A
You
care
is
an
environmental
collection
event
where
Arlington
residents
can
drop
off
their
household
hazardous
materials
for
safe
disposal.
It
is
a
biannual
event.
We
hold
it
every
spring
and
fall
at
TJ
middle
school.
If
you
can't
make
one
of
those,
we
actually
have
a
drop-off
center
at
the
water
pollution
control
plant,
it's
open
from
9am
to
3pm,
on
saturdays
and
by
appointment
only
monday
through
friday,
if
you're
unable
to
make
that
you
can
also
schedule
a
curbside
pickup
for
a
small
fee
at
your
convenience,
we've.

A
Hazardous
materials
or
products
you
find
in
your
home
that
are
corrosive
are
poisonous
in
some
way
and
they
are
mostly
found
in
bathrooms,
kitchens
or
garages.
The
workspaces
things
like
thermometers,
batteries,
propane
tanks
or
brake
fluids.
Ii
care
is
more
than
just
collection
of
hazardous
materials.
It's
actually
recycling
other
household
products
like
bicycles
or
mattresses,
bed
frames
used,
clothing,
shoes
and
those
are
sent
to
other
countries
where
they
are
needed
for
everyday
use.
B
A
Of
computers
and
electronics
also
contain
toxic
materials
that,
if
they're
incinerated
or
placed
in
a
landfill,
can
cause
harm
to
the
environment,
so
II
care
we
accept
those
to
dispose
of
in
a
safe
way.
The
e
care
events
are
actually
really
successful.
In
2012
we
were
able
to
dispose
of
77
tons
of
household,
hazardous
materials
and
42
tons
of
electronics
for
recycling
I'd.
B
Like
to
tell
the
story
of
my
favorite
citizen,
they
came
in
one
day.
They
had
a
backpack
on,
they
had
a
bicycle,
they
stopped
their
bike,
they
took
their
backpack
off,
they
took
their
batteries
and
their
compact
fluorescent
lamps
out,
and
then
they
rode
down
and
they
dropped
their
bike
off
and
gave
their
backpack
away
and
walked
out
on
foot.
So
it's
the
folks
here
are
wonderful.
