Description
Arlington County and George Washington University proudly celebrated the opening of Field #6 at Barcroft Park as an NCAA- level baseball stadium.
With added funding from GW, Arlington's first synthetic turf diamond field features new spectator seating, a pressbox, dugouts, bullpens, batting cages, a new entrance plaza and a renovated parking lot.
Field #6 is the Home of the GW Colonials, and provides Arlington's recreational youth baseball leagues with a near major-league experience.

B
Very
exciting
day,
this
is
both
the
opening
of
our
baseball
season,
but
the
more
important
thing
is
that
we're
opening
Barcroft
field,
which
is
our
the
new
hole
for
a
be
at
least
for
the
next
20
years
of
our
men's
baseball
team.
But
it's
also
gonna
be
a
facility
that
can
be
used
by
residents
of
the
county.
So
it's
a
great
partnership
between
a
private
university
and
a
county
government
to
do
something.
That's
really
going
to
benefit
our
student
athletes
and
also
the
residents
of
the
county
itself.
We're.
C
Delighted
this
day
arrived
our
partnership
with
a
George
Washington
University
has
gotten
stronger.
We
have
about
20
years
in
the
making
and
we're
delighted
that
this
first
synthetic
grass
field
baseball
field
has
come
to
fruition.
It
took
a
lot
of
work,
but
I
think
shows
to
show
when
everybody
was
together
or
involved
in
our
community.
It's
consistent
with
our
Finn
Arlington
program,
where
we
are
promoting
a
culture
of
fitness,
and
so
now
the
thrill
of
baseball
has
this
greater
facility
now
for
to
be
the
home
of
the
GW
Colonials.
This.
D
Is
our
first
artificial
turf,
baseball
field?
We
have
a
lot
of
artificial
turf
and
synthetic
turf
fields
that
are
for
soccer
and
other
sports,
but
this
is
our
first
baseball
and
this
is
really
sort
of
groundbreaking
for
us,
because
we're
going
to
be
able
to
for
the
first
time
have
kids
play
out
here
all
year
round
to
do
baseball.
D
We
work
with
Little
League's,
adult
leagues,
anybody
else
to
find
time
that
when
GW
is
not
using
the
field
to
program
it
for
their
games
as
well
insert
a
rare
treat
for
kids
in
Arlington
that
are
gonna,
be
able
to
play
on
an
NC
double-a
field
and
that
this
kind
of
quality
in
this
level,
with
just
dams
to
their
parents
and
families,
to
watch
and
cheer
them
on.
So
we're
really
I
think.
E
We've
been
here
just
about
20
years
playing
our
varsity
baseball
team
and
so
over
the
last
year
and
a
half
we've
renovated
the
the
field
to
make
it
into
a
true
stadium
and
a
true
home
field
for
GW
baseball.
For
us
it's.
We
hope
it
will
really
give
our
team
a
great
advantage
to
play
on
one
of
the
best
collegiate
fields
in
the
country,
but
also
for
the
people
here
in
Arlington
to
come
out
and
support
our
team.
This.
F
Is
a
gorgeous
facility?
It's
such
a
wonderful
opportunity
for
GW
for
the
county.
It
really
is
a
win-win
and
I'm
just
delighted
that
we
were
able
to
do
it
and
the
partnership
with
GW
I
think
will
continue
to
grow
and
for
this
facility
to
be
available
for
people
in
this
part
of
the
county.
It
increases
access
and
it
just
it's
a
wonderful
thing
way
to
go.
