In this edition of County Board Wrap-Up, Board Chair Libby Garvey is joined by her colleague Christian Dorsey to talk about WMATA's "SafeTrack" project. They also discuss new development projects on Columbia Pike and in Ballston. Ms. Garvey addresses the Historic District designation for Stratford School, the acquisition of new land for parks, a restoration project getting underway in Four Mile Run, and a new Neighborhood Conservation plan for Long Branch neighborhood.

Susan Bell is the retired Department Director for Arlington County Community Planning, Housing and Development. Bell worked for the County from 1983-2011 and oversaw some of the most dramatic changes in Arlington's history. Ms Bell is interviewed by Library Director Diane Kresh and Dept. of Technology Services Director Jack Belcher.

County Board Chair Mary Hynes joins Diana Sun to talk about the October 2015 Board meeting, focusing on new development site plans in Ballston and Clarendon, an update on the Fire Station #8 story, a new community park, the designation of an area of Old Growth forest, new LED lights coming to a section of Lee Highway, and the county renewing service agreements with Falls Church.

Arlington Virginia's kickoff event to Affordable Housing Month included a talk by Chris Estes, President & CEO of the National Housing Conference. County Board Chair Mary Hynes read and signed a proclamation affirming Arlington County's commitment to affordable housing. The event was recorded on Sept. 2 2015 in the Arlington County Board room.

Retired County Manager Barbara Donnellan remembers her three decades serving Arlington County Virginia and her final five years as County Manager. Ms Donnellan was interviewed by Library Director Diane Kresh and Chief Information Officer Jack Belcher. The interview was conducted on August 25 2015 in the studios of Arlington TV.

In this story, we head down to Rosslyn, which is just starting to plan its own extreme makeover. "Realize Rosslyn" is an intense community planning process aimed at realizing the transformation of Rosslyn from a 1960's auto-centric area into a vibrant and distinctive urban place featuring great housing, retail and office space. The results of this effort will provide a refined community vision to help Rosslyn reach its full potential, while ensuring the voices across Arlington are part of this conversation. In five years, you may see a very different Rosslyn from the one we see today.

For years, residents living on or near Columbia Pike, a major east-west artery in south Arlington, have worked with County government on a comprehensive plan to build a more walkable, bikeable, transit-oriented Main Street. So, what does revitalization look like on the Pike? When will the Streetcar arrive? Who is making the decisions? Mary Curtius went to find out the answers to these questions and more...

Arlington County recently approved a 40 year plan for Crystal City,. The County Board, working with the community, developed a new vision at a turning point for this vitally importatn community. Mary Curtius takes a tour with County Board Chairman Chris Zimmerman to discuss the plan.

During the week of June 24-30th, 2011, a Charrette was held which gave the community a unique opportunity to work with the consultant team to apply the knowledge gained through the analysis of representative sites and to create a plan for the future of the greater Columbia Pike corridor. Opportunities for community input occured during meetings, hands on exercises, open design studios and various presentations.

This documentary traces the story of how visionary leaders - and residents who passionately loved their community - together transformed an aging suburb into a national model of transit oriented development. Arlington's setbacks and victories, battles and debates will resonate with any community seeking an alternative to sprawl.
