Its also a tribute to Jay Fisette as he concludes 20 years of service on the Arlington County Board

J, it's been 20.

Years yeah I was elected in 1997 when I was 12 so.

With those 20 years you, you know, you must have had some really good years and maybe some challenging years. It's.

A very nice way to put it- and it's absolutely true, but this year 2017 was an especially good year mark.

To me, it's felt like a really special year. Not only have the conversation at the board table, but how we've been communicating with our residents.

Joint facilities, Advisory Commission, is a real example of that public engagement, the leadership and good sinking of its membership had become indispensable in making decisions about Arlington's long term future and our ability to continue to deliver core services.

As Columbia Pike improves, the real danger is that housing becomes even more expensive and we lose our diversity. So what I'm, especially proud of, is that we've planned for affordable housing on both Columbia Pike and throughout the county, so that Arlington Cal can remain diverse and inclusive.

Our libraries have become an excellent source of Technology across our county, and what do you think about it? Digital is, is, is serving to improve and enhance transparency and open government.

You know we're at the cutting edge of technology. That's been great for attracting business darling.

And we continue to be a leader and sustainability and environmental efforts.

And planning your favorite planning planning.

Planning one of our planning hallmarks for 2017 was the lubber run community center.

And we over to the contract for the next phase of language park and a new Aquatic Center.

And we've also completed project with. Yes, we have.

One of the major ones in my backyard is the Four Mile Run Street restorations.

Am exhausted listening to that? That's an incredible amount of work and what you know what a great year.

To have her last year, it was a good year, I'm very happy with it. You.

Know over the last 20 years, you've done a lot of work and what would you say other than hiring me as manager? What has been one of your greatest achievements or set of achievements.

B

Well, you've identified number one and beyond that you know nine eleven. The way the county responded, our community energy plan, our transportation system. It's been pretty cool, helping guide the change in this community over 20 years, Jay.

Has really provided a good sort of steady hand at the helm and with the experience and his insights about the way things have been and helping us move forward to where we need to go next, it's been a real pleasure working with Jay.

Has been a great mentor, it's not just because his years of experience, but it's really his steady leadership, his calm, demeanor and his steadfastness and being respectful of everyone. That's something that I hope to emulate. We.

Served on the Audit Committee together, both of us as co-chairs and I, think that that was a good demonstration of the fact that people can have respect respectful differences but still get along and work for the common good of our County. His.

Fingerprints are all over elements of Arlington and the region that we call home from transit and cycling to great planning, to affordable housing and to the values we've come to know as Arlington. For me, it's been a pleasure and an honor to be Jays colleague and a real joy to be his constituent, I.

Really have enjoyed working with you, I've known you for a long time. It's been great. You've been one of the people that have really been supportive for me, and you've done wonderful things for the community and I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you mark.
