ATV's regular round up of all the news and notes from around Arlington. In this edition, we visit an Arlington County Police Dept. community outreach program that's been going strong for two years. kicked
off
the
new
year
with
an
opportunity
for
police
and
residents
to
get
to
know
each
other
a
bit
better.
We'll
show
you
how
they're
forging
new
connections
later
in
our
program,
but
first
come
to
the
lubber
run
community
center
design,
kickoff
meeting
to
give
us
your
ideas
on
a
new
center
from
the
very
beginning
of
the
planning
process,
it's
on
Wednesday
February,
8th
from
6:30
to
9
p.m.
at
Barrett
elementary
school,
learn
more
and
sign
up
for
project
updates
at
projects.

March
1st
about
the
bike,
roadway
and
pedestrian
project
on
Washington
Boulevard
from
Westover
to
East
Falls
Church.
We
want
to
hear
your
thoughts
on
improving
bike
access
and
pedestrian
safety

that
busy
stretch
of
road
and
explore
options
for
limiting
potential
impacts
in
the
area.

district
team
and
neighbors
as
part
of
the
popular
coffee
with
a
cop
program.

a
program
called
coffee
with
the
cop.
The
whole
idea
behind
this
program
is
to
find
another
way
to
communicate
with
our
community
that
we
serve.
We
go
in
a
meeting.
Usually
we
have
agendas
and
points
to
make
coffee
of
the
car
program
is
really.
We
have
no
agenda.
We
have
no
message.
It's
really
based
on
our
people
coming
citizens
that
we
serve
coming
and
talking
to
us
about
the
issues
that
concern
concerns
them.
We,
as
a
department
have
been
doing
it
for
about
two
plus
years.

We
do
that
every
few
months,
maybe
about
four
or
five
months.
We
have
a
conversation
with
a
cop
we're
doing
next
week
we're
doing
a
pizza
with
an
SRO,
but
the
idea
behind
it
is
that
we
were
going
in
with
no
particular
message
to
deliver
other
than
to
listen
to
the
people
that
we
serve.
The
problem
truly
believes
that
we're
not
really
here
to
police
on
you
buddy
we're
to
serve
people.
Not
everybody
communicates
the
same
way,
so
we
have
to
find
alternate
ways
to
communicate.
So
this
is
one
way
of
it.

we
can
do
it
by
emails.
We
are
next-door
komm,
you
know
we'll
do
it
that
way.
Press

people
should
know
we
are
here
to
serve
them.
They
should
know
what
their
Police
Department
does
and
doesn't
do.
Philosophically
we
haven't
changed
in
that
sense,
but
we
have
recognized.
We
have
to
do
a
better
job
of
finding
more
than
one
way
of
communicator.
I
think
we're
very
cognizant
of
the
fact
that
there
have
definitely
been
years
in
the
country
where
communication
issues,
trust
issues
have
been
a
factor.
