Description
The Arlington County Fire Department accepts the gift of a damaged steel beam from the World Trade Center, brought from New York by the Fire Dept of New York. August 29 2010.
A
Arlington's
fire
station
number
five
was
the
scene
for
some
stirring
and
emotional
pageantry
recently
when
FD,
and
why
the
fire
department
of
New
York
presented
Arlington
with
a
gift
of
steel
from
the
world
trade
center
in
honor
of
the
Arlington
fire
departments,
emergency
response
actions
at
the
Pentagon
on
911.
The
beam
was
escorted
down
I-95
by
a
procession
that
included
over
500
motorcycle
riders
and
FDNY
tradition,
known
as
iron
and
steel.
B
September
11
2001
is
a
day
that
is
etched
into
American
history.
Most
of
the
people
of
the
world
were
watching
every
American
was
touched
and
the
people
of
Arlington
and
New
York
City
were
at
the
center.
We
were
living
it
today.
Nine
years
later,
we
officially
and
solemnly
seal
our
memory
of
that
common
experience
of
sep
tember
11
2001
with
the
city
of
New
York.
C
One
of
the
other
bonds
that
exist
in
society
is
that
between
firefighters,
a
firefighter
can
walk
into
any
fire
station
anywhere
in
the
country
and
be
accepted
immediately.
Does
it
make
any
difference
where
they
are
or
where
they
come
from?
The
bond
is
that
strong,
the
bond
between
arlington
in
New
York
becomes
a
little
bit
stronger
today
through
the
work
of
Family
Foundation,
to
preserve
the
memory
of
those
that
made
the
ultimate
sacrifice
on
911.
D
It
just
carries
all
the
emotion
that
we
hoped
it
would,
and
our
mission
here
is
to
honor
the
bravery
and
the
skill
and
performance
of
duty
that
the
Arlington
County,
Fire,
Department
and
surrounding
departments.
What
they
did
on
911
are
our
hats
off
to
them
so
from
one
department
to
another.
This
piece
of
steel
is
from
our
hearts
and
we
like
to
present
it
to
the
Arlington
County.
Far
apart.
God
bless.
