
helping
out
with
happy
helpers
for
the
homeless,
were
they
maybe
bringing
in
food
or
creating
blessing
bags
a
lot
of
different
projects
and
those
are
the
ones
that
they
have
for
their
required.
Service
Learning,
the
service
learning
leadership
team.
L
Even
a
couple
of
the
middle
schools
brought
in
over
800
coats
and
those
coats
went
to
three
different
organizations,
one
in
Baltimore
City
and
two
in
Anne,
Arundel
County,
so
really
making
an
impact
on
our
community.
So
that
was
fantastic.
Last
year
we
did
project
Healthcare,
Heroes
and
project
Healthcare
Heroes.
We
made
boxes
for
those
who
are
working
in
healthcare
since
we
had
the
pandemic
and
they
were,
you
know,
we're
just
working
overtime,
oftentimes
and
working
with
people
who
were
critically
ill.
We
believe
that
they
really
deserved
a
special
thank
you.
L
So
when
those
blessing
bags
we
put
some
goodies,
we
put
things
like
notepads
and
special
cards,
saying
thank
you.
So
we
were
able
to
create
175
of
those
and
they
went
to
Baltimore
Washington
Medical
Center
and
to
Anne
Arundel,
so
they
were
very
appreciative
of
them.
So
those
were
two
examples
of
two
different
projects
that
we've
done.
That's.
L
L
What
that
is
yeah,
so
one
thing
that
we
really
believe
is
that
we
should
have
student
voice
from
around
the
county,
so
the
student
service
learning
leadership
team
was
created
in
2020
as
a
way
to
get
students
still
talking
about
service,
even
though
we
were
virtually
learning.
So
we
have
students
from
all
14
high
schools,
and
we
include
the
Virtual
Academy
in
that,
so
they
come.
We
come
together
once
a
month
discuss
what's
happening
at
their
schools,
share
out
different
things
that
we
can.
You
know
best
sharing
best
practices.
L
What
is
your
key
Club
doing?
What
is
your
interact
doing?
What
are
your
sports
teams
doing?
Kind
of
just
so?
We
can
hear
what's
happening
and
bring
that
back
to
our
school,
their
own
schools.
So
it's
really
great
and
then
they
also
have
opportunities
to
grow
as
Leaders,
it's
oftentimes
the
students
who
are
running
the
meetings-
it's
not
me,
I'm,
just
there
facilitating.
So
they
get
an
opportunity
to
maybe
do
the
opener
or
connect
with
the
different
Community
Partners
to
share
out
some
different
projects
that
the
students
can
be
involved
in.
L
County,
so
there's
a
lot
of
different
ways.
So
most
almost
all
of
our
high
schools
have
some
type
of
a
service
Club,
be
it
interact
or
do
something.
Sometimes
even
an
avid
leadership
Club
will
have
it.
I
know:
Arundel
High
School
has
a
group
called
Arundel
serves
so
get
involved
in
a
service
club.
That
would
be.
The
first
thing
is
really
find
find
ways
to
engage
at
the
local
level
like
right
at
your
school
and
then
from
there.
L
If
you
really
enjoy
it
look
into
student
leadership,
or
you
know
you
can
follow
us
on
Twitter
and
see
some
of
the
things
that
are
happening.
We
also
do
have
a
service
learning
portal,
so
the
portal
allows
you
to
go
in
and
this
is
for
high
school
only
to
go
in
and
actually
look
at
a
list
of
things
sometimes
up
to
a
hundred
different
opportunities
that
students
can
get
involved
in.
So
they
can
pick
things
from
there
and
then
that
portal
will
actually
hold
their
hours
for
them
and
build
a
resume.
L
So
it's
a
really
good
way
to
get
involved
because
things
in
our
portal
are
all
around
County
and
even
some
are
virtual.
So
you
know
something
for
everyone.
If
you're
not
wanting
to,
you
know,
go
out
and
do
a
direct
service
face
to
face
with
those
you're
serving
and
you
prefer
to
make
PSAs
or
prefer
social
media
posts.
You
can
do
an
advocacy
project,
so
I
really
love
it
that
it
has
a
wide
variety
of
ways
for
students
to
get
involved.
So.
L
Leadership
team,
oh
so
we
have
so
many
so
right
now
we're
hovering
right
around
85,
Community
Partners,
and
they
are
all
around
our
our
County,
which
is
fantastic.
Some
of
the
ones
that
we
are
very
involved
with
one
would
be
Bella
McCree,
which
has
its
headquarters
in
Glen
Burnie,
and
they
serve
adults
with
disabilities
by
providing
them
homes
to
live
in
outside
of
their
family
home
so
that
they
can
have
a
more
independent
lifestyle.
So
some
of
the
projects
we
do
for
them
would
include
providing
Thanksgiving
baskets
going
and
helping
out
with
their
their
yards.
L
We've
even
had
some
students
create
Rock
Gardens,
do
chalk
walking
chalk
like
chucking
their
walk,
and
then
they
also
have
a
big
fundraiser
every
year,
with
a
walk
at
Anne,
Arundel,
Community
College.
So
we've
had
some
students
involved
in
that,
which
is
great.
We
also
work
with
happy
helpers
for
the
homeless,
which
is
an
organization
up
in
right
on
the
Baltimore
City
Line
and
they're,
the
woman
who
runs
it
her
name's,
Miss
Bobby,
and
she
just
loves
when
our
students
come
to
help.
She
loves
the
energy
that
they
bring
and
what
they
do.
L
L
So
every
week
she
serves
serves
those
people
and
then
she
also
has
a
project
where
every
weekend
so
this
woman
gives
herself
gives
of
herself
and
our
students
are
there
right
alongside
her,
she
makes
month
they
make
lunches
and
they
take
them
out
on
the
street
of
Baltimore
and
give
them
to
people
experiencing
homelessness
up
there.
So
we
just
love
happy
helpers
for
the
homeless,
another
there's
Gigi's
Playhouse,
which
is
right
in
Annapolis.
You
may
may
know
of
that.
L
I
know
we
have
some
of
the
students
who
are
very
active
at
Gigi's
and
it's
a
Down
syndrome,
achievement
Center,
so
you
might
be
able
to
go
and
and
have
a
dance
party
with
teens
your
age
and
just
really
bring
out
the
joy
and
excitement
of
togetherness
for
for
people
with
learning
differences.
So
it's
a
it's
a
really
wonderful
organization
and
we're
so
happy
to
have
them
as
partners
with
with
our
school.
We
also
have
many
of
our
community
schools
that
partner
with
us
as
well.
L
So
one
of
the
programs
that
I
really
love
is
called
senior
senior
and
it's
a
way
that
we
really
try
to
work
on
supporting
literacy
while
Bridging
the
intergenerational
Gap.
So
with
what
we
have
is
our
very
youngest
Learners.
So
our
Pre-K
to
second
grade
working
with
high
school
seniors,
so
they'll
come
in
and
read
with
them
or
play
games
and
then
also
see
what
we
call
Seasoned
seniors.
We
kind
of
Target
45
Plus
in
age.
L
So
we
have
the
youngest
learner,
her
the
seniors
in
high
school
and
then
the
senior
citizens
that
come
and
they're
able
to
to
read
with
the
children
and
just
really
work
on
discourse
and
happiness.
And
that's
something
that
if,
if
you
are
a
senior
who
has
partial
schedule,
you're
able
to
go
down
to
the
elementary
school
and
actually
immerse
yourself
in
their
learning,
which
is
just
fantastic.
That's.
A
I
have
a
question:
okay,
this
might
be
very
hard
to
answer
so
I
apologize.
Can
you
pick
one
or
two
projects
that
are
your
all-time
favorite,
that
you
and
your
team
have
completed.
L
Oh,
my
goodness,
it's
so
hard!
Well,
I,
guess
the
way
that
I
can
say
it
is
our.
We
have
a
summer
summer,
like
a
summer
camp,
it's
called
up
to
par
and
we
have
a
middle
school.
One
called
take
action
and
a
high
school
one
called
AB
de
par
and
I
would
say.
That's
probably
my
two
favorite
weeks
of
the
of
the
year
as
far
as
work
is
concerned,
because
I
get
to
go
out
and
be
involved
in
so
many
different
organizations.
L
So
it's
students
coming
together,
learning
about
service
learning
about
our
organizations
and
then
going
out
taking
action
and
being
a
change,
so
that
would
have
to
be
it
like.
Last
year
we
went
to
discoveries
library
at
the
mall
and
talked
about
the
voice
voice
of
Youth
and
how
it
is
so
such
a
strong
voice
and
we
went
to
Marshall
hope
to
work
at
a
food
pantry.
L
We
worked
with
walk
the
walk,
Foundation
wrapping
diapers,
so
I
think
that
would
have
to
be
it
I
mean
it's
kind
of
a
cheat
on
my
end
because
you
said
a
project,
but
it
would
have
to
be
our
summer
camps
because
they're
just
spectacular
and
we
even
had
students
this
year
that
were
like.
We
don't
want
this
week
to
end
so
I
think
that's
it.
You
know
bringing
bringing
joy
to
kids.
Making
them
see
that
service
is
it's
wonderful,
it
makes
you
feel
wonderful,
it
makes
others
feel
wonderful.
You
have
a
good
time.
A
Well,
thank
you
so
much
for
being
here
today,
Miss
Fowler
I
want
to
give
a
special
thank
you
to
everyone
who
joined
me
today
and
to
everyone
who
actively
serves
in
their
Community.
Remember
if
you're
watching
this
at
home,
it
is
never
too
late
to
get
involved.
You
can
find
out
more
about
serving
in
Anne
Arundel
County
on
the
at
serve
aaco.
Instagram
also
remember
to
follow
a
CPS
team
talk
for
updates
and
opportunities
to
be
featured
in
The,
Next,
Episode,
I,
hope
everyone
has
a
safe
and
happy
winter
break.
