From YouTube: Arlington Potholes Explained in 100 Seconds
Description
How and why potholes form, how they are repaired and how to report one using the County's website
A
The
potholes
in
jelly
form
during
the
winter,
in
particular
when
the
moisture
gets
down
into
the
porous
asphalt
one
will
get
down
in
there
and
then
in
the
winter
months,
particularly
in
the
mid-atlantic
region.
We
cycle
through
the
freezing
mark
a
regular
basis,
so
at
night
it's
below
freezing
during
the
day,
it's
above
freezing
and
potholes
form
from
a
combination
of
that
natural
effect
of
freezing
and
thawing
of
moisture
and
the
abuse
of
what
we
do
on
the
roads
with
heavy
cars,
trucks,
buses
and
other
equipment.

So
this
crew
is
a
mobile
final
crew,
so
they'll
go
to
multiple
locations
in
a
single
day.
They'll
work,
a
situation
like
this
will
take
20
or
30
minutes
to
prep
and
then
repair
the
pothole.
Then
they'll
move
on
to
another
5
or
10
different
locations
where
they
might
have
a
group
of
models
like
this,
but
then
they
have
just
individual
single
bottles
in
some
locations,
so
they
work
throughout
the
county
on
a
daily
basis.
