From YouTube: Here/now: The Yarn Crafters
Description
A segment of AVN's monthly magazine show "Here/now", this feature visits with a group of remarkable ladies at the Aurora Hills Senior Center who turn the joys and fellowship of a knitting circle into a great act of volunteerism.
A
B
We
are
the
yonk
Raptors
of
Aurora
Hills,
Arlington,
County,
Senior
Center,
and
we
meet
on
Monday
mornings
at
ten
o'clock
and
we
knit
for
charity
and
we
have
very
dedicated.
Ladies
most
of
the
time
we
knit
with
donated
yarn
and
we
make
you
want
to
know
what
we
make.
We
make
hats
and
booties
and
mittens
for
newborns
Afghans
for
newborns.
That's
part
of
Project
family,
which
is
a
wonderful
organization,
and
then
we
we
make
a
warm
items
for
some
of
the
schools
here
in
Arlington.
We
also
make
Afghans
and
shawls
for
scenes.
B
B
Initially
I
started
bidding
bed
songs
for
hospice
by
myself,
just
as
something
I
wanted
to
do,
and
we
made
many
many
of
those
and
people
would
ask
me
what
are
you
doing?
You
know,
why
are
you
knitting
because
I'd
be
at
council,
baby,
knitting
and
I?
Think
anywhere,
I'd
knit
side
told
them
and
other
people
wanted
join
me
so
I
said
sure
make
anything
you
want
and
that's
how
it
all
started.
I
was
making
dead,
sighs
somebody
else
that
made
baby
things
somebody
else
made
whatever
they
wanted
to
do.
There
were
no
rules
with
us.
B
Production
people
come
if
they're
interested,
we
will
teach
them
out
in
it.
They
we
give
them
the
yarns
in
it
and
all
crocheting
I
always
forget
project
and
and
that's
how
we're
doing
it
and
we
love
it.
You
could
see
how
happy
everybody
is.
We
solve
a
lot
of
family
problems
here,
one
of
them
members.
She
decided
to
make
socks
for
the
boat
and
you'll
see
it's
in
the
picture.
They
sent
us
a
letter
of
thank
you
from
the
Vatican,
so
we
keep
that
in
the
center
of
about
all
avoid.
B
B
But
we've
been
known
to
knit
at
the
Opera,
we
sit
in
front
of
a
TV
and
we
knit
we
knit
whenever
we
can't,
because
we
like
it,
we
like
doing
it
and
that's
how
we
accomplished
what
we
do
and
you're
right.
Is
that
amazing?
What
you
see
back
then
and
everybody
does
it
very
willingly
and
without
fanfare,
it's
it's
just
something
we
really
enjoy
doing
and
we're
doing
something
for
somebody
else.
We're
all
very
proud
of
what.
C
We
do
my
husband
came
to
the
library
one
day
and
saw
a
flyer
for
it
and
said:
I
think
this
would
be
something
you'd
be
interested
in,
and
so
I
came
the
first
day
and
of
course,
I
was
hooked,
I
love
to
knit
and
crochet,
and
it's
nice
to
be
able
to
do
something.
You
love
and
then
to
pass
it
on
to
someone
in
the
community
he's
going
to
use
it
and
you
know
need
it
desperately
in
many
cases,
makes
me
feel
like
I'm
more
a
part
of
this
community
when
I
do
something
like
that.
A
The
ladies
of
the
yarn
crafters
are
always
happy
to
see
new
recruits,
that's
really
good
to
know,
and
it's
a
great
way
to
spend
a
morning.
Let
me
tell
you
and
for
more
ways
