From YouTube: AIRE Energy Journey
Description
The Arlington Initiative to Rethink Energy (AIRE) team created a life sized board game to challenge players on everyday actions that have an energy impact. Stations were set up throughout the game designed to inspire and educate players on how they can change their everyday activity to help reduce their energy use, and to save money. All ages participated in the event, that generated over 300 players, all with the help of nearly 90 volunteers in a successful and educational afternoon.

B
Well,
the
energy
journey
is
really
to
raise
awareness
of
energy
and
to
empower
people
to
be
able
to
take
steps
to
to
improve
their
lives,
improve
their
comfort
while
also
saving
money.
There's
everything
from
transportation
choices
like
driving,
less
or
choosing
a
fuel-efficient
vehicle
to
choosing
energy
efficient
appliances,
sealing
their
homes,
there's
a
whole
variety
of
steps
that
people
can
take
that
will
reduce
waste.
C
The
staff
in
arlington
are
so
creative.
We
need
to
do
outreach
continually
to
bring
to
people
the
ideas,
the
awareness
of
how
they
can
save
those
dollars
protect
the
environment
in
their
everyday
behavior,
and
this
energy
journey
is
an
incredibly
creative
and
labor
intensive.
I
think
90
volunteers
to
pull
this
together
to
let
people
walk
through
the
options
they
have
every
day
to
reduce
their
energy
use,
save
money
and
and
for
the
greater
good
as
well.
So
it's
really
exciting.
D
This
game
is
so
impressive,
it's
so
much
fun.
The
kids
are
having
a
blast,
I'm
having
fun
with
it,
and
I
think
that's
it's
a
great
way
to
kind
of
bump
up
awareness
to
make
it
fun.
You
know
too
much,
I
think
when
we
talk
about
energy,
can
tell
like
we're
just
lecturing
people.
That's
not
the
way
to
go
about
it.
This
is
the
way
to
go
about
it,
which
is
great
well.
This.
E
Is
really,
I
think,
of
an
example
of
the
whole
issue
of
think
globally
and
act
locally,
so
what
we're
trying
to
do
is
bring
to
the
realities
of
everyday
living,
the
long-term
decisions
that
we
have
to
make
as
a
community
regarding
energy.
E
So
this
is
really
part
of
an
overall
way
of
thinking
that
arlington
county,
I
think,
is
in
the
lead
in
in
many
communities,
and
that
is
to
think
about
how
we
can
make
a
difference
in
global
climate
change,
in
energy
efficiency
in
energy
independence,
but
here's
an
example
about
how
you
can
incorporate
them
into
your
daily
life,
but
how
it
can
add
up
to
a
whole
community,
making
a
difference
in
the
world.
Well,.
C
That's
really
fundamental
to
our
long-term
as
a
community,
our
long-term
competitiveness,
economic
competitiveness,
our
ability
to
protect
the
environment
that
sustains
us
and
to
save
money.
If
we
can
do
all
these
things,
we'll
position
this
community
to
in
a
very
progressive
way,
to
attract
business,
attract
and
save
money,
both
on
a
personal
level
and
as
a
community.
