A
You
can
be
in
the
same
race
as
the
best
people
in
the
world,
but
at
the
end
of
the
day,
it's
really
about
you
and
and
your
journey
and
and
how
you
handle
the
circumstances
of
that
day
and
that's
the
great
thing
about
running
it's
so
individual.
It's
a
fantastic
sport
and
you
really
get
to
to
see
what
you're
made
of
each
time
you
go
out
there
and
toe
the
line.
A
I've
run
over
100
marathons
since
my
first
marathon
in
1996
at
marine
corps
and
it's
kind
of
been
an
evolution
in
that
I
I
really
wanted
to
see.
A
If
I
could
do
it,
someone
told
me
there's
no
way
that
you
could
run
three
marathons
in
a
month,
and
so
I
say
well,
I
guess
maybe
maybe
some
people
can't,
but
maybe
I
can,
and
so
I
ran
the
chicago
marathon,
the
marine
corps
marathon
and
the
new
york
city
marathon,
all
in
the
same
year
in
1997,
and
then
I
figured
while
I
was
at
it.
A
I
might
as
well
try
a
50
miler,
so
I
tried
the
jfk
50-mile
race
two
weeks
after
new
york,
city
and-
and
I
was
just
like-
I
just
want
to
keep
doing
this
as
much
as
I
can.
This
is
just
an
incredible
feeling
for
me.
It's
it's
been
a
fantastic
way
to
express
myself
and
and
to
be
able
to
visit
a
lot
of
places
that
I
might
have
never
been
before.
A
I
ran
and
won
the
himalayan
100
mile
stage
race,
which
was
in
part
of
india,
called
darjeeling
pretty
mountainous
area.
It's
not
actually
on
mount
everest,
but
you
can
see
mount
everest
from
there
and
I
ran
the
challenging
marathon
to
saab
in
morocco,
which
is
a
self-sufficiency
race.
Where
you
carry
all
your
food
and
gear
for
a
week.
A
Quite
a
few
ultra
marathons.
I
was
the
2008
50k
100k
and
50
mile
trail
champion
last
year,
and
I
was
also
named
usatf
ultrarunner
of
the
year
later
this
year
I
have
the
50k
world
championships
and
I'm
representing
the
us-
and
this
will
be
my
third
team
usa
event
and
it's
a
huge
honor.
This
is
kind
of
what
has
been
inspiring
me
a
long
time
to
be
able
to
wear
the
usa
singlet
across
my
chest.
A
Arlington
community
is
terrific
and
you
know
there's
a
lot
of
support
and-
and
I
even
see
people
when
I'm
out
on
the
bike,
trails
and
they'll,
see
me
pushing
the
jog,
stroller
and
they'll
say
world
record
holder.
Oh,
you
know
we
we
followed
along
the
entire
time.
You
were
in
africa
and
I'm
like
how
do
these
people
know?
But
you
know
it
is.
A
It
is
a
tight
community
and-
and
it's
not
just
runners,
but
you
know,
other
people
in
arlington
are
paying
attention
and-
and
it's
it's
nice
to
to
feel
you
know,
feel
like
this
is
your
home
and
you
know
I
think
this
morning
there
was
probably
maybe
upwards
of
50
or
60
people
on
the
track,
and
it's
always
nice
to
have
other
people
to
train
with
and
that
are
willing
to
get
up
early
and
and
get
their
workouts
in.
A
I
feel
like
people
from
arlington
really
are
sticking
together
and
looking
out
for
each
other,
I'm
I'm
so
proud
of
my
wife,
jennifer
she's,
really,
you
know
taken
it
and
she's
done
a
couple
of
5ks
this
year.
I
can't
wait
until
we
can
all
run
together.
Like
a
you
know,
a
big
pack
of
four
wardians
all
putting
on
our
chips
and
our
bibs
and
man
I'm
excited
about
that
day
and
I've
seen
some
guys
do
that
with
their
their
sons
and
and
and
daughters
and-
and
I
just
think
wow-
that's
that's
going
to
be
awesome.
