From YouTube: Individuals with Developmental Disabilities Proclamation
Description
March is Including People with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities Month, and Arlington County held a special ceremony to recognize individuals in our community who have over many years provided exemplary service or care to Arlington residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

A
The
Arlington
public
schools
educate
more
than
a
hundred
students
who
have
an
intellectual
disability
and
four
times
that
number
who
have
other
developmental
disabilities.
Arlington's
department
of
human
services
supports
over
250
adults,
who
have
an
intellectual
and
developmental
disability
Arlington.
A
With
intellectual
developmental
disabilities
are
often
feel
like
or
are
viewed
to
be,
on,
the
outside
of
the
community,
and
what
we
do
in
Arlington
is
work
really
hard
to
make
them
feel
to
integrate
them.
Make
them
feel
like
they
are
a
part
of
the
center
of
this
community.
We
have
a
lot
of
people
to
help
us
do
that.
This
is
a
celebration
and
recognition
in
support
of
those
persons
with
intellectual
and
developmental
disabilities
and
the
people
that
help
them.
C
We
honored
about
14
individuals
who
work
with
people
with
disabilities
for
the
care
and
attention
that
they've
brought
to
the
work
that
they
do,
because
what
they
do
is
make
it
possible
for
the
folks
with
disabilities
to
really
be
successful
in
our
community.
These
support
people
kind
of
wrap
their
arms
around
them
and
make
make
it
possible
for
them
to
be
successful.
We
also
honored
some
longtime
educators
who
have
spent
their
careers
working
with
folks
with
disabilities
and
most
fun
of
all.
D
Thing
about
autistic
kids
are
not
social
and
the
one
thing
that
these
are
these
groups
like
kool
Katz,
is
they
get
the
kids
involved
and
the
hockey
community
has
been
very,
very
good
with
us
from
like
we
have
mentors
to
come
out
and
help
us
on
the
ice.
You
know
during
practice
or
down
the
camp
we
have
every
year
in
August.
That
is
but
definitely
the
best
part
I
love
about
is
the
integration
with
everybody
involved.
I.
E
Develop
programs
for
individuals
with
ID
at
a
day,
support
program
in
springfield,
and
I
have
an
individual
that
lives
in
arlington
and
I
was
nominated
by
his
mother
and
I'm
just
overwhelmed
and
just
very
happy.
The
rewards
for
me
just
to
see
the
various
individuals
that
I
work
with
accomplish
just
the
most
minor
achievements,
which
is
just
overwhelming
cuz.
F
I
was
in
the
retail
for,
like
10
years,
I
fell
into
this
field
and
maybe
like
six
years
ago
and
I
just
never
looked
back,
it's
just
the
business
and
the
passion
I
have
for
it.
I
just
love
what
I
do
with
the
guys
and
being
recognized.
It's
a
really
big
surprise.
For
me,
I
was
surprised
when
I
got
the
letter.
Everything
I
was
just
so
excited
because
you
know
this
is
my
first
time
being
recognized
for
award
and
I'm
just
appreciated
that
you
know
someone
else
even
appreciate
what
I've
here.
