From YouTube: COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Update: Jan. 28, 2021
Description
Arlington County Board Chair Matt de Ferranti shares an update on vaccine distribution. More info: https://www.arlingtonva.us/covid-19/vaccines/
A
Hi
everyone
arlington
county
board,
chair
matt,
defranti
back
with
another
covid19
vaccine
update.
I
know
that
many
of
you
have
questions
about
the
supply
of
vaccines
and
when
more
doses
will
become
available,
it's
no
secret
that
supply
is
limited
not
just
in
arlington,
but
in
northern
virginia
and
indeed
in
our
country
as
a
whole.
A
Right
now,
across
virginia
50
percent
of
virginians
are
eligible
to
receive
a
vaccine
under
category
1b,
yet
we're
only
receiving
105
000
doses
per
week
to
reach
our
more
than
8
million
residents
across
the
state
in
arlington
beginning
this
week,
we're
expected
to
receive
approximately
2750
doses
per
week.
Quite
simply
the
demand
for
doses
and
the
vaccine
has
surpassed
availability,
especially
here
in
arlington.
A
That's
leading
to
some
questions
regarding
delay
and
scheduling
and
rescheduling
of
appointments.
We
have
the
staff
ready
to
do
14,
000
doses
per
week.
We're
just
waiting
for
additional
supply.
Vaccine
supply
in
our
country
is
a
challenge.
We
have
some
hopeful
signs
from
the
administration
this
week
and
we
expect
it
will
increase
gradually
over
the
coming
months.
A
In
the
meantime,
arlington
has
joined
with
other
northern
virginia
jurisdictions
in
requesting
more
vaccines.
For
our
regions
that
can
benefit
arlington,
we
hope
those
requests
will
come
through
soon
and
will
continue
to
work
at
that
advocacy,
which
is
essential
in
the
meantime.
Please
stay
safe
and
I'll
continue
to
share
important
updates
on
covid
vaccine
distribution.
