In this edition we celebrate Black History Month with a historic marker commemoration in Hall's Hill and the launching of Project DAPS, an online exhibit examining the history of school desegregation in Arlington and Virgina. Also, JFAC is having a series of roundtables in March which you can register to attend at commissions.arlingtonva.us

desegregate
the
public
schools
in
Virginia
through
a
collection
of
photos,
documents
and
recordings
now
available
online
will
tell
you
about
this
great
new
resource
and
other
ways
to
explore
our
history
later
in
our
program,
but
first
Arlington
has
limited
space
for
schools,
parks,
recreational
facilities
and
services,
such
as
parking
for
buses
and
heavy
equipment.
The
joint
facilities,
advisory
commission
members
are
hosting
a
series
of
roundtable
discussions
on
these
issues
and
more.

annual
four
mile
run
stream
clean
up
at
five
locations
along
four
mile
run.

get
outside
and
help
restore
our
natural
spaces

madison
manner,

Carlin,
far

and
shirlington
parks,
or
by
the
arlington
mill
community
center
between
10am
and
1
p.m.
on
saturday
March
11th.

This
is
a
great
opportunity
for
individuals,
groups
and
families
to
get
involved
in
cleaning
up
our
environment,
learn
more
by
checking
the
event
calendar
at
environment,
arlington,

celebrated
Black,
History
Month,
with
a
number
of
events,
including
the
installation
of
a
historic
marker
at
North,
Culpepper
street
and
north
17th
Road.
The
marker
commemorates
the
halls
Hills
segregation
wall,
where,
from
the
1930s
until
the
1950s,
the
historically
black
neighborhood
of
halls,
Hill,
was
separated
from
the
adjacent
white
community
by
an
eight
foot
high
wall.

On
the
same
weekend,
Arlington
launched
project
deaths
which
spans
for
desegregation
of
Arlington
public
schools.
It's
an
online
exhibition
and
database
that
tells
the
story
of
the
legal
and
moral
battles
that
led
to
the
desegregation
of
schools
throughout
Arlington
and
Virginia.
The
website
is
a
powerful
tool
for
exploring
how
national
history
played
out
right
here
in
our
community.

we
wanted
to
be
available
to
as
many
people
as
possible.
We
really
want
the
community
in
Arlington
to
use
it,
but
we
also
really
want
it
to
be
of
used.
Students
may
be
elsewhere
and
to
researcher
for
free
we
also
will
be
adding
stuff.
Not
everyone
can
come
to
our
reading
room
because
we're
only
open
certain
hours
because
we're
in
Arlington
we're
only
in
one
place.
People
can
see
come
to
this
exhibit
from
all
over
the
world.

Now
it's
a
story
about
how
advocacy
and
protest
from
a
minority
of
people
can
really
effectively
push
the
middle.
The
moderate
middle
can
be
moved,
and
I
think
that
happens
because
of
the
advocacy
that
the
n-double-a-cp
and
other
organizations
were
doing
that
the
middle
gets
pushed,
and
I
think
in
today's
world
that's
still
very
relevant.

presented
his
proposed
fiscal
year,
2018
budget
to
the
county
board
and
work
sessions
will
be
held
throughout
March
and
April.

budget
is

and
finally
adopted.
