great
partners

decades,

decades

We
hauled
off
over
42
000
cubic
yards
of
debris,
filled,
30,
000,
sandbags
and
even
without
power
across
the
city
had
no
major
water
or
Wastewater
issues
and
hurricane
Nicole
didn't
affect
us
at
all.
Thanks
to
the
men
and
women
of
the
Public
Services
Department
for
planning
and
executing
a
well
thought
out
plan,
without
their
help,
we
might
have
had
some
some
issues.
A
like
a
lot
of
the
other
municipalities
in
this
area.

I'd
also
like
to
give
you
a
snapshot
of
our
overall
accomplishments
that
were
achieved
over
the
last
four
years.
With
the
help
of
my
city,
council
and
I
hope
that
you
will
be
impressed,
we
have
hired
80
Public
Service
public
safety
personnel,
33,
city-wide
positions,
replace
seven
leaky,
roofs
restored,
eight
parking
lots
and
resurfaced
27
miles
of
Roads
we've
added
252
new
streetlight
LEDs
and
upgraded
almost
a
thousand
street
lights
to
LED.
E
E
Which
gives
us
almost
3
million
dollars
a
year
to
add
to
our
our
regular
budget
that
we
can
spend
on
those
priorities
that
we
find
needed
with
technology
improvements?
We
found
over
two
million
dollars
in
additional
user
fees
with
a
lot
of
that
coming
from
a
sophisticated
Medicare
and
ambulance
billing
service.
E
We've
also
doubled
our
Reserves
from
6.6
million
to
almost
17
million
dollars
and
have
put
into
place
a
25
Reserve
policy
allow
the
help
with
commissioner
Banks
and
at
the
time
I
know
it
was
a
priority
for
him
and
we
think
it
was
a
priority
for
the
cities
that
we
have
now
have
a
25
Reserve
policy
and
we're
almost
at
30
percent
reserves
here
in
the
city
of
Apopka.
So
a
lot
to
be
proud
of.
So
when
that
big
hurricane
comes
next
time,
we'll
have
the
Reserves
to
to
fund
those
improvements.

Now,
some
of
the
budget
highlights
for
2022-23
we've
increased
our
tax
base
by
917
million
dollars,
providing
three
million
dollars
in
additional
property
tax.
We've
added
18
new
firefighters,
One,
Division,
chief
of
training,
13
additional
positions
across
the
other
departments
and
two
Public
Safety
Vehicles,
two
ambulances,
one
fire
truck
and
17
police
vehicles
for
our
dollars
and
cents
revenues
and
spending
taxes
are
up.
Almost
43
percent
make
up
almost
43
of
our
budget.

We
are
so
excited
to
be
able
to
provide
them
a
brand
new
home
and
so
I
can't
wait
to
to
get
that
started
yeah.
Yes,
we
have
also
received
over
a
million
dollars
to
add
additional
sidewalks
to
our
CRA,
filling
in
gaps
that
have
been
never
completed,
along
with
the
sidewalks
we're
going
out
to
bid
or
two
miles
of
10
foot
walking
trail
at
a
cost
of
about
two
million
dollars
working
alongside
representative
Placencia.

We
were
able
to
get
a
piece
of
legislation
in
the
last
year's
legislative
session
that
will
allow
restaurants
in
the
CRA,
with
seating
of
80,
to
serve
adult
beverages,
giving
them
additional
Revenue
to
survive.
This
tough
economic
climate,
One
restaurant
that
is
already
capitalizing
on
this
creative
incentive,
is
Tacos
Don
Pepe.

on
South
Park,
they're

going
to
take
advantage
of
that

and
we
hope
to
see,
they've
already
got
the
expansion
in
in
just
waiting

permits

a

and
see
them
we've.
Also
in
the
design
phase,
just
passed
in
the
Council
on
Wednesday
night
wayfaring
signs
that
will
help
our
visitors
locate
our
community
buildings
without
throughout
the
city.

have
completed
the
request
for
proposal
for
our
Station
Street
project
and
are
excited
to
see
the
transformation
of
historic,
downtown.
Tony
binge
and
his
team
have
an
exciting
vision
for
this.
A
three
acre
City
parcel
and
we
are
thrilled
to
be
his
partner
now
I'd
like
to
shift
gears
and
talk
about
the
accomplishments
of
our
Public
Services
Department,
with
the
opening
of
The
Kelly
Park
K-8
school,
which
we're
going
to
hopefully
get
out
here,
quick
enough
and
get
over
there
for
their
their
ribbon.

E
Our
Solid
Waste
Department
continues
to
impress
our
citizens
with
their
commitment
and
reliability
to
our
city.
We
collected
over
40
000
tons
of
waste,
almost
2
000
tons
of
recycling.
Our
city
council
approved
a
million
dollars
from
the
cares
act
to
buy
three
new
garbage
trucks
that
were
reduced
to
to
Rubble
in
the
fire
several
months
ago.
But
by
doing
that,
it
reduced
the
rate
increase.
It
would
have
been
necessary
to
balance
the
solid
waste
budget.

We
spent
almost
three
hundred
thousand
dollars
to
repair
the
drainage
pipe
under
the
Frank
Carlton
building
and
parking
lot
completed
the
resurfacing
of
the
parking
lot
and
reinforced
the
foundation
of
the
building.
Our
nutrient,
reducing
baffle
box
on
dream.
Lake
continues
to
help
reduce
nutrient
pollutants
getting
into
the
lake
and
we
hope
to
receive
an
additional
Grant
to
finish
the
other
two
baffle
boxes.

We
have
swept
more
than
2
400
miles
of
curb
streets
and
will
convert
all
of
our
city
buildings
to
the
LED
saving
over
a
hundred
thousand
dollars
in
energy
and
maintenance
costs
per
year.
We
rejuvenated
the
parking
lots
at
City
Hall
fire
station,
one
Annex
Building
Clinic
public
services
and
the
police
station.

We
now
have
both
Golden
Gym
reclaimed
ponds,
completed
with
a
capacity
of
350
million
gallons
of
storage,
giving
us
the
ability
to
to
irrigate
grass
without
having
to
pull
it
out
of
the
aquifer.
We've
completed
two
one
million
gallon
Aquifer
recharge
ponds
and
a
storm
water
retention
pond
at
a
cost
of
2.78
million
dollars.

These
body
cams
will
automatically
turn
on
when
the
siren
goes
on
or
if
the
officer
leaves
the
car
in
partnership
with
the
sheriff's
office,
we
are
placing
cameras
and
license
plate
readers
in
South
Apopka,
and
we
are
pla,
replace
we're
replacing
additional
cameras
and
license
plate
readers
throughout
Apopka.
This
new
system
will
allow
business
owners,
schools
and
residents
to
voluntary
connect,
they're
outside
cameras
to
our
system,
giving
our
Police
Department
unbelievable
technology
at
their
fingertips,
helping
them
to
solve
crimes.

We
have
completed
our
needs
assessment
for
the
public
safety
building
and
we'll
be
going
out
to
design
in
the
next
few
months.
The
public
safety
building
will
house
fire
station
one,
as
well
as
the
administration,
the
Police
Department
dispatch
and
I.T.
This
50-plus
million
dollar
building
will
be
the
crown
jewel
of
Apopka
and
will
be
situated
on
the
current
Police
Department
property.

Here
are
some

the
community
events

APD
put
on
for
our
community,
including
Shop,
with
a
cop
helping
185
kids
to
have
a
Merry
Christmas
cops
and
bobbers
National
Night
Out
crossing
guard
recognition,
cookies
and
milk
with
a
cop
best
foot
forward
and
the
exciting
Special
Olympics
torch
run.

After
the
tragic
loss
of
firefighter
Austin
Duran,
we
have
implemented
the
Austin
Duran
safety
initiative,
which
will
do
the
following
begin.
A
formal
mentorship
program
create
a
safety
concern,
reporting
form
we've
hired
Gannon
emergency
solutions
to
perform
a
health
and
safety
review.
We've
created
a
full-time
division
chief
of
training
committed
a
full-time
division
Chief
whose
role
is
life,
safety
and
health,
and
we've
completed
all
the
diesel
exhaust
systems
for
all
our
apparatus
within
the
city.

We
take
our
safety
series
here
in
Apopka,
fire
station's
six
pad
site
is
completed
and
the
design
phase
is
nearly
100
complete
and
vertical.
Construction
will
start
soon.
With
the
help
from
former
state
representative
Kamia
Brown
and
former
state
senator
Randolph
racy,
they
helped
us
secure
one
million
dollars
for
that
fire
station
and
we
couldn't
have
done
it
without
them.

We
had
the
harman
Road
Extension
groundbreaking,
making
the
fire
station
and
the
hospital
more
accessible.
We
also
partnered
with
Parks
and
Rec,
and
lived
for
Bree
to
instruct
children
about
water
safety
at
our
camp.

the
Year

of
the

and

we

city

students

skills
to
compete
in
the
workplace
and
our
Apopka
youth
Council
has
just
set
up
and
running
with
students
from
Apopka
and
Wekiva
High
School
learning
about
what
what
it
takes
to
make
a
difference
in
the
city
of
Apopka.

Our
Northwest
Recreational
Complex
was
busy
hosting

355
participants,
which
included
little
league
soccer
flag,
football,
basketball,
lacrosse,
volleyball,
Pop,
Warner,
adult
softball
and
basketball.
What
a
great
venue

we
have
here
in
Apopka,
our
Athletic
Complex
complex,
hosted
77
tournaments
with
38
500
participants
as
we
move
into
the
spring.
We
need
your
help
to
determine
what
additional
amenities
we
want
at
our
Northwest
Park.
So
please

us
determine
what
is
important
to
you
and
your
families.

Our
city
council
funded
the
repavement
of
the
entire
Cemetery,
so
has
everybody
been
to
the
the
cemetery
after
we've?
Had
it
repaved
what
an
impressive
difference
it's
made.
So
I
want

thank
the
council
that
they

that
a
priority
that
our
cemeteries
roadways
needed.
Major
improvements,
but
we're
also
doing
is
we're
adding
a
columbarium,
and
we
should
be
going
to
to
bid
on
that
here
in
the

the
near
future,
giving
us
other
options
for
to
taking
care
of
your
loved
ones.

now
have
both
digital

active
and
producing
content
for
our
residents
and
visitors
alike.

have
also
funded

000
for
floor
sealing
and
kitchen
improvements
at
the
Frank
Carlton
building.
We
have
partnered
with

from
agristarts

gardening
at
Northwest
to
complement
an
all-inclusive

calling

near
future
are
bee
climbing

world-class
rock

facility

South
Park,

be

to

tournaments
right

Apopka.

Area
fire
suppression
systems
relocating
to
Apopka,
with
the
potential
of
hiring
up
to
40
Engineers,
along
with
a
manufacturing
component.

like
Starbucks
in
the
Brew
Theory
Food
Hall
are
scheduled
to
start
construction
before
the
new
year.
The
retaining
wall
for
the
new
Winn-Dixie
is
almost
complete
and
the
building
should
begin
sometime
early
next
year.

to
see
either
come
into.

into
town.

near
the
Plymouth
Sorrento

has
begun
with
land
clearing

scheduled

the

wait
to
