From YouTube: Here/now: At the Nature Center: Snakes
Description
A segment of AVN's monthly magazine show, "Here/now", At the Nature Center takes us down to Long Branch Nature Center, where there's always something happening. In this case, an up close and friendly encounter with the center's snake collection.
A
B
Welcome
to
Long
Branch
think
to
Center
my
name's
Alonzo.
This
is
Michael.
One
of
our
volunteers
will
be
helping
us
out
how
many
guys
like
saying
yeah,
that's
right
to
see.
I
knew
you
guys
would
like
Saints,
but
you
know
that
in
general
a
lot
of
people
do
not
like
sex.
Why,
I
think,
is
all
a
lot
of
people,
don't
know
much
about
snakes
and
when
you
don't
know
much
about
something,
it
can
seem
a
lot
scarier
if
you
want
to
take
the
skin
off
a
thing.
B
Ok,
this
is
what
you'd
see
a
snake
is
basically
one
long
backbone.
Let's
feel
your
back
on
your
backbone,
ok
and
200
to
400
and
something
ribs
into
your
ribs.
So
a
snake
is
kinda
felt
like
you
except
it's
got
one
long
backbone
and
lots
more
ribs,
but
no
place
is
up
before
connecting
really
your
arms
and
legs.
This
is
actually
an
African
rock
python.
It's
the
biggest
snake
they
have
in
Africa.
There
are
no
snakes
that
live
in
Virginia.
B
There
are
this
big
okay
guys
and
even
if
your
work
makes
this
big
around
thanks
pretty
much,
don't
like
the
bother
people
but
I
think
as
big
as
this
has
a
lot
more
reasons
to
be
afraid
of
us
than
we
got
to
be
afraid
of
that.
I.
Give
you
a
good
example.
See
this
skin
right
here
looks
a
lot
like
this
right
here.
Doesn't
it
doesn't
look
the
same?
So
what
do
you
think
this
bag
is
made
out
of
that's
named
Frank?
B
How
about
we
actually
see
some
real
things
from
here
on
on
every
snake
that
I'm
going
to
show?
You
is
a
snake
that
you
can
find
in
virginia
sound
cool,
not
everything
that
I
show
you
is
found
right
here
in
Arlington,
but
all
the
things
I
have
are
from
Virginia
and
the
biggest
thing
that
we
have
in
Virginia
is
actually
called
the
black
rats
name,
this
one's
not
full
grown
at
all.
B
If
you
go
a
lot
longer
than
and
I
am
now
not
holding
him
he's
holding
me,
and
you
can
see
that,
even
though
he
might
not
have
legs
he's
a
really
good
primer,
snakes
cannot
hose
the
rod
again.
They
sleep
with
your
eyes
wide
open.
Yes,
they
do
your
eyes
stay
open.
All
the
time
no
I
know
some
of
you
guys
might
have
seen
harry
potter
with
a
boa
constrictor.
Winx
it
Harry,
that's
real
magic.
That
makes
can
I.
Please
arrive.
Ok,
I!
B
Should
we
show
you
the
pink
tank
first,
because
a
king
snake
is
called
a
king
snake.
One
reason
is
because
he
can
eat
other
things,
Maggie,
it's
mostly
wraps
and
rice,
but
these
the
King
because
he
can
eat
any
others,
think
smaller
than
him.
Look
at
his
kong
now
guys
very
quick
number
bring
around,
which
guys
look
at
his
tongue.
It's
going
to
twist
around
and
his
tongue
is
going
to
point
all
sorts
of
the
records,
including
up
and
down
and
towards
my
fingers.
B
But
that's
right
now
he's
like
hey
pasty,
your
fingers
smell
like
who
this
king
snake
was
found
in
arlington
near
kohls,
ranch,
ok,
but
probably
was
someone's
pet
got
least
there,
because,
unfortunately,
King
sinks
have
pretty
been
wiped
out
out
of
Arlington
and
they're
they're
kind
of
rare,
even
in
fairfax.
Now
this
would
be
a
corn
snake,
more
a
red
rat
snake.
Ok,
it's
a
close
cousin
of
the
black
rat
snake
call
the
corn
snake
as
they
live
in
cornfields.
B
This
one,
for
example,
has
been
here
in
the
nature
center
longer
than
I
have
is
at
least
18
yrs
old,
more
and
the
fact.
If
you
go
to
a
lot
of
other
nature
centers
and
they
have
a
corn
snake
adventure
with
morning
long
branch,
because
she's
had
50
60
different
babies
that
we
have
over
the
years
given
to
all
the
local
mention
centers.
So
a
lot
of
their
sakes
were
born
here
in
Long
Branch.
B
So
this
is
a
mole
king
snake
because,
like
a
bowl,
it
lives
on
the
ground,
rats,
mice
and
other
things.
I
want
you
guys
to
feel
just
how
smooth
it
is.
It's
got
to
be
very
smooth
to
be
able
to
slide
through
the
dirt
and
underneath
and
then
I
want.
You
also
notice
that,
unlike
a
lot
of
things,
we've
been
seeing,
it
doesn't
have
a
big
big
fat
head.
It's
got
a
very
skinny
head,
so
can
get
into
little
tiny
holes
keep
going
pine
thanks.
Do
a
neat
trick
to
keep
themselves
out
of
trouble.
B
The
trick
is
gay.
Can
sound
big
and
bad
now
I
know
you
saw
a
little
rat.
The
little
rafts
ready
to
do
is
hissing
at
me.
Whatever
guys,
when
these
guys
can't
see
it's
impressive,
they
got
the
special
kind
of
thing
in
their
throat.
That
makes
them
sound
very
loud,
a
matter
of
fact
when
this
guy,
if
he
gets
scared,
he
would
hiss,
he
would
sound
a
lot
like
Darth
Vader
I
mean
really
loud,
and
if
somebody
were
in
the
woods
and
they
find
this
big
silliness
shaking
it
scale
rearing
up,
it's
pretty
big.
B
A
Hey,
there's
always
something
going
on
at
longbranch:
they
have
nature
walks,
fireside
programs
and
cans.
It's
a
really
great
place
to
take
the
kids,
and
you
can
always
check
their
schedule
as
well
as
the
schedules
of
all
of
Arlington's
parks
and
nature
centers.
By
going
to
the
calendar
at
arlington,
VA,
us
and
choosing
the
category
environment.
There's
a
lot
going
on
so
make
sure
you
don't
miss
it.
When
we
come
back
we'll
meet
the
author
of
this
year's
arlington
reads:
book
than
nine.
