The 20 years claridon house has been helping to rehabilitate and find employment for some of our mentally disadvantaged community members. The anniversary party was attended by county manager, Ron Carlin, family members, staff, consumers, friends and county board members I.

Know of no other county program that really reflects the values of Arlington, like the Clarendon house, does near on alluded to it in his remarks. But our goal, our vision statement, is to be an inclusive community but, more importantly, it's to be a community where each individual feels important each individual is part of our community is part of our ongoing activities, and to do that, sometimes you have to provide support to some members of the community and that's what this program does it really helps individuals realize their dreams. Have come together tonight to celebrate 20 years of this program's existence as a member of the Arlington community and really celebrate the people who have made this program great throughout the years, which has been the consumer.

My consumer is a mental health client who receive services through arlington county department of human services. Well, stop.

That come to this program to receive structured day support, while in the program they practice various skills from learning how to type on a computer to cooking activities of daily living and.

Then we have the social club, which is run by Jesse Blount and on the weekends we go out from ten to one on activities, go bowling to the movies shopping and things of that nature. It's.

A great place because they build community from one another. They build support both on a peer level and from you know, the people and the staff that that care for them. Here. The.

Clarendon house has been more of a rock for me: I've experienced death of a companion of 39 years, my two cats miss buddy and Miss Lucy and my mother, and it was here that I came for support our.

Long-Term goal with claritin house is to put more resources into the program, so we can expand it serve more people serve a wider range of people so that we can help people find jobs, help people find housing and get on the road to recovery. The program is a model across the country and we're doing it right here in Arlington, which is extremely exciting and important program for Arlington to keep people.
