From YouTube: Mobile Tourism Vehicle
Description
Emily Cassell and Courtney Cacatian of Arlington's Convention & Visitors Services division introduce us to their latest innovation for making visitor services more flexible, accessible, and up to date. It's the Mobile Tourism Vehicle which replaces the counties old storefront Visitors Center, and brings tourist information right into the neighborhoods where Arlington's visitors are staying. So
this
is
Arlington's
new
mobile
visitor
center,
and
this
is
court
education,
our
visitor
services,
counselor
level,
is
really
the
key
word
here
and
all
the
visitors,
centers
people
use,
have
to
walk
to
a
storefront
location
and
look
around
at
lots
of
maps
and
brochures
and
then
take
them
away
to
go
visit
the
neighborhoods
where
they
wanted
to
see
attractions.
But
now
it's
circling.
This
is
a
much
more
flexible
solution.

The
kiosk
and
the
rolling
concierge
is
where
a
great
test
for
us,
and
we
did
that
strategically
in
Rosslyn
and
Crystal
City
in
order
to
serve
up
to
80%
of
Arlington
Hotel.
Yet
so
the
mobile
visitor
center
actually
combines
those
two
solutions
and
enables
us
to
spread
visitor
services
to
major
metro
stops
in
our
guest
neighborhoods
throughout
the
county.
True
Darlington's
reputation
as
a
thought
leader,
this
mobile
visitor
center
is
one
of
the
first
of
its
kind
in
the
country
and
it
actually
saves
the
county
money.
B
C
Considered
pretty
risky,
because
what
we
were
doing
was
taking
the
old
model
of
the
theater
services
and
turning
it
on
its
head,
rather
than
waiting
for
people
to
come
to
us
in
a
storefront
visitor
center.
We're
going
out
to
them
we're
at
six
different
metro
stops
in
Arlington
five
days
a
week
so
that
people
can
get
information
on
local
attractions,
shopping
and
restaurant
will
also
be
around
for
a
special
event
such
as
the
Marine
Corps
Marathon.
C
B
For
coming
out
here
today,
and
it
looks
like
you
have
I
guess
now,
more
than
ever,
smart
communities
are
looking
for
better
ways
to
provide
services,
and
this
mobile
visitor
center
is
a
perfect
example
of
something
that's
decentralized,
convenient,
flexible
and
mobile.
So
we
look
forward
to
seeing
you
soon
in
an
Arlington
neighborhood.
A
If
you
have
guests
coming
to
town
or
if
you'd
like
to
check
it
out
yourselves,
you
can
see
the
mobile
tourism
vehicles
for
schedule
by
going
to
stay
Arlington,
comm
and
clicking
on
the
link
for
Arlington's
visitor
services.
The
vehicle
makes
weekly
four-hour
stops
at
six
of
the
county's
metro
stations.
So
it's
always
easy
to
find.
