Description
News segments featuring people and events in Arlington County, VA
A
B
Photo
read
program
is
the
name
of
the
red
light
camera
program
in
arlington
county
that
captures
vehicles
running
red
lights
in
arlington.
We
have
four
cameras
installed.
They
are
at
the
intersections
of
lee
highway
and
lynn
street
fort
myer
and
lee
highway,
fairfax
drive
and
glebe
road
and
lee
highway
in
washington
boulevard.
This
camera
system
is
not
a
secret.
We
publicize
the
installation
of
the
cameras
and
their
activation,
because
the
primary
focus
behind
the
photo
read
program
is
to
make
intersections
in
the
county
safer,
not
to
generate
revenue.
B
We
are
approved
by
the
state
of
Virginia
to
have
up
to
20
intersections,
but
it
would
take
a
long
time
period
before
that
would
happen
after
someone
violates
a
red
light.
The
camera
takes
a
picture
of
the
vehicle
and
the
owner
of
the
vehicle,
whether
it's
a
commercial
vehicle
or
just
a
person
in
their
own
vehicle,
receives
the
violation
in
the
mail
and
includes
a
picture
of
their
car.
The
fee
for
the
violation
is
a
flat
fifty
dollar
fee
and
it
is
considered
a
civil
violation.
B
It's
not
reported
to
your
insurance
company
or
carry
any
DMV
points.
The
installation
of
the
cameras
was
paid
for
by
the
company
that
runs
the
cameras,
American
Traffic
Solutions.
Once
the
cameras
start
their
activation
period,
the
county
will
pay
a
monthly
rental
fee,
and
most
of
that
is
that
will
fully
be
paid
by
the
violator
fees.
We
have
an
extensive
amount
of
information
on
the
police
department
website
at.
