A
Let
me
just
take
a
moment
just
to
recap
what
what
we're
trying
to
achieve
with
safe
with
save
track,
what
it's
all
about?
It's
a
it's,
a
very
aggressive
track:
maintenance
program
that
bass
we're
trying
to
do
three
years
of
work
into
and
twelve
months.
It
is
composed
of
15
surge
areas,
safety
surges
as
we're
calling
them
which
require
either
continuous,
single
tracking
or
actually
some
station
closures,
and
they
last
anywhere
from
one
week
to
two
more
than
a
month,
but
it
is
more
than
just
the
than
just
the
surges.
A
B
Know
Metro
runs
on
rail
and
over
time
that
rail
gets
knocked
out
of
alignment
and
there
have
been
some
temporary
band-aids
to
kind
of
keep
those
tracks.
True
they're
going
to
go
in
and
make
permanent
repairs.
So
that's
not
a
temporary
band-aid
there's
also
power
required
to
run
the
trains,
and
we
don't
have
straight
power
connections.
We
often
have
little
jumper
cables
or
extension
cords.
Essentially
that
connect
power
from
one
rail
to
another.
Those
have
been
prone
to
failure
they're
going
to
solidify
those
those
power
connections,
so
that
we
don't
have
those
numerous
fire.
C
Should
have
done
it
probably
long
ago?
It's
you
know
it's
really
clear
now,
I
mean
their
health
and
safety
issues
that
are
really
good.
People
are
nervous
about
getting
on
their
macho.
That's
wrong,
clearly
we're
at
a
point
where
we've
got
to
make
this
happen.
I
think
it's
probably
gone
on
too
long,
and
finally,
we
really
hit
a
crisis
point
and
it's
pretty
clear
to
everybody.
If.
B
The
rail
proves
to
be
not
a
great
option:
there
is
bus
service
and
we're
fortunate
along
this
first
element
of
the
surge,
particularly
in
Arlington.
We
have
lots
of
a
bus
service,
that's
operated
by
either
Arlington
County
or
metro
that
takes
people
to
other
metro
stations,
either
ballston
or
Rosslyn,
where
we
even
have
bus
routes
that
go
directly
into
downtown
DC
go.
C
Right
to
the
website,
I
tried
it
and
I
didn't
know
quite
where
to
go
so
I,
just
typed
in
say,
track
and
boom
it
pops
up,
and
then
it
actually
there's
there.
A
lot
of
different
is
all
kind
of
out
by
sections
and
there's
links
to
the
wall.
Matta
page
there's
links
to
Fairfax,
there's
all
kinds
of
links.
You
can
click
on
to
find
that
so
that's
there
and
then
I
was
really
very
heartened
by
the
fact
that
we'll
have
like
at
ballston
ambassadors
people
in
these
yellow
vests.
C
A
Track
has
not
to
cure
all.
You
know,
there's
a
series
of
issues
that
we
have
to
deal
with
in
the
system:
the
rail
cars,
as
you
know,
that
I'm
working
on
the
administration,
the
management
side
of
the
house,
the
series
of
things
that
we
need
to
do
much
better
on.
But
this
is
just
getting
to
the
basic
that
we,
the
basics
of
the
system,
is
getting
the
track
to
perform
the
ways
to
perform
and
that's
both
from
a
safety
perspective
and
reliability.
Perspective.
