News Segments featuring people and events in Arlington County VA,
A
B
C
We
want
to
educate
the
community
and
answer
questions
about
the
so-called
secure
communities.
This
is
something
that
our
internal
did
not
choose
to
participate
in.
That
has
been
suddenly
brought
upon
us
and
appears
to
be
an
agreement
between
the
Homeland
Security's
through
the
immigration,
customs
enforcement
and
the
Commonwealth
of
Virginia,
and
we
want
to
know
what
does
that
mean
for
our
community
if.
D
We
come
to
find
out
maybe
two
months
ago
that
state
entered
into
the
Secure
Communities
agreement,
which
we
feel
tears
at
the
fabric
of
Arlington
with
it.
You
know
it
destroys
that
that
welcoming
atmosphere
of
different
cultures
so
we're
working
towards
looking
and
looking
for
answers
to
see.
If,
if
we
can
understand
better,
why
this
happened
and
see
what
we
can
do
to
change
it,
I.
B
Think
that
we
need
to
look
to
see
what
is
to
doing
what
is
secure
committees?
How
is
it
going
to
impact
our
their
trade
offs
or
their
costs
that
we
don't
know
about
how
many
resources
are
going
to
federal
immigration
enforcement
from
County
resources,
and
how
does
that
make
the
community
feel
do
kameez
really
feel
safe
with
a
program
like
secure
communities
despite
its
name,
we.
E
Know
that
it's
very
important
that
everyone
in
our
community
feel
safe
to
report
crimes
and
when
we
have
populations
within
our
community
that
have
that
broken
trust
with
the
police,
everyone's
Public
Safety
suffers.
The
facts
show
that
the
majority
of
the
people
who
have
been
found
and
deported
under
this
program
have
been
charged
with
minor
offenses.
So,
while
the
program
says
it
goes
serious
criminals,
the
numbers
don't
lie.
Comuna.
C
F
Message
here
tonight
will
be
there's
no
changes
for
how
we
interact
with
our
our
community
in
any
way
and
secure
communities
is
an
initiative
that
only
occurs
post-arrest
in
the
jail
and
from
what
I
understand
it
is
still
concentrating
on
those
most
serious
offenders.
If
they
need
to
call
the
police
they
need
to
engage
the
police.
Please
call
us
we're
here
to
help
them,
and
you
know
they
can
expect
the
same
level
service
from
our
officers
that
they've
enjoyed
over
the
past
several
years.
Arlington.
C
Has
not
changed
our
policy
at
all
in
any
way,
shape
or
form.
We
continue
to
be
a
community,
that's
inclusive
and
each
person
is
important.
A
police
department
has
not
is
not
and
will
not
be
stopping
people
to
just
to
ask
them
for
the
immigration
status.
We
are
Arlington,
we're
not
Arizona,
and
we
don't
want
this
type
of
initiative,
force,
abundance
and
many
answers
that
we
still
don't
have,
because
this
is
fairly
new.
