A
Welcome
to
this
edition
of
newsmakers
today
we
attend
the
topping
out
celebration
at
the
construction
site
of
the
new
arlington
mill
community
center.
The
project
is
not
expected
to
open
until
late
spring
2013,
but
as
hit
construction.
Vice
president
RJ
trotty
er
explains
the
event
marks
an
important
milestone.
Well,.
B
What's
going
on
here
today
is
we
celebrate
topping
the
construction
and
the
structure
out,
and
it's
an
old
tradition
that
comes
from
Europe
and
what
it
entails
is
when
the
structure
it
gets
to
the
top
of
the
building.
What
we
do
is
we
have
a
celebration
to
celebrate
growth
and
to
celebrate
the
new
generation
of
things
happening,
which
is
means
the
building
of
the
structure
and
in
completing
this
structure
as
it
is,
it
doesn't
mean
finishing
the
job
complete,
but
it's
the
major
part
of
the
structure
getting
completed
today
today,.
C
Is
a
substantial
construction
milestone,
the
last
level
of
concrete?
We
have
a
five-story
concrete
building
and
the
roof
on
top
when
the
roof
is
poured.
The
building
is
topped
out
and
now
we're
ready
to
put
the
cladding
on
the
shell
and
start
the
interior
work.
That's
when
things
really
happens
will
run
much
more
quickly.
The.
D
Thing
that
I
find
really
cool
is
that
they're
rewarding
their
workers
they're
the
ones
who
make
it
happen,
there's
a
lot
of
people
at
a
lot
of
different
levels,
but
the
workers,
the
boots
on
the
ground
come
here
every
day
and
all
kinds
of
weather
that
really
make
it
happen.
So
it's
neat
to
see
them
rewarding
these
people
back
behind
us.
That's
that's!
How
projects
you've
done,
what.
B
We're
trying
to
do
is
we're
trying
to
give
back
a
little
bit
to
you
guys
now
is
it
happens
with
you
guys.
You
guys
are
the
boots
on
the
ground.
You
guys
are
the
guys
get
dirty
with
me
every
day
you
guys
are
the
guys
in
the
rain
and
in
the
snow
and
when
it's
a
hundred
degrees,
we're
pouring
concrete
out
here.
It's
about
you
guys.
So
that's
what
this
is
about,
so
give
yourself
a
hand.
C
E
Going
to
be
a
full-size
gymnasium,
so
all
the
kinds
of
sports
you
might
play
in
a
gym
will
be
able
to
happen
here
in
an
iconic,
mostly
glass
gym.
So
that
would
be
really
cool
in
the
community.
Center
itself
will
have
the
kinds
of
things
you'd
expect
there'll,
be
computers,
there's
an
exercise
room,
there's
a
room
for
aerobic
classes
and
that
sort
of
stuff
and.
D
B
We
excavated
sixty
thousand
yards
of
fill
out
of
this
job.
We
broke
20,000
yards
of
rock
out
of
this
job
to
get
to
where
we're
at
and
to
get
this
building
in
right
now
we
laid
over
a
thousand
feet
of
sewer
line
up
to
18
feet
deep
on
columbia,
pike
on
south
Dinwiddie
and
in
arlington
mill,
and
that
was
no
easy
feat
to
do
any
of
that,
because
we're
trying
to
keep
the
neighborhood
happy
we're
trying
to
keep
the
public
happy
we're
trying
to
keep
the
traffic
moving
and
I
know.
