A
Around

we
like
to
celebrate
and
honor
our
entrepreneurs
and
we'll
tell
you
about
some
of
the
many
resources
we
offer
to
small
business
owners
later
in
our
program.
But
first,
the
county
board
adopted
a
1.2
billion
dollar
general
fund
budget
for
fiscal
year.
Twenty
seventeen
that
includes
a
half-cent
cut
in
the
real
estate
tax
rate.
The
budget
also
provides
more
funding
for
public
schools.
Investment
in
economic
development,
supporting
public
safety
and

housing

A
Civic
engagement
has
long
been
at
the
heart
of
arlington,
and
now
it's
easier
than
ever
before,
for
you
to
make
a
difference
in
your
community
and
find
ways
to
get
involved
on
our
new
engaged
arlington
website.
You
can
now
also
get
full-time
help.

A
B
We
all
think
about
big
businesses
all
the
time
we
see
their
signs,
the
top
large
office
buildings
in
our
Metro
corridors
and
so
forth,
but
sometimes
we
don't
think
of
the
small
businesses
we
patronize
on
columbia,
pike,
lee
highway,
bleeb
road
on
a
day
to
day
basis,
and
I
felt
that
it
was
important
that
we
show
our
appreciation
for
small
businesses
in
arlington
and
cement,
the
partnership
that
we
so
value
with
that
community.
Small
businesses
have
a
correct,
correctly,
attributed
reputation
for
being
very
friendly
and
open.
B
They
want
the
business
they're
going
to
bend
over
backwards
in
terms
of
service
and
they
provide
a
huge
economic
driver
for
Arlington
jobs,
payrolls
economic
life.
What
is
unique
about
today's
event
is
that
our
small
businesses
are
getting
on-site,
counseling
and
assistance
from
a
volunteer.
This
is
important.
Volunteer
group
of
lawyers,
accountants,
our
county
permitting
and
approvals
folks
are
here
so
that
direct
assistance
today,
and
we
want
to
hear
back
from
small
businesses
as
to
what
their
concerns
are.
B
Are
we
being
customer
friendly
enough
for
people
having
to
wait
too
much
too
long
on
the
phone?
Are
they
getting?
Are
they
getting
responsiveness
from
our
County
when
they
need
a
sign
or
a
permit,
or
something
like
that
and
what
there
are
there
any
regulatory
barriers
that
we
may
need
to
break
down
so
further
nurture
our
small
business
ecosystem.
There's
just
a
lot
of
excitement.
A
lot
of
energy
and
I
think
that
some
great
things
are
going
to
come
out
of
this.
This
isn't
the
culmination
or
the
end.
