From YouTube: Around Arlington: Crystal City Multi-Modal Center
Description
ATV's regular roundup of news and notes. In this edition, we attend the opening of the Crystal City multi-modal center and we look forward to the JFAC Interactive Public Forum on May 24 at Wakefield High School. There's also an emotional ceremony for a fallen police officer, and new historical markers at Jennie Dean park.
A
Arlington
County
and
the
Knox
Civic
Association,
officially
unveiled
our
newest
historical
markers,
which
have
been
installed
at
Jenny
Dean
Park,
the
parks,
location,
honors,
Jenny,
Dean,
founder
of
the
Manassas
industrial
school.
A
vocational
education
program
for
african-american
youth
established
in
1893
the
park
plays
an
important
role
in
the
history
of
South
Arlington
as
a
center
of
the
african-american
community
sports
and
recreation
activities.
A
In
the
era
of
segregation,
you
can
see
the
markers
and
enjoy
the
12
acre
park,
which
includes
ball
fields,
tennis
and
basketball,
courts
and
a
picnic
shelter
it's
located
at
3630,
27th
Street
south
in
Arlington,
and
we
had
more
news
to
celebrate
in
Crystal
City,
where
the
county
announced
the
completion
of
the
Crystal
City
multimodal
Center.
Let's
take
a
look,
we're.
B
Here
to
celebrate
the
completion
of
the
Crystal
City
multimodal
Center,
this
is
a
partnership
between
Arlington,
our
Northern
Virginia,
Transportation
Authority
and
the
state
where
we
rebuild
18th
Street
from
Clark
Bell
over
to
each
Street.
On
18th,
we
created
additional
transit
pasty
for
new
bus
stays
to
accommodate
our
regional
carriers,
as
well
as
our
hotel
shuttles.
We
also
improve
pedestrian
connection
conditions
connecting
the
Pentagon
city,
improve
bike
infrastructure
lighting.
B
So
we're
really
pleased
with
this
project.
The
whole
idea
in
Arlington
is
to
make
it
really
easy
for
people
to
use
forms
of
travel
other
than
driving
alone,
and
this
project
is
very
much
delivering
on
that.
So,
for
example,
a
hotel
shuttle
would
regularly
block
the
Metro
bus
and
art
must
days.
This
intersection
would
be
blocked,
and
so
our
Metro
buses
or
our
buses
would
not
be
able
to
move.
Same
was
true
on
crystal
drive.
Those
same
buses
would
be
just
stopping
in
the
travel
lane.
B
C
Problems
are
not
no
problem.
This
the
footprint
of
this
project
is
relatively
small,
but
the
impact
of
it
is
tremendous
in
these
past
Crystal
City,
throughout
Arlington,
County
and
throughout
all
of
Northern
Virginia,
because
this
is
a
place
where
we
often
say
a
stops.

D
B
What
we
find
in
terms
of
the
research
for
Millennials
is
they
are
not
so
much
invested
in
owning
a
vehicle,
their
status
isn't
necessarily
tied
to
the
vehicle
they
purchase.
It's
more
about
experience,
it's
more
about
being
connected,
and
so,
if
they
can
have
experiences
and
be
connected
and
walk
bike
use
transit.
You
know
that
is
actually
delivering
on
some
of
the
things
they're.
Looking
for
and
that's
what
we're
trying
to
provide
here
in
Arlington,
a
big.
