Community Gardens
A
They
used
to
not
be
very
long
waitlist,
but
in
over
the
past
year
our
wait
list
is
actually
doubled
and
we
have
upwards
of
500
people
on
that
waitlist
and
the
county
was
working
very
hard
to
try
to
address
that
and
reduce
that
list.
We
recently
expanded
the
gardens
at
four
mile
run:
community
gardens
by
44
garden
spaces
and
the
recently
purchased
property
at
South.
Laying
will
expand
that
garden
by
about
the
same
amount
as
the
larger
plots
become
available,
we're
actually
splitting
them
in
half,
so
we
can
assign
to
new
gardeners
to
that
space.
A
A
A
Gardening
is
a
common
element
for
many
different
people
from
many
different
ages,
backgrounds
and
cultures.
Everybody's
interested
in
food
and
everybody-
that's
in
a
garden
is
interested
in
growing
food,
and
it's
it's
very
beautiful
to
spend
some
time
in
the
gardens.
I
think
that
we're
really
lucky
here
in
Arlington
that
we
have
found
land
to
set
aside
for
this
activity
and
that
I
encourage
people
to
participate
in
the
county
community
gardens,
but
also
to
consider
creating
private
gardens
throughout
the
county.
A
There's
publicly
on
space
that
could
be
garden
and
we
have
information
on
our
website
to
help
people
start
gardens
in
their
own
space.
I
grew
up
as
a
gardener.
I've
always
guarded.
My
family's
garden
I
have
space
now,
but
I
have
big
oak
trees.
So
I
have
a
lot
of
shade,
so
I
usually
get
my
produce
at
the
farmers
market.
