A
Overall
revenues
are
up
in
great
part
due
to
real
estate
assessments.
After
two
years
of
dealing
with
the
effects
of
coven
19,
some
sources
of
revenue
have
fully
returned,
while
others
are
taking
longer
to
return
to
pre-pandemic
levels
such
as
hotel
taxes
and
non-tax
revenues
like
parking
meters,
we
will
continue
to
monitor
and
evaluate
all
revenue
sources,
with
continued
improvement
of
tax
and
local
revenue,
federal
support
through
the
american
rescue
plan
act
and
other
one-time
monies.
A
The
proposed
budget
keeps
all
tax
rates
unchanged
and
we've
reduced
our
reliance
on
one-time
funding
by
half
from
16
million
in
fiscal
year,
2022
to
8.1
million
in
fiscal
year,
2023
further
demonstrating
our
commitment
to
financial
stability.
This
fy
2023
proposed
budget
totals
1.47
billion
up
5.5
from
the
previous
year.
This
year's
budget
prioritizes
the
following
areas:
investment
in
climate
change.
We
are
committing
executing
energy
and
climate
purpose,
investments
across
our
departments
and
programs
to
drive
climate
sustainability
and
resiliency
goals.
A
We
have
continued
our
emphasis
on
eviction,
prevention
and
housing
support,
while
increasing
the
quantity
of
affordable
housing
units,
public
safety,
implementing
the
police
practices
group
recommendation,
including
funding
for
crisis
intervention
to
best
support
those
experiencing
mental
health
crises,
and,
let's
not
forget
schools,
they
will
receive
576
million
an
increase
of
46
million
as
part
of
our
revenue
sharing
agreement.
Of
course,
all
of
this
can't
be
done
without
a
strong
workforce.
A
The
manager's
proposal
includes
additional
compensation
for
a
dedicated
staff
aimed
to
strengthen
retention
and
recruitment
amid
a
competitive
market
and
inflation,
and
this
budget
also
provides
the
necessary
resources
to
begin
implementing
the
collective
bargaining
ordinance
passed
just
last
year.
These
and
other
funding
decisions
in
this
budget
have
been
examined
with
a
racial
equity
lens
to
consider
the
impacts
on
residents,
businesses
and
employees,
building
on
the
continuous
and
dedicated
support
to
operationalize
racial
equity
and
county
policies,
procedures
and
programs.
A
So
what's
next,
the
manager's
february
12

the
proposed
budget

series
