Description
A segment of AVN's monthly magazine show, "Here/now", this segment features a preview of a one of a kind event taking place in August at Lubber Run Park -- "The Odd World of Scopitones." Host Tara Miles interviews Mary Briggs of Arlington Cultural Affairs, who takes us on a tour of some of the wildest music videos we've ever seen.

That
originated
in
France
and
they
would
do
low-budget.
I
mean
I'm
talking
about
low
production
value
videos
and
they
were
on
I
believe
it
would
have
been
18
millimeter
films
and
that
had
a
special
jukebox,
where
you
could
actually
hear
the
tune
and
watch
these
little
video
clips.
It
started
in
France,
it
kind
of
went
around
Europe
and
Spain,
and
Italy
eventually
made
its
way
to
the
United
States,
and
this
was
all
in
the
early
60s.
When
most
of
these
are
produced,
a
lot
were
producing
United,
States
and
I.
Think
eventually,
the
technology
just
kind.
A
B
So
we
we
were
able
to
find
some
pictures
of
the
old
jukeboxes,
but
haven't
actually
seen
one
apparently
a
while
back
the
Brooklyn
Museum
did
in
New.
York
did
a
big
scope
at
own
exhibition
with
some
of
the
actual
machines,
so
they
do
exist.
But
from
what
we
could
tell
from
our
reading
in
our
research,
was
it's
just
exactly
what
you
said:
you'd
go.
You
look
through
the
menu
at
the
club
or
the
you
know,
restaurant
or
wherever
you
were,
and
you
would
hear
the
tune
and
then
on
the
screen.
It
looked.

What
we're
going
to
do
at
lubber
run
is
mix
up
the
show
a
little
bit
we'll
show
some
similar
to
the
kind
of
60s
pop
music
and
we're
going
to
mix
it
up
with
some
that
were
in
a
collection.
We
ultimately
ended
up
buying
a
collection
of
scope,
atones
off
of
some
strange
guy,
who
probably
does
it
in
his
basement
in
France,
and
there
were
some
very
interesting
historic
clips.
The
Delta
Rhythm
Boys
was
one
that
we
mentioned,
which
were
just
straight-up
nightclub
performances
from
this
old
R&B
group
that
were
just
exquisite.
Can
we.
A
C
A
B
Eight
or
830,
probably
about
8
30
that
time
of
year
and
will
show
you
know
the
show
will
be
about
an
hour
hour
and
15
minutes
and
we've
culled
out
ones.
We
think
will
be
interesting
mix
them
up
a
little
bit
and
there'll
be
a
little
bit
of
entertainment,
a
little
bit
of
talking
mobile
narrative
in
between
to
make
it
a
nice
shine
and
make
it
out
there.
