From YouTube: Around Arlington | Snow Forum
Description
The County is holding a Community Snow Forum on Feb. 24 at Francis Scott Key Elementary to get your feedback on snow clean up efforts. Also, registration for Summer classes is beginning, the county offers free tax advice for low and moderate income residents, the annual Feel the Heritage celebration returns, and in this week's Street Beat we look at efforts to make the I66/Washington Blvd intersection work better and safer for everyone.
A
We
hope
we've
seen
the
last
of
snow
for
this
season,
but
we're
not
done
learning
from
the
experience
we're
holding
a
community
meeting
where
you
can
share
your
thoughts
on
how
we
handle
the
26
inches
of
snow
that
fell
in
our
region
in
January
and
we'll
tell
you
the
details
later
in
our
program.
But
first,
let's
think
about
summer.
Registration
for
Arlington's
popular
summer
camp
program
is
underway.
A
The
catalog
is
online
and
features

improving
traffic

and
safety
involves
working
with
a
lot
of
state
and
local
partners.
B
Hi,
my
name
is
Larry.
Marcus.
Welcome
back
to
street
beat
I'm
here
at
the
intersection
of
I
66
in
Washington.
Boulevard
in
east
falls
church,
where
we
have
some
of
the
biggest
challenges
in
driver
behavior
in
traffic
congestion
in
the
county.
Many
of
the
drivers
as
they
come
towards
I-66
look
at
Washington
Boulevard
as
the
on-ramp
to
I
66,
certainly
from
a
county
and
a
community
perspective.
That
is
not
the
case.
It
is
a
road
that
includes
businesses
and
residents
of
east
falls.
B
Church
we've
partnered
with
the
state
who
has
improved
the
I
66
on-ramp
by
adding
a
lane,
but
that's
that's
not
enough,
because
that
will
encourage
more
traffic
in
potentially
more
problems
for
our
neighborhoods.
So
what
can
we
do
along
the
stretch,
this
community
stretch
to
improve
the
conditions
for
them,
so
this
is
what's
happened.
We
have
improved
the
buffer
between
where
they
live
in
the
street
and
the
cars
themselves.
We
have
actually
channelized
the
vehicles
coming
down
washington,
boulevard
tagging
it
for
66.
We
have
emblems
on
the
street
we've
also
added
a
bike.
B
Lane
was
certainly
improves
bike
safety,
but
also
adds
that,
buffer
from
the
curb
to
the
street
for
residents
to
have
a
little
bit
extra
space
from
all
this
traffic,
you
see
behind
me.
Getting
this
done
was
not
easy.
It
took
coordination
with
the
state
with
the
community
and
with
arlington
resources
to
bring
it
all
together
and
that's
happened.
B
This
project
has
improved
the
ability
to
get
onto
I-66
for
those
in
the
county
and
beyond,
to
improve
pedestrian
and
bicycle
safety
and
added
a
buffer
between
the
curb
and
where
the
cars
are
for
the
residents
the
push
to
cars
a
little
bit
farther
away
and
for
us
improving
that
quality
of
life
for
the
residences
is
our
number
one
priority,
we're
not
done
in
these
false
Church.
We
still
have
a
lot
of
work
to
do,
to
make
it
easier
to
walk
and
bike
to
the
metro
station.
