From YouTube: Fit Arlington: Turtle Trot Training

Description

Today 1 in 3 children in America is considered obese. That's why it's important for us to find fun and innovative ways to kids to move more. The Arlington County Parks & Recreation Department is finding lots of ways to help kids age into activity. Arlington TV's Katie Sweeney drops in at Walter Reed Community Center to see what they're doing to help kids get fit. There, Jamal Jones, Director of After School Programs at Walter Reed, lets us join a class helping kids train for the upcoming Turtle Trot 5K. Katie makes a few friends with the kids, and later they get a visit from the Chairman of the Arlington County Board, J. Walter Tejada. Mr Tejada, an avid sportsman himself, has long made Fit Arlington one of his core policy objectives on the Board.

Of course the Turtle Trot training was just one of the many many programs that Parks and Rec has for Arlington's kids. To find out more and register for classes, go to www.arlingtonva.us/parks and click on "Kids."
